Multi-coil wireless power transfer WPT systems have a lot of benefits compared to single coil WPT systems in the terms of power capacity, power transfer efficiency, and free position. In this paper, a comparative study of two different types of multi-coil WPT systems is proposed. The first system contains three transmitter coils on the primary side, while the other system contains one transmitter coil and two resonator coils. Both multi-coil WPT systems are studied in three different cases. The resonator coils lead to higher output power in addition to system efficiency when the receiver has misalignment with transmitter coils. When the receiver coil is aligned with the transmitter coil, resonator coils can decrease the output power and power transfer efficiency. The multi-coil WPT systems are working at a frequency of 6.78 MHz. Resonator coils are also designed under the operating resonance frequency. © 2022 IEEE.

To prevent foodborne illnesses resulting from the consumption of spoiled meat, it is essential to ensure the freshness of the meat in question. Consequently, impedance spectroscopy can be employed to achieve this objective. Nevertheless, in order to ensure the necessary portability, it is essential to incorporate sophisticated analytical techniques into the embedded system. This paper presents a comparative analysis of embedded artificial intelligence (AI) techniques for bovine meat monitoring. We implement and evaluate three machine learning algorithmsneural networks (NN), support vector machines (SVM), and decision trees on two embedded platforms: Coral and Arduino. The results demonstrate high classification accuracies, with a neural network achieving $99.47 \%$ on the Coral platform and a support vector machine reaching $\mathbf{9 9. 5 \%}$ on the Arduino platform when processing augmented impedance data across four meat classes based on their freshness. The trade-offs between accuracy, speed, and memory usage across different combinations of AI models and hardware platforms are discussed, providing insights for optimal embedded AI solutions in meat quality assessment.

Polymer characterization is essential for understanding the physical, chemical, and electrical properties of materials, which directly influence their performance in various applications. Accurate characterization ensures quality control, material optimization, and suitability for specific industrial applications, including electronics, automotive sector, and coatings. This paper presents a novel approach to polymer characterization utilizing rectangular patch antennas, exploiting the sensitivity of microwave frequencies to the dielectric properties of polymer materials. Patch antennas operating in the GHz range are designed to measure shifts in resonance frequency and bandwidth when a polymer sample is placed in proximity to the antenna. These shifts provide valuable insight into the electromagnetic properties of the polymer, as they correspond to changes in the effective dielectric constant and loss tangent of the polymer. The proposed patch antenna is applicable for sensing the relative permittivity $(\varepsilon_{\mathrm{r}})$ in the range 2–10, with a change in resonant frequency of 0.45% of the initial resonant frequency.

In this paper, the sensing properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and conductive polymer mixture poly(3, 4ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) nanocomposites towards methanol vapor were measured at room temperature. The proposed MWCNT/PEDOT:PSS sensors were fabricated by coating different volumes of the dispersions on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) flexible substrate to produce different film thicknesses. The substrate was already coated with screen-printed silver interdigitated electrodes. Compared with MWCNT films, the proposed composite films significantly showed a higher response toward methanol vapor. The thinnest film with only 5 µL drop casted dispersion has shown the best response, 27.62% change in resistance at 70 ppm. © 2022 9th EnvIMEKO Symposium of Environmental Instrumentation and measurements, EnvIMEKO 2022. This paper proposes biosensors designed specifically for dielectric spectroscopy on biological cells while they are in their liquid culture medium, covering the microwave frequency spectrum from 10 GHz to 50 GHz. This frequency range is suitable for measurements with very low concentrations of cells. The biosensors are designed by integrating an inter-digitated capacitor (IDC) with a microfluidic system onto the radio frequency (RF) circuit. Microfluidic systems, on the other hand, provide device reliability prevent potential fluid leakage, and enhance transport for controlling the flow conditions. In this way, noninvasive and contactless analysis of biological cells with a 10 μm diameter was conducted using microwave technology. The in-liquid microwave simulation of fewer than 8 cells going to one cell is successfully performed. In the case of low cell concentration, the response of our biosensor is directly proportional to the number of cells present on the interdigitated capacitor (IDC). This feature enables the quantification of cells using microwave sensing techniques. The described bio-detection method is outlined, demonstrating the enhancements made to improve the accuracy and repeatability of simulations, leading to the achievement of adequate results. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to improve the piezoelectric properties of polyvinylidene fluoride-hexafluoro (PVDF-HFP), the composition of BCZT, text{Ba}{0.85} text{Ca}{0.15} text{Zr}{0.1} text{Ti}{0.9} mathrm{O}_3 which have interesting piezoelectric properties was prepared by sol-gel method then dispersed in PVDF-HFP. To achieve a good quality of the nanocomposite, the obtained BCZT was firstly characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) to get insight about its purity. Then, the powder was sonicated with different amplitudes before filling into the PVDF-HFP matrix. The effects of sonication amplitude on the structure, mechanical and piezoelectric properties of BCZT/PVDF-HFP composites were investigated. Three different tests for each composite with a specific amplitude (20 %, 30 % and 40 %) were conducted to give an overview of the particle distribution in the matrix. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results show that BCZT powder crystallizes in the pure perovskite structure. The tetragonal phase P4mm was identified and confirmed by Rietveld refinement. The electrical analysis reveals that the BCZT particles dispersed with 40 % amplitude show the highest conductivity which is the sign of good distribution of the particles in the PVDF-HFP polymer matrix. According to the mechanical analysis, low variation of Young's modulus for three composite tests for composite prepared with high sonication amplitude. As well, it is noted that increasing sonication amplitude improves both mechanical and piezoelectric properties. The present results provide an insight into optimizing composite materials to achieve better homogeneity, and on the other hand as promising candidates for electronic and energy storage devices. © 2022 IEEE.

