Fault detection and tolerant control with a variable-bandwidth extended state observer for electro-hydraulic servo systems with lumped disturbance and measurement noise

In this study, a novel fault detection and tolerant control method are presented for electro-hydraulic servo systems (EHSS) with actuator partial loss of effectiveness (LOE) fault. Meanwhile, the parameter uncertainties, external disturbances, and output measurement noise are also considered. Firstly, we construct a new mapping function with a simple and flexible structure, and then design a variable-bandwidth extended state observer (VBESO) based on this function to estimate the states and lumped disturbance of the system. The designed VBESO can not only balance estimation accuracy and noise sensitivity, but also decouple the fault component from the lumped disturbance, thus facilitating fault detection. Subsequently, we design an adaptive law with time-varying gain that can accurately approximate the actuator LOE coefficient, and propose a stable fault detection scheme by combining the designed adaptive law, with the detection results that are less affected by changes in system states. The mutual coordination of the mentioned decoupling, adaptive law, and time-varying gain is a key feature of our method, rarely seen in other works. Furthermore, a fault-tolerant controller with the proposed VBESO and adaptive law is developed, which can guarantee that, even in the presence of the considered adverse obstacles, the hydraulic cylinder maintains high tracking accuracy and the control performance can be promptly recovered after an actuator fault occurs. Finally, the proposed method is validated by simulations and experiments, and it is compared with other controllers in different scenarios. © 2025 International Society of automation

The traditional elderly fall detection system has some shortcomings, such as high false alarm rate and large delay, which limits its reliability and practicability in practical application. In order to timely and accurately notify the guardian of the old man's fall information, a low-power fall detection system based on em-bedded artificial intelligence is proposed. The system is based on low-power ARM processor, coupled with low-power and small-volume MEMS acceleration sensor. By designing the overall structure of the system, the peripheral circuits of ARM processor and MEMS acceleration sensor, and writing embedded programs and embedded artificial intelligence algorithms, the core functions such as data acquisition, fall identification and fall state transmission are realized. In the experiment, an algorithm model of FDNet (Fall Detection Network) is proposed, and a lot of tests and evaluations are carried out. The experimental results show that the system can achieve 98% accuracy on embedded devices. In addition, the system also shows excellent environmental adaptability, low power consumption and small size, which makes it suitable for fall detection and early warning in various occasions. The successful application of the system is expected to provide effective protection for the health and safety of the elderly. © 2024 IEEE.

Direct Power Distribution Strategy Based on Space Vector Modulation for Single-Stage Dual-DC-Port Inverter

The single-stage dual-dc-port inverter (SDI) directly connects the photovoltaic (PV)-battery hybrid system to the ac side, which offers the advantages of high efficiency and low cost due to the removal of dc-dc converter. The existing modulation-based power distribution strategies realize flexible power flow control by indirectly regulating redundant zero or small vectors via additional outer-loop power controllers, which have the drawbacks of limited steady-state and dynamic response. To address this issue, the relationship between the dc-port power and large/small vectors is analytically revealed, which provides intuitive parameter design guidelines for power distribution control. On this basis, a direct power distribution strategy based on space vector modulation (SVM) is proposed, which regulates the dc-port power by splitting the reference voltage vector into large and small vectors. Compared to the conventional strategies, the proposed strategy shows better steady-state and dynamic response due to desirable power control directly realized in the modulation layer. Finally, the comprehensive comparison experimental tests are conducted to verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed direct power distribution strategy. © 2025 IEEE.

