Broadband-efficient grating couplers serve as the key bridge connecting fiber and the chip in silicon photonics. Apodized grating couplers (AGC) have already demonstrated with high coupling efficiency, but almost all of them have been designed by only considering of mode matching coupling at single-wavelength, which resulting in a limited coupling bandwidth. Here, a multi-wavelengths mode matching method by calculating the root mean square error of effective-index and leakage-factor is proposed to design AGCs with both an enhancement bandwidth and a high coupling efficiency. Our investigation shows that, compared with the conventional single-wavelength SOI AGC, in an optimized multi-wavelengths AGC, the 3 dB bandwidth could be extended from 60 nm to 88 nm and the coupling efficiency could be enhanced from 67 % to 74 %. Moreover, when a metal reflector at the bottom of the AGC was furtherly adopted, both the 3 dB bandwidth and the coupling efficiency could be enhanced to an even more higher value of 92 nm and 91 % in an optimized multi-wavelengths AGC. These results would provide a new pathway to achieve broadband grating couplers by considering of multi-wavelengths mode matching. © 2025 SPIE.

Based on emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks, cloud-edge-terminal architecture can provide powerful computing, intelligent interconnection, and real-time response, which can also be regarded as AI-driven network. Unfortunately, multiple network layers in the AI-driven network usually face various types of network threats such as malicious network reconnaissance, side-channel attacks, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). Traditional security solutions respond to network threats after the occurrence of attacks. To solve this problem, the concept of Moving Target Defense (MTD) has been proposed as a proactive defense mechanism that aims to defend against cyber attacks before they occur. In this paper, we firstly provide a thorough analysis of the threats in the cloud-edge-terminal network. Then we conduct a comprehensive survey to discuss the concept, design principles, and main classifications of MTD. Next, we further introduce the development potential in terms of AI-powered MTD on each network layer. Meanwhile, we also explore how MTD improves the security of AI algorithms. Lastly, we describe the existing challenges and research directions of MTD. The aim of this paper is to provide an in-depth understanding for the readers on how to realize the integration between MTD and AI-driven network. © 2014 IEEE.

RNA, a vital biomarker, is crucial for molecular diagnostics, encompassing pathogen detection, gene expression, tumor diagnosis, prognosis, and drug efficacy. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, its role in clinical settings has grown. This review examines established RNA detection methods like qPCR, sequencing, Nanostring, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), highlighting recent progress and trends. It also focuses on new Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) methods developed over the last five years, categorizing them by the necessity for reverse transcription and nucleic acid amplification. The review emphasizes advances in multiplex detection tailored for POCT, aiming to update researchers and clinicians on the latest RNA detection technologies. Among various RNA detection methods, the amplification-free approach is preferable for POCT applications compared to those requiring reverse transcription and sequence-dependent amplification, as they simplify the detection process by reducing technical complexity while retaining high sensitivity. © 2025

This study focuses on the prescribed performance practical fixed-time control problem for nonlinear uncertain multiagent systems with input saturation and external disturbances. Unlike existing practical fixed-time consensus approaches, we propose an adaptive dynamic surface design scheme to mitigate computational complexity in the backstepping procedure. In addition, fuzzy logic systems are adopted to approximate uncertainties. To reduce the frequency of controller updates, an event-triggering mechanism is introduced. Using the backstepping technique and Lyapunov stability theory, we design a real adaptive distributed fuzzy controller that can guarantee consensus errors remain within prescribed performance in a fixed time. Ultimately, emulate results express the effectiveness of the presented strategy. © 2013 IEEE. All rights reserved.

A novel multi-network convergence communication mechanism for electricity information acquisition system test platform

Electricity Information Acquisition System (EIAS) test platform is used to evaluate the communication performance of the different communication methods. For realizing the reliable and quick information interaction in the test terminal, a hierarchical structure multi-network convergence communication mechanism is designed. The convergence communication mechanism is divided into the communication interface convergence layer, the core convergence layer and the business convergence layer to realize the information interaction among the Ethernet communication, power line carrier communication, RS-485 communication and wireless communication. Combined with the tunnel transmission mechanism, the buffer pool mechanism, the communication check mechanism and the timeout control mechanism, the multi-network convergence communication mechanism can effectively improve the communication performance of the test terminal. The test results show that the mechanism can satisfy the real-time and reliability requirements for the electricity information acquisition system test platform. © 2014 IFSA Publishing, S. L.

