This paper presents a short-term prediction of the disturbance storm time (DST) index using unscented Kalman filter. Joint and dual estimation methods are studied to examine an improvement of DST index prediction by estimating modal parameters and updating recursively. Comparison between these teachniquies and a fixed model parameter prediction are made in terms of root mean square error (rmse). It is found that joint and dual estimation methods give less rmse than state estimation alone for all DST range, whereas state estimation alone shows better performance than joint and dual estimation for DST below-80 nT.

A 3 Degree of Freedom Rotary Table is a robotic mechanism which brings about rotational movements. This mechanism helps to make a movement scenario in order to test Guidance and Navigation systems of moving vehicles. It has complicated dynamic equations. Having these equations in hand is crucial for control objectives. It is shown that we have obtained these equations by applying the Newton's Second Law for Rotation instead of using common methods in robotic modeling such as Denavit-Hartenberg and Newton-Euler methods. We have extracted full dynamic equations that contain all designing parameters such as Moment of Inertia factor in all round and even the unbalanced and wobble effect. Finally we have verified obtained equations by simulating them in MATLAB software.

Steel making is known as a complex manufacturing industrial process. Automation of the process represents a challenge. Empirical mathematical modeling of the process was used to design mill equipment, ensure productivity and service quality. This modeling approach shows many problems associated to complexity and time consumption. Soft computing techniques show significant modeling capabilities on handling complex nonlinear systems modeling. In this paper, we explore the use of Takagi-Sugeno (TS) technique to develop fuzzy models for the Hot-Rolling industrial nonlinear process. We propose three models for the rolling force, torque and slab temperature. A set of rules and membership functions which represents the dynamical relationship between the input and output of these models shall be presented. The performance of the fuzzy models will be compared to the known empirical models for the hot rolling system. Experimental data measured from the Ere˜gli Iron and Steel Factory in Turkey shall be used for the verification of the model outstanding performance.

The paper presents a new systematic analysis method in order to estimate the total absorbed power and energy in linear electric and magnetic circuits with modifiable parameters. The relation between the variation in one or all the resistances and reluctances of the networks and the variation of total absorbed power and energy are discussed using the Lagrange's method. For the considered applications the results are obtained with Mathematica and Maple useful for establishing the variation limits of absorbed power and energy.

This paper discusses the computing development of a control algorithm using predictive functional control (PFC) for model-based that having one or more unstable poles. One basic ballistic missile model is used as an unstable model to formulate the control law algorithm using PFC. PFC algorithm development is computationally simple as a controller and it is not very complicated as the function of a missile will explode as it reaches the target. Furthermore, the analysis and issues of the implementation relating linear discrete-time unstable process are also being discussed. Hence, designed PFC algorithm need to find the suitable tuning parameters as its play an important part of the designing the autopilot controller. Thus, the tuning of the desired time constant, ¿ and small coincidence horizon n1 in a single coincidence point shows that the PFC control law is built better in the dynamic pole of the unstable missile mode. As a result, by using a trajectory set-point, some positive results is presented and discussed as the missile follow its reference trajectory via some simulation using MATLAB 7.0.
