As of December 2022,2603 laboratory-identified Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV)infections and 935 associated deaths,with a mortality rate of 36%,had been reported to the World Health Organization(WHO).However,there are still no vaccines for MERS-CoV,which makes the prevention and control of MERS-CoV *** this study,we generated two DNA vaccine candidates by integrating MERS-CoV Spike(S)gene into a replicating Vaccinia Tian Tan(VTT)*** to homologous immunization with either vaccine,mice immunized with DNA vaccine prime and VTT vaccine boost exhibited much stronger and durable humoral and cellular immune *** immunized mice produced robust binding antibodies and broad neutralizing antibodies against the EMC2012,England1 and KNIH strains of ***-Boost immunization also induced strong MERS-S specific T cells responses,with high memory and poly-functional(CD107a-IFN-γ-TNF-α)effector CD8t T *** conclusion,the research demonstrated that DNA-Prime/VTT-Boost strategy could elicit robust and balanced humoral and cellular immune responses against *** study not only provides a promising set of MERS-CoV vaccine candidates,but also proposes a heterologous sequential immunization strategy worthy of further development.

This study aimed to reconstruct the origin and worldwide epidemic history of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)1 subtype C and comprehend how HIV-1 subtype C was introduced into and spread throughout China in the formof B/C recombinant *** sequences ofHIV-1 subtype C and some other subtypes deposited before December 31,2020 were downloaded from the Los Alamos HIV Database and the chinese National Center for aids/std control and prevention *** available sequences were screened for quality,and Bayesian analysis was used to build the maximum clade credibility evolutionary tree to analyze and judge the origin and spread of HIV-1 subtype ***-1 subtype C originated in central Africa around 1952,then spread to southern Africa around 1969 and to eastern Africa around ***-1 subtype C fromsouthern Africa was introduced into India in ***-1 subtype C of eastern Africa was introduced into Brazil in *** HIV-1 subtype C was exported to China in three migration events during the period from 1986 to *** two predominant recombinants in China(CRF07_BC and CRF08_BC)emerged in 1988 and 1990,*** B/C recombinants,namely,CRF64_BC,CRF61_BC and CRF62_BC,originated in 1993,2002 and 2000,*** study has reconstructed the global origin and evolutionary history of HIV-1 subtype *** addition,our study demonstrated that the chinese HIV-1 subtype C originated from three related Indian lineages around the mid to late 1980s and,since then,has formed some B/C recombinants with subtype B that caused a widespread epidemic in China.

Background Blastocystis hominis(Bh)is zoonotic parasitic pathogen with a high prevalent globally,causing opportunistic infections and diarrhea *** immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection disrupts the immune system by depleting CD4^(+)T lymphocyte(CD4^(+)T)cell counts,thereby increasing Bh infection risk among persons living with HIV(PLWH).However,the precise association between Bh infection risk and HIV-related biological markers and treatment processes remains poorly ***,the purpose of the study was to explore the association between Bh infection risk and CD4^(+)T cell counts,HIV viral load(VL),and duration of interruption in antiviral therapy among *** A large-scale multi-center cross-sectional study was conducted in China from June 2020 to December *** genetic presence of Bh in fecal samples was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction,the CD4^(+)T cell counts in venous blood was measured using flowcytometry,and the HIV VL in serum was quantified using fluorescence-based *** cubic spline(RCS)was applied to assess the non-linear association between Bh infection risk and CD4^(+)T cell counts,HIV VL,and duration of interruption in highly active antiretroviral therapy(HARRT).Results A total of 1245 PLWH were enrolled in the study,the average age of PLWH was 43 years[interquartile range(IQR):33,52],with 452(36.3%)being female,50.4%(n=628)had no immunosuppression(CD4^(+)T cell counts>500 cells/μl),and 78.1%(n=972)achieved full virological suppression(HIV VL<50 copies/ml).Approximately 10.5%(n=131)of PLWH had *** prevalence of Bh was found to be 4.9%[95%confidence interval(CI):3.8-6.4%]among *** nonlinear associations were observed between the Bh infection risk and CD4^(+)T cell counts(Pfor nonlinearity<0.001,L-shaped),HIV VL(Pfor nonlinearity<0.001,inverted U-shaped),and duration of interruption in HARRT(Pfor nonlinearity<0.001,inverted U-shaped).Conclusions

