AN Efficient Coherent Integration Method for Highly Maneuvering Target Detection by Exploiting Range-Azimuth Coupling Relationships Between Subsegments

Arbitrary-order range migrations (RMs) and Doppler frequency migrations (DFMs) caused by complicated motions of highly maneuvering targets (HMTs) pose challenges for coherent integration (CI) in radar remote sensing and detection applications. Complicated Doppler frequency ambiguity improves the challenges of CI for HMTs. The optimal generalized Radon–Fourier transform (GRFT) suffers from a large computational cost, and nonlinear transform-based methods are affected by severe performance loss. To tackle these difficulties, an efficient segmented CI method for HMT detection via the range-azimuth coupling relationship between subsegments is proposed. First, inspired by the advantage of subaperture processing, a segmentation operation is introduced to remove intrasegment RMs and DFMs. Second, a high-order compensation function is presented to remove the high-order intersegment RMs and DFMs. Third, by exploiting the range-azimuth coupling relationship between subsegments, a residual migration compensation function is used to correct the residual intersegment RM. Thus, a well result of HMT's coherent integration is achieved. The proposed method handles arbitrary-order RMs and DFMs, complex Doppler ambiguity and blind speed sidelobes in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) circumstances and multitarget cases due to its linear transform property. In comparison to the optimal GRFT, the proposed approach substantially lowers computational cost while showing similar performance. Then, the presented approach can be implemented by parallel processing. It is advantageous to enhance real-time processing efficiency. Various distributed learning approaches emerge for enabling ubiquitous intelligence in Internet of Things (IoT) without sacrificing data privacy. To improve communication efficiency in frequent knowledge exchange over resource-constrained IoT, different techniques for client selection have been proposed. However, the intractable scalability issues remain to be addressed in massive IoT, since highly-coupled co-channel interference adds exponential complexity to combinatorial client selection. In this work, we develop a client selection framework highly-scalable to large-scale networks with thousands of devices, which exploits the inherent graph structure derived from knowledge exchange and co-channel interference. Specifically, we first model a client selection problem for jointly optimizing learning performance and system cost under volatile network conditions. The formulated problem is encoded into a node classification problem by a directed graph. Subsequently, a general yet simple solver is designed based on graph neural networks, which selects clients by classifying node status with recursive neighborhood aggregation of node representations. Finally, extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can perform on par with state-of-the-art methods, while scaling to networks whose size is orders of magnitude larger than they can handle.

Cross-Modal Haptic Generation for Emergency Rescue in Internet of Robotic Things

Robots equipped with multi-modal sensing capabilities play an important role in the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT), especially in emergency rescue. However, existing rescue robots pose challenges for human operators in achieving precise manipulation due to the absence of haptic signals. Additionally, limited and fluctuating bandwidth in emergency rescue renders current cross-modal haptic generation schemes ineffective. To overcome this dilemma, we propose a novel cross-modal haptic generation scheme that enhances scalability across diverse network conditions by leveraging correlations among audio-visual-haptic modalities. Specifically, we first propose an edge-device collaboration-based architecture that dynamically extracts semantics from audio-visual signals, tailored to the current network conditions, for haptic generation. This is achieved by predicting the network state at the edge and performing multi-modal encoding and fusion at the device. Next, we design a scalable cross-modal haptic generation scheme that implements the optimal generation strategy based on received audio-visual semantics of different granularities, ensuring real-time acquisition of coarse-grained or fine-grained haptic feedback. Finally, numerical experimental results conducted on a multi-modal dataset and a simulated emergency environment indicate that the proposed scheme reliably generates haptic signals in emergency rescue. © 2025 IEEE.

