In this paper, several methods are combined together and applied to a Particle Filter based on Particle Swarm Optimization acoustic source tracking framework in order to solve some problems of sound source tracking. The Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA), which is extracted from the audio signal received by the microphone pair, makes observations. The Langevin Model is used to describe the speaker's motion characteristics. The pseudo-likelihood function is constructed by using the Global Coherence Field (GCF) function to update the particle weight, in order to solve problem of the phenomenon of spurious source due to noise and reverberation. According to the iterative process and particle flight conditions, the inertial weights of the particles are adjusted nonlinearly and dynamically. The concepts of superior flight speed and inferior flight speed are introduced to Particle Swarm Optimization, which helps jump out of local optimum and solves the problem of lack of particle diversity. Thus, the faster tracking of sound source is realized. In the framework, with fewer particles, the robustness of tracking is enhanced and accuracy of tracking is improved. Finally, the effectiveness of this framework for acoustic source tracking is verified through several Monte Carlo simulation experiments.

This paper deals with the control design of an Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC) considering the effect of the fluctuating heat source. A mechanistic nonlinear model of ORC is developed to predict the dynamic characters and an optimization problem of optimal control design is proposed to attain the optimal operating set-points and controller parameters simultaneously, which aims to maximize the waste heat recovery and guarantee the safe operation in the presence of disturbances. The performance comparison between optimal control design and conventional control design reflects the advantage of the optimal control design.

This paper considers the problem of enhancing the performance of buck-boost DC-DC converters that are already regulated in voltage-mode by a typical PID type-III primary controller. This need may arise in situations where a commercial power converter is not easily replaceable. In these cases improved performance may be obtained with the addition of a secondary controller/prefilter in the form of a reference governor. Recent results in the literature have justified this policy for buck or boost converters. It has been shown that such a complementary scheme, which adjusts the imposed voltage reference signal dynamically, can offer significant performance enhancement in a wide operating range, and without imposing extra requirements or limitations. This work has applied similar concepts to the case of a buck-boost converter topology. An optimal design using a closed-form model predictive control (MPC) methodology is adopted, which is computationally tractable for digital microprocessor implementation. Moreover, contrary to the buck or boost case, the MPC reference governor policy has been found more flexible when applied to buck-boost converters, i.e. offering a better constraints handling ability. These findings are supported by extensive simulation results.

In this article, integration of photovoltaics (PV) into a coal-fired power plant was proposed. The performance including economic analysis and environmental impact was conducted by a case study in the northwest area of China. The results show that the PV system can replace part of auxiliary power consumption using renewable electricity to reduce internal power consumption and the emissions. Due to the feature of the integration into a power plant, the curtailment of solar PV electricity does not occur compared to stand-alone PV system. The investment cost, operation and maintenance (O&M) expenditure were feasible compared with other PV power generation plants.

BiOBr nanosheets are important photocatalytic nanomaterials. However, their biological effects remain to be explored. In this study, we investigated the antifungal effect of BiOBr nanosheets on Candida albicans. Strikingly,the nanosheets strongly inhibited the growth of C. albicans [IC50=(96±4.7) mg/L],hyphal development and biofilm formation. Compareed to the antifungal effect of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, the inhibitory effect of the nanosheets on fungal pathogen was attributed to cetyltrimethylammonium bromide adsorbed by the nanosheets. Thermal gravity analysis and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide release experiment indicated that only 0.42% cetyltrimethylammonium bromide on BiOBr nanosheets was released. Taken together, this study uncovers the contribution of surfactant released from the nanosheets to their antifungal activity.

This work investigates the issue of interval fault estimation based on a zonotopic technique for discrete-time LPV systems with peak bounded uncertainties. First, taking the faults as an auxiliary state vector, an augmented descriptor system is generated. Then, a robust observer considering L ∞ performance is designed for it. The design conditions of the observer are given it terms of LMIs. Next, the bounds of the augmented states estimation are generated based on zonotopes that rigorously consider the unknown disturbance bounds. Finally, simulation results illustrate the performance of the proposed interval fault estimation method.
