The difference-of-convex algorithm (DCA) and its variants are the most popular methods to solve the difference-of-convex optimization problem. Each iteration of them is reduced to a convex optimization problem, which generally needs to be solved by iterative methods such as proximal gradient algorithm. However, these algorithms essentially belong to some iterative methods of fixed point problems of averaged mappings, and their convergence speed is generally slow. Furthermore, there is seldom research on the termination rule of these iterative algorithms solving the subproblem of DCA. To overcome these defects, we firstly show that the subproblem of the linearized proximal method (LPM) in each iteration is equal to the fixed point problem of a contraction. Secondly, by using Picard iteration to approximately solve the subproblem of LPM in each iteration, we propose a contractive difference-of-convex algorithm (cDCA) where an adaptive termination rule is presented. Both global subsequential convergence and global convergence of the whole sequence of cDCA are established. Earthquakes frequently cause significant damage to residential buildings and lead to loss of life. As a result, houses in earthquake-prone areas must adhere to earthquake-resistant building codes. Recently, RISHA (Simple Healthy Instant House), developed by PUSKIM (Center for Settlement Research and Housing Development), has been commonly implemented as housing in areas impacted by earthquakes, including East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Aceh, and Cianjur Regency, RISHA homes have been provided to residents in relocation areas. This study aims to assess the viability of using RISHA as a replacement for conventional houses in Cianjur Regency. The analysis predicts the structural response of RISHA and conventional houses to the Cianjur earthquake, using the spectrum response method based on SNI 1726:2019. Using SAP2000 software, the study evaluates deflection, bending moment, and base shear force. The findings indicate that RISHA exhibits lower deflection, bending moment, and shear force compared to conventional houses, with values being 12.5%, 65%, and 66.5% of those in traditional houses, respectively. Based on these results, it is concluded that RISHA offers superior structural performance in resisting earthquakes compared to conventional residential buildings. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study proposes a new approach, a communal-based domestic rainwater harvesting (CDRWH) system, which is a new model that combines domestic and communal rainwater harvesting systems. This model is an alternative solution to improve system performance and utilize rainwater overflow from the system. Rainwater runoff from several domestic tanks is channeled to a communal tank to be collected, processed, and redistributed to needy domestic tanks. Overflow from the communal tank is used for groundwater recharge. The CDRWH system model aims to increase water supply, reduce runoff, and conserve groundwater. The model simulation uses daily water balance analysis and yield before spillage algorithm. The simulation scenario uses variations in roof area, number of house occupants, storage tank volume, and rainfall categories: 20 years, wet year, normal year, and dry year. Jagakarsa, an urban area in South Jakarta, was selected for the CDRWH system modeling. The results showed that the CDRWH model significantly improved the performance of the volumetric reliability (VR) and time reliability (TR) systems. In addition, the model could show a comparison of total groundwater recharge (GWR) and groundwater extraction (GWE), where the GWR capacity was higher. This allows centralized rainwater management in communal tanks, thereby reducing groundwater usage. The design of this model is simple. Therefore it can be easily duplicated for application in other locations. © 2025 The Authors

