Metallic glasses(MGs)or amorphous alloys are an important engineering material that has a history of research of about 80-90 *** different fast cooling methods were developed for multi-component MGs between 1960s and 1980s,1990s witnessed a surge of research interest in the development of bulk metallic glasses(BGMs).Since then,one central theme of research in the metallic-glass community has been compositional design that aims to search for MGs with a better glass forming ability,a larger size and/or more interesting properties,which can hence meet the demands from more important *** this review article,we focus on the recent development of chemically complex MGs,such as high entropy MGs,with new tools that were not available or mature yet until recently,such as the state-of-the-art additive manufacturing technologies,high throughput materials design techniques and the methods for big data analyses(*** learning and artificial intelligence).We also discuss the recent use of MGs in a variety of novel and important applications,from personal healthcare,electric energy transfer to nuclear energy that plays a pivotal role in the battle against global warming.

The low-voltage distribution system of thermal power plants has a large auxiliary power load and is vulnerable to electromagnetic influence, so its lightning protection is relatively complex. This paper takes Xishui Substation as the research object, and uses CDEGS software to build its buildings and grounding grid model, and calculates the shunt of lightning current in branch conductors, indoor magnetic field distribution and grounding grid potential distribution of thermal power plants when lightning strikes buildings. The results show that the shunt coefficient of the thermal power plant buildings basically meets the specification requirements. The lightning that strikes buildings will not cause harm to indoor equipment near the middle. Lightning flowing through buildings and leaking into the ground will threaten its low-voltage distribution system with ground potential counterattack. This provides data basis for electromagnetic safety assessment of low-voltage distribution system in thermal power plants, and is of great significance for improving reliable operation of low-voltage distribution system in thermal power plants. © 2019 IEEE.

When solving the electromagnetic compatibility problem of low-voltage distribution system in thermal power plants, it is found that the current protection specifications for secondary cables in some conventional substations and common civil buildings are not suitable for thermal power plants, and there is a lack of reference standards for lightning protection data of secondary cables in thermal power plants. Therefore, this paper takes Xishui Substation as the research object, uses CDEGS software to build a three-phase low-voltage distribution system combined with the structural characteristics of large-scale ground screen, overhead cable bridge, building group and others of thermal power plants, and completes the modeling of its buildings, grounding grid, transformer and secondary overhead cable bridge. According to the layout of two buildings in the low-voltage distribution system, the overvoltage of the secondary power cable generated when the buildings are struck by lightning is calculated. The results show that the lightning strike will cause great electromagnetic influence on the secondary equipment. This provides data support for the layout design and protection of secondary cables in thermal power plants, and is of great significance for improving the insulation coordination capability of secondary systems. © 2019 IEEE.

This research focuses on the preparation and properties of rice hull ash(RHA). We prepared RHA from combustion of rice husk in the fluidized-bed reactor. The temperature field of the furnace was steady and bellow 850°C to keep SiO2 amorphous. XRD, BET and SEM were applied in the characterization tests to investigate the effect of flow rate(u), the higher primary-secondary wind ratio(i) and relative height of bed material. The optimal combustion condition for preparing RHA was discussed. RHA obtained from rice hull contains abundant amorphous SiO2 (>90%) and the characterization results of RHA show its potential to be a good catalyst supporter.

Facile detection, differentiation, and detoxification of multiple heavy metal ions in a simple molecule design presents an ultimate challenge.[1] Here we reported a coumarin-thiazolidine based theranostic fluorescent probe 1（R=Et） with two latent metal ion binding sites and two distinctive hydrolysis sites which are promoted by metal-ion-complexation for achieving divergent fluorescence responses for the three heavy metal ions: an "on-off" response for Ag+, an "off-on" response for Hg2+, and a self-threshold ratiometric fluorescence response for Cu2+. The probe 1 also showed cell-protective effects comparable to D-penicillamine against Ag+, Cu2+, or Hg2+-induced cytotoxicity in MCF-7 cells.[2] By studying the fluorescence response and mechanism of the probe for Cu2+, we proposed a new concept of "self-threshold fluorescent probe" in fluorescent probe design. Such a probe gives cut-out fluorescence readout when the concentration of the analyte of interest above a certain threshold that is dependent on the probe’s concentration. The key to the self-threshold fluorescent probe design is the sequential binding of two different binding sites with differentiable fluorescence readout. Such a self-threshold fluorescent probe is particularly useful for determining whether concentration of the analyte of interest is over a certain limit or not. [2] Moreover, we also find that allosteric effect may also contribute to the sequential binding of the Cu2+ and the self-threshold fluorescence readout. [2]