An Enhanced Augmented Coprime Array with Low Mutual Coupling and High DOFs

Coprime array (CA) has gained significant attention due to its high degrees of freedom (DOFs) and large array aperture. Previous researches have focused on improving coprime arrays, but few studies have successfully combined a large array aperture, low mutual coupling, and high DOFs with the number of array elements. In this paper, we propose a novel semi-symmetrical augmented coprime array (SSACA) that strategically positions sensors by arranging M-subarrays and symmetric N-subarrays. This design reduces redundancy lags, and increases DOFs, continuous DOFs, and array aperture, thereby mitigating mutual coupling effects and improving angular resolution for the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. We derive closed-form expressions for the DOFs, continuous DOFs, and array aperture of SSACA. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SSACA outperforms the existing studies regarding higher DOFs, reduced mutual coupling effects, and lower root mean square error (RMSE) in similar application scenarios, particularly in strong mutual coupling scenarios. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Separated Ionic-Electronic Conduction in Hydrophobic Conjugated Polymer/Hydrophilic Photocrosslinker Blends for Organic Electrochemical Transistors

Ionic-electronic coupling serves as the core process enabling the operation of organic mixed ionic-electronic(semi)conductors(OMIECs)based devices,for instance,organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs).Replacing hydrophobic side chains of conjugated polymers with hydrophilic ethylene glycol/ionic ones is a well-developed approach to enable transistor channels with coupled ionic and electronic ***,in contrast,we introduce a hydrophilic glycol chain-modified photocrosslinker(DtFGDA)for the direct photolithography process and blend it with various representative hydrophobic conjugated *** precise patterning of blended films by direct photolithography is achieved while tremendous enhancements of OECTs performance are attained,with maximum six orders of magnitude higher transconductance,significantly decreased hysteresis,and lower threshold *** spectroelectrochemical characterization,surprisingly,no obvious variations in polaron absorption peaks are observed in all conjugated polymer/crosslinker *** ionic-electronic separated conduction mechanism,which is never reported in OECTs before,is further proposed based on the characterization of the transmission electron microscope,wherein ions primarily migrate within the crosslinker while holes transport within the semiconducting *** work proposes an efficient strategy,which involves incorporating hydrophilic chains into the photocrosslinker necessary for direct photolithography and blending it with hydrophobic semiconducting polymers,achieving synergistic ionic-electronic transport in the blended film.

Intelligent identification method of insulation pull rod defects based on intactness-aware Mosaic data augmentation and fusion of YOLOv5s

In recent years, forest fires caused by transmission line tree line faults occur frequently, transmission line tree line faults affect the safety and reliability of power grid operation, a serious threat to the safety of natural resources and people's property. In this paper, for the 35kV transmission line tree line faults caused by hill fire, built a 35kV line tree line fault experimental platform, in the capacitance current of 248 mA and 132 mA conditions, respectively, selected bamboo, pine and cedar three typical trees as a research sample, to carry out the three kinds of trees tree line fault fire time experiments. The burning phenomena, charring channels, and infrared images of different trees were recorded and analyzed, and the corresponding laws were drawn up to summarize the longest and shortest fire starting times of different capacitance currents and different trees. The research in this paper can provide technical reference for the development of measures to prevent fire caused by tree line faults in 35kV transmission lines. © 2024 IEEE.

Voltage transformer as a substation important equipment, assuming the role of measurement, control and protection. Equipment in the operation process is susceptible to temperature and other factors that cause insulation defects, need to carry out regular insulation preventive testing. In this paper, we take 110 kV series-type voltage transformer as the research object, and use four different wiring methods to explore the changes of tanδ value and capacitance under different ambient temperatures, insulating oil temperatures, and insulating oil moisture conditions, to verify the applicability and reasonableness of the relevant values in the Regulations, and to provide an effective basis for the series-type voltage transformer to determine the insulation faults of the equipment through the tanδ value. The results show that the tanδ value increases with the rise of temperature under different wiring methods, while the capacitance is basically unchanged;the end shielding method is the most sensitive to the moisture of insulating oil under different temperature conditions;when the insulation is normal, the conventional inverse wiring is more sensitive to the temperature change;when the insulation is faulty, the conventional positive wiring is more sensitive;to determine whether there are insulation defects of voltage transformers should be measured by the tanδ value in lower temperature as the main criterion, and the Kegulations' will be used to determine whether there are insulation defects of the series type voltage transformer through the tanδ value. Judgment of whether the voltage transformer insulation defects should be measured at lower temperatures tanδ as the main criterion, Kegulations' in the relevant tanδ value criterion should be adjusted in a timely manner. © 2024 IEEE.