Path control is decisive for the quality of welding processes. In this work, an eddy current sensor system based on double coils is investigated for gap detection between two sheet metal materials. The coupling inductances of the sending and the receiving coils are collected in the frequency range from 10 kHz to 1 MHz, in cases of different gap widths and measurement distances. The experimental results show that the developed system is able to measure gaps with a width from 0 mm to 12 mm at various distances from 3 mm to 6 mm. This method is therefore suitable for precise location in welding processes, especially in the plasma welding process facing great noisy disruptions. © 2022 IEEE.

In this study, novel strategies are being explored to enhance composite material for flexible interconnects, particularly for temperature sensors in battery housing system applications. The study investigates the influence of material composition and fabrication process optimization on the electrical properties of the nanocomposites. The study aims to compare the effects of different amounts of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the PDMS matrix and the introduction of CB and graphene into CNT/PDMS composite. Analyzing the influence of carbonaceous material ratios on conductivity under different fabrication parameters. Composite homogeneity is assessed, and resistance is measured across a temperature range of 30°C to 70°C. In addition, stability analysis is performed to study the resistance changes over time in the nanocomposite thin film. This comprehensive investigation is aimed to improve the understanding of these materials and their suitability for various applications, including interconnects for temperature sensors in battery housing, with the goal of improving the safety, reliability and lifetime of energy storage systems.

Impedance spectroscopy is suitable for online battery diagnostics and state-of-health (SoH) estimation. Conventionally, impedance spectroscopy analysis is realized by modeling the impedance spectrum measurement with equivalent circuits. However, finding an appropriate global model can be time-consuming and challenging due to the overlap of the phenomena during the investigation. This paper proposes a novel approach for the SoH assessment based on the differential impedance analysis (DIA). The DIA extracts the charge transfer resistance and the double-layer capacitance from the impedance spectrum without relying on a global model. Furthermore, the time constant formed by the charge transfer resistance and double-layer capacitance is demonstrated to have the highest correlation for assessing the SoH of a battery. For the validation, a commercial lithium-ion battery cell of type Sony US18650VT3 is used and cycled 400 times. The results show a systematic correlation between the model parameters and the number of cycles, which forms the basis of a novel online method of SoH assessment. Moreover, the most suitable parameter to determine the SoH is the time constant τ at a frequency of 56 Hz with a coefficient of determination equal to 0.875. © 2023 IEEE.

This study demonstrates the application of second-generation quantum sensors in one-dimensional tracking. Due to their compact size, these magnetic field-sensitive sensors are particularly advantageous for medical and industrial settings where conventional sensors may be too large or vulnerable to electromagnetic interference. The proposed sensor setup achieves an average resolution of 1.22 mV/mm for tracking within a 100 mm range. The study also explores the nature and impact of various noise sources and discusses potential future techniques for mitigating these interferences. © 2024 IEEE.
