The sustainable development of the ocean requires sensors capable of detecting objects in underwater or high humidity conditions. However, traditional sensors struggle in complex underwater environments due to signal attenuation, biofouling, and flow interference, which seriously affect the performance and reliability. Inspired by the tactile system of octopus suckers, we developed a tactile sensor that mimics the structure of octopus tentacle suckers, ingeniously harnessing triboelectric tactile receptors (TTRs) to emulate the mechanism of cephalopod-specific chemoreceptors (CRs), aiming to address the challenging problem of underwater object recognition. Additionally, the superhydrophobic treatment increases the microstructure of the sensor surface, effectively mitigating environmental interference and improved underwater performance, resulting in a 67% increase in voltage output, a sensitivity of 0.195 V kPa-1, and a remarkable response time of only 85 ms. Most importantly, we have constructed an underwater material identification system (UMIS) to achieve 98% accuracy by integrating machine learning, which enables precise identification and quantitative sensing of underwater objects, offering novel insights and directions for the intelligence and autonomy of underwater robots. © 2024, The Authors. As people come into contact with image data more often, high quality and clear images attract more attention. Many methods have been proposed to deal with image noise problem including deep learning (DL). However most of them is lack of capability when customers want more perceptual details of the image without information loss. In this paper, a deep residual network based on generative adversarial (GAN) network was proposed to complete the image denoising mission. Firstly, a generative-adversarial network structure based on residual blocks was designed. Secondly, a refined loss function was given to train the GAN network. The well designed loss function can help the generated image to be very close to the clear counterpart (ground truth) while enhancing more details in colours and brightness. Finally, extensive experiments show that our network is not only convincing for images denoising, but also effective for other image process tasks, such as image defogging, medical CT denoising etc., presenting impressive and competitive effects. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A kind of nonlinear noninstantaneous impulsive equation with state-dependent delay is studied here. By utilizing suitable fixed point theorem and the theory of semigroup in Banach space, the uniqueness and existence results of S $$ \mathcal{S} $$ -asymptotically w $$ w $$ -periodic mild solutions are obtained, respectively. In the end, two examples are presented to demonstrate the validity of the obtained results.

Event-Triggered Differentially Private Average Consensus for Multi-agent Network

This paper investigates the differentially private problem of the average consensus for a class of discrete-time multi-agent network systems(MANSs). Based on the MANSs,a new distributed differentially private consensus algorithm(DPCA) is developed. To avoid continuous communication between neighboring agents, a kind of intermittent communication strategy depending on an event-triggered function is established in our DPCA. Based on our algorithm, we carry out the detailed analysis including its convergence, its accuracy, its privacy and the trade-off between the accuracy and the privacy level, respectively. It is found that our algorithm preserves the privacy of initial states of all agents in the whole process of consensus computation. The trade-off motivates us to find the best achievable accuracy of our algorithm under the free parameters and the fixed privacy level. Finally, numerical experiment results testify the validity of our theoretical analysis.

Application of multiple two-dimensional interpolation methods to bathymetric data on the FVCOM unstructured triangular grid

In general, the ocean bathymetric dataset is defined on a uniform rectangular grid, whereas FVCOM employs an unstructured triangular grid. Consequently, it is necessary to interpolate the data from the nodes of the rectangular grid onto those of the triangular grid. The nearest neighbor method, bilinear method, and inverse distance weighting (IDW) method are three commonly utilized two-dimensional interpolation techniques, and inverse distance weighted regression (IDWR) represents a more recent interpolation approach. In this study, these methods were applied to interpolate the bathymetric data of the Hormuz Strait and the North Indian Ocean onto the FVCOM triangular grid. The experimental results demonstrate that a very small error in the interpolation of bathymetric data was achieved. Additionally, these methods were compared with the interpolation techniques provided by the MATLAB system. The comparative analysis reveals that the bilinear method can achieve a superior interpolation effect compared to the other three methods.

ISS -equilibrium with stability analysis for disturbed game-based impulsive systems

This paper focuses on a class of two-player differential games subject to exogenous disturbances, where one player employs piecewise-continuous control, and the other uses impulsive control. Particularly, the exploration of equilibrium solution in differential games is accompanied by the stability performance analysis of relevant system. To be more specific, the construction of saddle point in zero-sum differential game and Nash equilibrium in nonzero-sum differential game is established under the Lyapunov criteria for input-to-state stability ( ISS ). Furthermore, owing to the existence of external disturbances and the characterization of ISS property, two extended equilibrium solution concepts are introduced. We propose the definition of ϵ - ISS saddle point and ϵ - ISS Nash equilibrium for which the corresponding verification theorems are formulated. Finally, two numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the proposed results.

According to previous studies, high anxiety leads to an increase in beta power, while pleasure and relaxation of emotion reduces beta power. In this experiment, the International Standard Picture Stimulation Library(IAPS) was used to induce positive and negative emotions of subjects, and EEG signals were collected when subjects were looking at pictures. Comparing the beta power of positive and negative EEG induced by before and after exercise, we found that the power of beta stimulated by positive and negative pictures before exercise is generally greater than that after exercise. It indicates that subjects were happier when facing positive stimuli than before exercise, and less negative emotions were produced when facing negative stimuli than before exercise. In short, acute moderate intensity exercise can improve people's negative emotion in the face of negative stimuli. The purpose of this study is to explore the mechanism of the effect of acute moderate intensity exercise on emotion by analyzing beta power in late positive potential (LPP). © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

This study aims to design a real-time electrocardiogram (ECG) and heart rate monitoring system based on Android. The system connects Android device and a Shimmer3 ECG module, which is a wearable ECG device collecting ECG data with five electrodes. The ECG signal is amplified and filtered by internal circuit processing in Shimmer3 ECG module, and the ECG data is transmitted to an Android phone via Bluetooth. The baseline drift in ECG signal is removed through wavelet decomposition and reconstruction. Then, the processed ECG data are used to find the R wave peaks by an algorithm for automatic R peak locating and RR interval calculation. RR interval waveform is plotted and displayed on an Android phone in real time. Finally, ECG and RR intervals are saved for data playback and subsequent analysis.

This paper investigates the distributed optimization problem over multi-agent networks, in which the target of agents is to collaboratively optimize the sum of all local objective functions. Each local objective function is uniquely known by a single agent. We concentrate on the scenario where communication among agents is portrayed as directed graphs. Based on the exact first order method, a fully distributed optimization algorithm is proposed to deal with the optimization problem. The proposed algorithm utilizes row-stochastic matrices and uncoordinated step-sizes, which exactly drives all agents to converge to the global optimization solution. Under the assumptions that the global objective function is strong convex and the local objective functions have Lipschitz continuous gradient, we show that the proposed algorithm linearly converges to the global optimization solution as long as the maximum step-size of agents does not exceed an explicitly characterized upper bound. Finally, numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the correctness of theoretical analysis. © 2019 IEEE.
