This paper concerns the tracking control problem for a class of nonlinear networked controlsystems (NCSs) with external disturbances. A Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is employed to represent the nonlinear controlled plant in the NCSs. Both network-induced delay and packet dropout are addressed. The control scheme is based on a parallel distributed compensation (PDC) structure, a fuzzy observer and a H ∞ performance to attenuate the external disturbances. The stability of the whole closed-loop model is investigated using a general Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. The key point of the proposed approaches is to achieve conditions under a linear matrix inequalities (LMI) formulation in the case of a disturbed T-S fuzzy model. This formulation facilitates obtaining solutions through interior point optimization methods for some nonlinear NCSs tracking problems. A numerical example is used to illustrate the validity of the design methodology.

This paper presents an identification technique to identify models for Parameter-Varying Spatially Interconnected systems. The main focus of the note is the case when there is additive colored noise in the output of the data generating system. A Refined Instrumental Variable method is proposed to identify parameter-varying spatially interconnected models with Box-Jenkins structure. The technique allows identification of models for general multi-dimensional systems, which may be separable or non-separable, causal, semi-causal (spatially interconnected systems) or non-causal. The effectiveness of the method is shown with application to simulation example.

This article explores, through a case study, measures of energy efficiency in data processing centers. An analysis of this case demonstrates how the design criteria could improve the rate of consumption in IT centers, which is currently the second most contaminating industry on the planet, and is the responsible for 2% of CO2 emissions, surpassed only by the aeronautical industry. The present and future situation of IT center energy consumption and associated environmental effects is analyzed, and also looks at how state-of-the-art technology, correctly implemented, could ensure significant rationalization of data processing center energy consumption. The article will examine optimization techniques, specific problems and case studies.

The single-phase induction machine (SPIM) has the advantage of being powered by a single-phase voltage source. The availability of this power allows it to be widely used: electric household appliances, portable machine tools... However, this type of machine has not yet taken its whole share from various works present until now, in comparison with the three-phase induction machine. With the object of contributing to the study of this machine, we propose in this article a new decoupling approach in the vector control block, based on the the Fuzzy Logic; in order to solve the problem of decreasing the rotor flux. Indeed, the vector control of single phase induction machine using conventional decoupling approaches has a remarkable decrease of rotor flux when the machine is powered by a real voltage source inverter (VSI). For three different decoupling approaches with two types of supply: perfect voltage source and real voltage source inverter; a comparative study through numerical simulations is presented. The simulation results show the feasibility and good performance obtained by the proposed approach.

This paper reports on a special-purpose controller dedicated to an implantable spinal cord electrical stimulation (SCS) microsystem. The controller supports parallel biphasic stimulation pulses on 16 channels concurrently, and recording neural response on any one of the sites with 8 bits of resolution. Anodic and cathodic pulse amplitudes are programmable with 8 bits of resolution, while the timing of the pulses is controllable in the real time through the data packets receiving serially via a wireless link.

In this paper, a low power and fast DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) using multiplier-less method is presented with a new modified FGA (Flow-Graph Algorithm), which is derived from our previously presented FGA of DCT based on Loeffler algorithm. The multiplier-less method is based on the replacement of multiplications with a minimum number of additions and shifts. The proposed FGA is performed and compared to a previous one. The results of FPGA implementations on Altera Cyclone II show the increase of the maximum frequency, the decrease of the resources usage and the reduction of the dynamic power by 7.2 % at 120 MHz of clock frequency with a new proposed FGA algorithm. Another comparison with recent published results has been done and proves the efficiency of the proposed FGA.
