Wireless senor networks have more and more applications while fundamental constraint still exists, such as limited power supply and bandwidth. When the sensing signal exhibits spare, we can sampling only a part of signal corresponding to nonzero coefficients. Inspired by recent results in theory of compressive sensing (CS), we propose a data fusion method based on CS. First, we describe the distributed data fusion in UWSNs based on CS. Then, we present a monitoring model of the cyanobacteria bloom-forming (CBF). Finally, we demonstrate the performance analysis and provide concluding remarks. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Wireless communication system plays a more and more important role in many fields. Wireless network using traditional AODV algorithm only considers the minimal hop of all routes and can not meet specific QoS requirements. Some network resources will be wasted to some extend using traditional algorithm. A cognitive routing algorithm, R-AODV, which is based on the AODV algorithm, is proposed in this paper. The new proposed algorithm collects network status and chooses different routing strategy to make the best use of network resources. It may collect network status before having routing algorithm and according to different conditions of current network to choose different routing algorithm, which may make the best use of network resources. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

In recent years, several new TCP congestion control algorithms have been proposed to improve TCP performance for networks of high bandwidth delay products. Satellite-HAP networks providing high-speed data transmissions (up to 1 Gb/s). This article aims to show that the proposed new TCP, as a modification of TCPs congestion control mechanism, allows it to achieve reasonable performance in Satellite-HAP networks. In this paper, we implement the performance simulation in NS-2, and the results demonstrate that the proposed new TCP for Satellite-HAP networks has a considerable performance improvement comparing with the other variations of TCP. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Moving object segmentation in the compressed domain plays an important role in many real-time applications, e.g. video indexing, video surveillance, etc. H.264/AVC is the up-to-date video coding standard, which employs several new coding tools and provides a different video format. In this paper, a robust spatio-temporal segmentation approach to extract moving objects in the compressed domain for H.264 video stream is proposed. Coarse moving objects are firstly extracted from the motion vector field through the MRF classification process. Spatial segmentation is based on the HT coefficient, which is used to refine the object boundary of temporal segmentation results. Fusion of spatio-temporal segmentation is based on region projection based labeling technique. Further edge refinement is performed to smooth the object boundaries. The performance of the proposed approach is illustrated by simulation carried on several test sequences. Experimental results show that the proposed approach can provide the visually similar results as by using spatial domain process with much less computational complexity.

Offloading is an efficient method for extending the lifetime and speeding up the execution rate of mobile devices by executing remotely in mobile cloud computing (MCC) networks. Meanwhile, heterogeneous network (HetNet), which has multiple types of radio access nodes in the network, is widely accepted as a promising way to satisfy the increased traffic demand. In this paper, we first propose two delayoptimized offloading control schemes in LTE-Advanced heterogeneous networks. One of them is to control the number of offloading users by setting a threshold. Another is to determine whether the users are suited to offload by estimating the execution delay. Both of them take the traffic load of serving cell and neighbouring cells into account. For comparison purpose, the delay performance of different schemes are evaluated by simulations in not only heterogeneous network but also macro-only network. © Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2014.

DTN is developed as an emerging network technology which is mainly used in network with long waiting time, intermittent connectivity, and other extreme environments network. It has be favored in the military, transportation, marine monitoring, wildlife tracking, satellites communications and have been applied in some aspects. Currently, there is a lot of research about the DTN. The study includes three hot issues: the routing nodes, DTN-based mobility model and the data distribution and retrieval. To better solve the problem of data distribution and retrieval in DTN, an improved routing algorithm is proposed in this paper. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Wi-Fi has been widely deployed with the rapid development of wireless communication technique. Wi-Fi hotspots are popular in campus, making convenient wireless network access possible. However, during class teaching, in order to avoid students browsing the web based on Wi-Fi hotspots and distracting, we hope Wi-Fi hotspots adaptively shield network access to students in the classroom, while grant access to users outside the classroom. In this work, we prototype TA3C system, a teaching-oriented adaptive Wi-Fi authorized access control scheme, using Channel State Information (CSI) to locate instead of coarse-grained and temporally unstable Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI). CSI can distinguish multipath signals, stay stable in the same propagation environment, and show different characteristics in different propagation environments, based on which, we can distinguish outdoor and indoor environments, and identify user's location to decide whether to offer him wireless network access or not. Experiment results show that TA3C effectively achieve adaptive Wi-Fi authorized access control, which provides a guarantee for the quality of class teaching. Compared to traditional indoor localization techniques, TA3C does not need accurate location information but simply recognizes user's location indoors or outdoors, which means it does not need dedicated hardware, realizing the low-cost indoor localization technique.

Fatigue driving is one of the main reasons that cause sever accidents. It's necessary to detect fatigue state and warn drivers to avoid life-threatening accidents. There are many related technologies to detect fatigue, some of which based on physiological information or face features. However, biological indicators are difficult to analyze in real-time and the signal sensor is invasive while image-based approaches have relatively strong subjective. Hence, in this paper, a method combined physiological information and face features is employed. We use near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) on behalf of physical states and eye and mouth condition representing face states. Firstly, Multi-Task Convolutional Neural network (MTCNN) was used to extract image features and then a lightly classifier was designed to recognize the state of face states. Finally, we use Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model to fuse these characters and predict fatigue. Experiment results show that the method proposed have a high accuracy about 95.8% and fast speed about 6.12ms to detect fatigue.