BACKGROUND:Evidence on the effects of occupation categories on cardiovascular disease (CVD) progression and longevity has mostly come from cross-sectional studies, which limits our understanding of the pathogenesis of CVD. This study aimed to evaluate the associations of occupation categories with CVD and all-cause mortality in the American population. METHODS:We analyzed data from the 2005-2014 U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a large-scale public health survey representative of the U.S. population, linked to mortality data obtained in 2019. To evaluate the association between occupation categories and the risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality, we estimated Cox proportional hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). RESULTS:Among 11,102 participants (aged 20-85 years, 53.99% male), 132 died from CVD among the total 478 deaths during a median follow-up of 9.9 years. In multivariable-adjusted models, the occupation categories were significantly associated with CVD mortality, with the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) of 3.95(1.94-8.04) for construction and clean-up industry, 2.51(1.15-5.52) for sales and service industry, 2.49(1.04-5.95) for business and management, and 2.98(1.56,5.71) for others. For all-cause mortality, only construction and clean-up industry and sales and service industry were positively associated with all-cause mortality, and HRs (95% CIs) were 2.05(1.33-3.16) and 1.64(1.12-2.41). Both working hours in the previous week and the number of months worked exhibited varying degrees of dose-response relationships with CVD and all-cause mortality. CONCLUSIONS:Occupation categories were found to be significantly associated with the risk of CVD and all-cause mortality. Future research could incorporate different work properties into specific prevention strategies for these outcomes.

Cluster routing is a critical routing approach in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, the uneven distribution of selected cluster head nodes and impractical data transmission paths can result in uneven depletion of network energy. For this purpose, we introduce a new routing strategy for clustered wireless sensor networks that utilizes an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm, called tCBWO-DPR. In the selection process of cluster heads, we introduce a new excitation function to evaluate and select more suitable candidate cluster heads by establishing the correlation between the energy of node and the positional relationship of nodes. In addition, the beluga whale optimization (BWO) algorithm has been improved by incorporating the cosine factor and t-distribution to enhance its local and global search capabilities, as well as to improve its convergence speed and ability. For the data transmission path, we use Prim’s algorithm to construct a spanning tree and introduce DPR for determining the optimal route between cluster heads based on the correlation distances of cluster heads. This effectively shortens the data transmission path and enhances network stability. Simulation results show that the improved beluga whale optimization based algorithm can effectively improve the survival cycle and reduce the average energy consumption of the network. © 2024 the Author(s).

The manufacturing industry is complicated, with the coexistence of old and new devices, many devices, and various communication interfaces and protocols, making connectivity difficult. Therefore, based on the idea of software definition, the hardware and software of equipment are decoupled. The hardware layer only needs to do a good job of interconnection efficiently, and the calculation and control logic is completed by software. The digital device model consists of devices, controllers, data pumps, rules, events, and message flows. By defining, assembling, generating and enabling four steps, digital device driven assembly is realized. Finally, statistical analysis, processing and presentation of KPI data collected by digital equipment are carried out. The digital equipment modeling based on software definition realizes the integration of industrial heterogeneous networks, reduces the dependence on hardware, improves the efficiency, and has been applied in engineering and verified, and achieved good results. © 2023 SPIE · 0277-786X ·

A home automation system integrates electrical devices in a house with each other. In this paper, an efficient secure multichannel traffic management scheme for wireless home automation networks with IoT (internet of things) functions is proposed. The mechanism includes a channel resource optimization scheme by the centralized channel assignment algorithms and an intrusion detection scheme for security enhancement with the traffic management. We evaluated the performance of the mechanism by using the wireless data measured on real wireless home networks. The simulation results show that the scheme can effectively manage the multi-channel status of the networks and detect the intrusion attacks, which improve the overall network performance. © (2014), Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

To save the energy and extend the lifetime of the network, Cluster Routing Algorithm based on Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (CRAAHC) is proposed in wireless sensor networks. WSN is divided into a certain quantity of ring areas based on the energy consumption model. Clustering process is optimized by constraining the distance between clusters and the diameter of clusters to improve the quality of clustering algorithm. Cluster head selection strategy is improved by considering the residual energy of the node and energy consumption in communication with other nodes in one cluster. Simulation results show that CRAAHC algorithm can achieve energy efficiency and routing reliability. © 2023 SPIE.