ScanDTM: A Novel Dual-Temporal Modulation Scanpath Prediction Model for Omnidirectional Images

Scanpath prediction for omnidirectional images aims to effectively simulate the human visual perception mechanism to generate dynamic realistic fixation trajectories. However, the majority of scanpath prediction methods for omnidirectional images are still in their infancy as they fail to accurately capture the time-dependency of viewing behavior and suffer from sub-optimal performance along with limited generalization capability. A desirable solution should achieve a better trade-off between prediction performance and generalization ability. To this end, we propose a novel dual-temporal modulation scanpath prediction (ScanDTM) model for omnidirectional images. Such a model is designed to effectively capture long-range time-dependencies between various fixation regions across both internal and external time dimensions, thereby generating more realistic scanpaths. In particular, we design a Dual Graph Convolutional network (Dual-GCN) module comprising a semantic-level GCN and an image-level GCN. This module servers as a robust visual encoder that captures spatial relationships among various object regions within an image and fully utilizes similar images as complementary information to capture similarity relations across relevant images. Notably, the proposed Dual-GCN focuses on modeling temporal correlations from both local and global perspectives within the internal time dimension. Furthermore, drawing inspiration from the promising generalization capabilities of diffusion models across various generative tasks, we introduce a novel diffusion-guided saliency module. This module formulates the prediction issue as a conditional generative process for the saliency map, utilizing extracted semantic-level and image-level visual features as conditions. With the well-designed diffusion-guided saliency module, our proposed ScanDTM model acting as an external temporal modulator, we can progressively refine the generated scanpath from the noisy map. Heuristic Computing Methods for Contact Plan Design in the Spatial-Node-Based Internet of Everything

To satisfy the increasing demands of high-speed transmission, high-efficiency computing, and real-time communications in the high-dynamic and heterogeneous networks, the Contact Plan Design(CPD) has attracted continuous attention in recent years, especially for the spatial-node-based Internet of Everything(IoE). In this paper, we study the NP-hardness of contact scheduling and the attenuation of atmospheric precipitation in the spatial-node-based IoE. Two heuristic computing methods for contact plan design are proposed by comprehensively considering the time-varying topology, the intermittent connectivity, and the adaptive transmission in different weather conditions, which are named Contact Plan Design-Particle Swarm Optimization(CPD-PSO) and Contact Plan Design-Greedy algorithm with the Minimum Delivery Time(CPD-GMDT) separately. For the population-based algorithm, CPD-PSO not only solves the CPD problem with a limited-resource condition, but also dynamically adjusts the search scope to ensure the continuous searching capability of the algorithm. For the CPD-GMDT that makes CP decisions based on the current state, the algorithm uses the idea of greedy algorithm to schedule Satellite-Platform Links(SPLs) and Inter Satellite Links(ISLs) respectively using the strategies of optimal matching and load balancing. The simulation results show that the proposed CPD-PSO outperforms Contact Plan Design-Genetic Algorithm(CPD-GA) in terms of fitness and delivery time, and CPD-GMDT presents better overall delay than Fair Contact Plan(FCP).

More intelligent vertical handoff (VHO) algorithms which consider user profiles, application requirements, and network conditions must be investigated in order to provide enhanced performance results for user terminal. Moreover, access risk seems to be the strongest requirement of deployment options for next generation wireless networks;therefore, risk conditions gains a significant attention in our research work. In this paper, a cloud model based vertical handoff algorithm is introduced for heterogeneous wireless networks. The parameters: received signal strength (RSS), cost, quality and mobile speed are considered as inputs of the proposed cloud model based system in order to decide handoff initialization process and select the best satisfaction candidate access point. Also, in contrast to the traditional fuzzy logic based VHO algorithms, the method proposed takes ambient access risk level, which is referred to as risk parameter, as another input to the cloud model based cloud inference system. The evaluation results show that the satisfaction degree of handoff is assured for user, and the performance of security is significantly enhanced for mobile terminal by the algorithm proposed. © 2012 IEEE.

Focusing on the problem that the co-frequency interference of the downlink channels in multi-cell of multi-out multi-input (MIMO) systems, this paper used the adaptive network precoding based on the SJNR to reduce the inter-cell interference. First of all, the adaptive precoding design based on the SJNR criteria is given. In this design, each base station use independent precoding approach to suppress adjacent inter-cell interference. And then in order to decrease the handing complex by the active way, the adaptive network precoding is attained respectively in the urban and suburb area environments, two adaptive network precoding based on SJNR are obtained respectively. Simulation results show that the inter-cell interference was obviously restrained and the system performance was improved after using the active network precoding basing on the SJNR, but also reduced processing algorithms of system. © 2010 IEEE.
