The purpose of this study is to evaluate the amount of cost and use of time that has been used in the Improvement Project Street Alue Raya-Line Pipa Lhokseumawe City. The method that used in this study is the concept of yield value (earned value analysis) review trends in schedule variants and cost variants for a period during the project. By doing this earned value study method, evaluating the completion of the project with BPWP = IDR. 864.310.464,06, BCWS = IDR. 393.436.638,08, and ACWP = IDR. 591.235.630,69, in terms of cost variance (CV) > 0 with cost performance index (CPI) > 1 so that is obtained project completion cost (EAC) 68% of a budget plan that is IDR. 2.037.182.494,70, while from the schedule aspects the project is decreasing in time by 47% of plan or 16 weeks to be 9,45 weeks indicated value SPI > 1.

In the recent years, the frequency of motorcycle collision in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya, is constantly increasing. This article will explain the use of the Generalized Additive Models (GAMs) to estimate motorcycle collision on collector roads in Surabaya. This study uses GAMs with Gaussian distribution and logarithmic link function, as well as application of software R in data processing. The case study takes place on urban roads in Surabaya, Indonesia. In this study, 69 roads of 120 collector roads in Surabaya are selected. The final model of this study indicates the relationship between the frequency of motorcycle collision on collector roads with explanatory variables which consists of traffic volume, road length, accessibility, road width, number of lanes, and traffic speed. Increasing values of explanatory variables in the prediction model lead to increased risk of accidents. These findings are expected to be considered in programs planned to reduce motorcycle collision on collector roads in Surabaya and other cities.

The utilization of fly ash (FA) into concrete has become a common practice in ready mix concrete production throughout the world, including Indonesia. The inclusion of this by product material into concrete has two main advantages: decreasing cost of material by reducing cement content and reducing waste produced from power plant operation. Despite almost two decades of experience and application, low compressive strength of concrete containing FA often occurs in construction projects in Indonesia. This paper describes one case of low compressive strength of concrete containing FA in a project located in East Java. During project construction, it was found from routine compressive test of concrete cylinders that the 28 days design strength was not achieved. Steps and measure taken following this incident are fully described. Non-destructive and destructive concrete test were employed to gain more data from concrete structures already casted with this mixture. Finally, possible cause of low compressive strength are identified and solutions are given to solve this problem.