As an important component of all-electric aircraft, the main propulsion machine is developing towards high energy density, high efficiency and high fault tolerance. In order to improve the energy density of main propulsion machine for all-electric aircraft, a novel approach, which can be used for excellent performance improvement of electric machine of all-electric aircraft, is reported in this paper. The analytical formula of energy density is put forward and the design method of high energy density permanent magnet machine is presented. A high energy density machine with rated power of 30kW is designed, and the electromagnetic field simulation analysis, strength and stress structure verification, temperature field simulation analysis and multi-physical field coupling analysis are obtained. A prototype is developed, the experiment platform is established, and experiments are performed. The energy density of main propulsion machine designed is up to 21kW·N·m/kg2, and the index is increased by 3.2 times. The optimal method based on the multi-physical field analysis can be also applied to other high energy density machines. © 2020, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

A pinacol boronate caged NIAD-4 derivative as a near-infrared fluorescent probe for fast and selective detection of hypochlorous acid

Hypochlorous acid （HOCI） is one of highly reactive oxygen species （ROS）. It is involved in both immune defense against invading microbes and the progression of many diseases including cardiovascular disease and neurodegeneration disorders. It is generated from hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） and chloride ions in the presence of myeloperoxidase in activated neutrophils. To illustrate HOCI＇s biological functions, fluorescent probes, particularly those fluorescence emissions are in the near-infrared range, are highly needed for in vivo applications. Herein, we reported the design of a pinacol boronate caged near-infrared （NIR） fluorescent probe I derived from an Aft binding fluorophore NIAD-4 for fast and selective detection of HOC1/C10 over other ROS. Upon exposure to HOCI/CIO-, the pinacol boronate caging group of the probe 1 was quickly converted to electron-donating hydroxyl group, which increased intramolecular charge transfer OCT） in the excited state and resulted in the red-shift and intensity enhancement of fluorescence emission. The probe bears several unique features：（1） It could be used as either a ratiomatic or turn-on fluorescent probe; （2） Reaction of the caging group boronate with HOCI is very fast and finishes within seconds, which provides the selectivity over H2O2; （3） The NIAD-4 fluorophore provides additional selectivity for detection of HOCl over peroxynitrite. Moreover, the utility of the probe in imaging HOCllClO- was demonstrated in in vitro phantom imaging studies using mouse brain homogenate as biological relevant media.

Ethereum smart contracts are an innovation built on top of the blockchain technology, which provides a platform for automatically executing contracts in an anonymous, distributed, and trusted way. The problem is magnified by the fact that smart contracts, unlike ordinary programs, cannot be patched easily once deployed. It is important for smart contracts to be checked against potential vulnerabilities. In this work, we propose an alternative approach to automatically identify critical program paths (with multiple function calls including inter-contract function calls) in a smart contract, rank the paths according to their criticalness, discard them if they are infeasible or otherwise present them with user friendly warnings for user inspection. We identify paths which involve monetary transaction as critical paths, and prioritize those which potentially violate important properties. For scalability, symbolic execution techniques are only applied to top ranked critical paths. Our approach has been implemented in a tool called sCompile, which has been applied to 36,099 smart contracts. The experiment results show that sCompile is efficient, i.e., 5 s on average for one smart contract. Furthermore, we show that many known vulnerabilities can be captured if user inspects as few as 10 program paths generated by sCompile. Lastly, sCompile discovered 224 unknown vulnerabilities with a false positive rate of 15.4% before user inspection. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The insulator string mainly plays a role of fixing wire and preventing the current from returning to the ground in the power transmission and transformation project. In order to compress the corridor width of the transmission line and make it convenient for breaking line, we proposed a novel structure in which the V-type fittings and the tensile insulator string are optimally combined. In this paper, the mathematical model of mechanical analysis for the structure is established. According to the equilibrium conditions of space force system, the factors affecting the stress of the structure are analysed. In addition, a simulation model is built in the finite element analysis software. The stress distributions of the new structure by setting two installation angles are calculated and the special parts with weak mechanical properties in the new structure are explored based on the generated stress cloud diagram. We compare the maximum value of the von Mises equivalent stress in the two arrangements. A conclusion of better than 45° at a mounting arrangement angle of 50° was obtained. The research results provide a theoretical reference for further optimization design and installation of the combined structure in the future. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