Dear Editor,Although coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is no longer deemed a“Public Health Emergency of International Concern”,the global transmission dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 have shifted due to vaccination,emergency of virus variants,and pre-existing coronavirus immunity.1–3 It remains unclear how cross-reactive and pre-existing humoral immunity might impact the effectiveness of vaccines and antibodies against new viral mutations.4,5 This study seeks to elucidate the cross-reactivity of coronavirus antibodies induced by previously unencountered Omicron BA.5/BF.7 variants in the breakthrough infection(BTI)population.

In China, a pilot project for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of the HIV was initiated in 2001. For the PMTCT of HIV, the chinese government has released versions of the guidelines since 2004. In 2014, the World Health Organization released guidance on global processes and criteria for the validation of elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis. To promote the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B virus in China, the chinese government updated the Guideline for PMTCT of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in 2020 (briefly as Guideline-2020). The Guideline-2020 comprises 5 parts: goals, interventions, support measures, duties and cooperation of departments, and definition indicators for PMTCT of HIV and corresponding calculation formulas. Compared with the previous versions, the key points updated in the Guideline-2020 are that the goals are set again, and health education and promotion, the procedure of HIV testing for pregnant women, and the antiretroviral therapy regimen for HIV-positive pregnant women and antiretroviral) prophylaxis regimen for infants are all updated. The antiretroviral prophylaxis regimen as zidovudine-lamivudine-nevirapine/lopinavir/ritonavir twice per day for 6 weeks is recommended for infants at high exposure risk to HIV, whereas the third antiretroviral therapy regimen as tenofovir-lamivudine-lopinavir/ritonavir is recommended for HIV-positive pregnant women, and indicators for PMTCT of HIV and corresponding calculation formulas are defined.

Background:Antiretroviral therapy(ART)was often associated with dyslipidemia among human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(aids)*** study aimed to assess treatment-naïve adult male patients with HIV/aids who initiated ART with either co-formulated bictegravir,emtricitabine,and tenofovir alafenamide(BIC/FTC/TAF)or lamivudine,efavirenz,and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(3TC+EFV+TDF),monitoring at weeks 4,12,24,and ***:A case-control retrospective study was *** newly diagnosed HIV-infected individuals attending the sexual transmission disease(std)/aids clinic of Beijing Youan Hospital,Capital Medical University,from January to December *** patients were divided into BIC/FTC/TAF group or 3TC+EFV+TDF ***-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),triglyceride(TG),and total cholesterol(TC)at different time points over 48 weeks between two groups were compared.A multivariate Cox regression model was used to identify relevant influencing factors for the population at high risk of increased ***:A total of 870 participants,with 510 in BIC/FTC/TAF group and 360 in 3TC+EFV+TDF *** were no statistically significant differences in median age,baseline CD4/CD8 ratio,median body mass index(BMI)between the two *** both two groups,levels of TG,TC,and LDL-C were higher at 4 weeks,12 weeks,and 24 weeks of treatment(all P<0.05),and there were no statistically significant differences at 48 weeks compared to those at baseline(all P>0.05).In addition,the differences in average changes of the level of TG,TC,HDL-C,and LDL-C from weeks 4,12,24,and 48 to baseline between two groups were not statistically significant(all P>0.05).Multivariate Cox proportional risk model analysis showed that initiating ART with HIV RNA≥10^(5)copies/mL(compared with<10^(5)copies/mL)was associated with an increased risk of elevated LDL-C(hazard ratio=1.26,95%confidence interval:1.07-1.48,

Dyslipidemia is a metabolic disorder with a higher prevalence among people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)than that among the general population,and it significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease(CVD).[1]HIV infection can lead to dyslipidemia through persistent inflammation,immune activation,and direct effects on lipid metabolism.[1]The initiation of antiretroviral therapy(ART)can exacerbate dyslipidemia,often characterized by increased concentrations of total cholesterol(TC),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and triglycerides(TG),along with a decrease in the concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C).[2]Additionally,traditional risk factors contribute to the development of dyslipidemia in this population.[3]
