This paper addresses the dissolved oxygen tracking problem in multi-zone bioreactor. The proposed approach utilizes decentralized control system incorporating fuzzy multiregional PI controllers so that satisfactory controller performance can be robustly and reliably achieved over a whole process operating range. A fuzzy supervisor of the completely decentralized control system is introduced in order to meet a global actuator capacity constraint. An overall control system can be implemented by using fairly standard equipment that is commonly available at a plant site.

This paper presents a modeling technique and considers the water network distribution under three typical operating scenarios. Robustly feasible model predictive control structure and algorithms are applied to the control problem. The computing time issue of optimization solvers is addressed and improved by supplying the corresponding gradients. The analytical method of finding the required gradients intensively utilizes the Hamiltonian function. Comparisons between two different optimization solvers as well as between control strategies are verified by computer simulation under MATLAB-EPANET environment.

This paper engages in the Model Predictive control of an Air Pressure system. The Air Pressure system includes a pneumatic and an electronic part. The model of the system was created using a tool for systems identifications. Since the system is nonlinear we can use the model linearization and set the constraints to create the Model Predictive controller in MATLAB environment. The connectivity between PC and the air pressure system is realized by I/O card MF624. We provided the stability test as well. The PID controller was also designed to compare the results with those obtained from the Model Predictive controller of the mentioned Air Pressure control system.

Predictive control seems to be a promising approach that can help to improve properties of existing ventilation systems applied in road tunnels. Advantages of predictive control result mainly from its ability to solve both SISO and MIMO tasks, to have regard for dynamics of process changes in a broad extent, to compensate effect of measurable and non-measurable failures and to formulate the task as an optimization control task considering limiting conditions of control actions, changes of control actions and output variables. Data characterizing the existing ventilation system can be used to analyze and identify the system and create its models. Thereafter the predictive control of ventilation can be designed enabling to predict concentrations of pollutants and optimize system operation.