The consistency and effectively trap of microplastics (MPs) removal in recent studies on the water treatment stages of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) has achieved up to 90 % and diverted the retained MPs which then settled into sewage sludge (SS). However, the effects of SS treatment stages and spatiotemporal factors can influence the concentration of MPs and remain insufficiently understood. This study investigates the presence and spatiotemporal patterns of MPs in six WWTPs in Taiwan, especially on SS. This study also assesses diversities and ecological risks, providing insights into the distributions and potential dangers of these pollutants. It was found that the concentration of MPs in SS has a range of 32.79-85.06 × 103 items/kg DW. The characteristics of color, shape, size, and polymer are mostly white (26.19 %), fiber (43.25 %), 50-125 μm (54.15 %), and polystyrene (41.35 %), respectively. Furthermore, due to increased anthropogenic activities in the summer season, the MPs level was significantly higher (11.22 %) compared to winter. Diversities and risks of MPs in spatial and temporal conditions were significantly different. Heavy metal and microplastic pollutions are prevalent in freshwater ecosystems, with many freshwater bodies being contaminated by one or both of these pollutants. Recent studies reported extreme detections of Cd, Pb and Zn, high concentrations of Cr, Pb and Cu and microplastics acting as vectors of pollutants, including heavy metals. Mayflies can serve as bioindicators of heavy metal contamination in freshwater ecosystems because changes in their community structure, physiology, and behaviour can reflect and help predict the concentrations of metals in these environments. This review discusses the ecological alterations induced by tissue metal concentration in mayflies and other macroinvertebrates. As sensitive taxa to heavy metal contamination, mayflies can reflect the impacts of this pollution through their ethology and relationship to the substrate, highlighting issues such as eutrophication, alterations in community structure, inhibitory effects and sediment toxicity. Mayflies are also highly affected by microplastic exposure, which leads to ingestion, bioaccumulation, biomagnification, habitat and community alteration, behavioural changes, physiology alteration and toxicity. Mayflies bioindication metrics for assessing the impact of heavy metals and microplastics include the examination of community alteration, functional feeding behaviour, molecular structure, dietary and toxicity impacts, bioaccumulation and biomagnification and biomarkers. Current challenges for the utilization of mayflies as bioindicators include temporal variations in sensitivity, lack of universally recognised protocols and need for standardised protocols for microplastic analysis. Additionally, the applicability of mayflies as bioindicators may vary across different ecosystems, emphasising the need for selecting suitable indicators that align with the unique characteristics of the ecosystem. © 2024 The Authors

Gejayan intersection is located in Sleman Regency of Yogyakarta. Fly Over will be constructed at the intersection in the ring road of Yogyakarta. The nearest intersection to the east is Gejayan Intersection with a distance of 1573.11 meters. Gejayan intersection performance in 2018 has reached saturation by having Level of Service E. The more severe conditions will occur in the next 10-20 years. If it is planned using Fly Over on the ring road in Yogyakarta connecting Gejayan intersection, the vehicles flow must have other alternative by road widening. The most important step is to predict the Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC). After the Fly Over operation, VOC can be calculated to determine the cost saving. The scenario to predict VOC was 80% of vehicle volume would pass the Fly Over, and the 20% would still use the existing road. The results showed that the cost saving of Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC) of the existing road compared to the fly over use in 2019 was IDR 37,941,324,952. In 2039 the saving would be IDR 240,232,694,488. If the road was only widened, the cost saving of VOC in 2019 would be IDR 9,084,204923 and in 2039 would be IDR 72,107,188,198. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The use of rubber tire scraded in the developement of porous asphalt technology as a part of flexible pavement aims to minimize the adverse effects of transportation facilities. The use of rubber tire scraded as an asphalt modifier in the pavement can provide several benefits, including reducing reflective cracking on overlays, reducing maintenance cost, increaseing resistance to new pavement cracking and rutting, increasing skid resistance an pavement age. This paper presents laboratory investigation on the effect of seawater immersion on porous asphalt performance using rubber tire scraded. Method use in laboratory investigation is based on AAPA 2004 and Bina Marga 2010. The results showed the permeability all types of mixture indicator "moderate drainage". The results of testing the Marshall characteristics showed a decrease in the value of stability, flow, and MQ in the porous asphalt mixture with Pen 60/70 asphalt and rubber asphalt as the duration of sea water immersion increased. The porous asphalt mixture using Pen 60/70 asphalt and rubber asphalt has Index of Retained Strength values which tend to decrease with increasing sea water immersion duration. Indirect Tensile Stength test results due to seawater submersion indicate a decrease in ITS value in porous asphalt mixtures with Pen 60/70 asphalt and rubber asphalt. The Cantabro test results showed an increase along with the increasing duration of seawater immersion. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Central government role in road infrastructure development and economic growth in the form of future study: the case of Indonesia

Road infrastructure development in a country has been considered an important predictor of economic development and prosperity. Hence applying a systematic analysis approach, this study aims to project the future role of the central government in developing road infrastructure and its significance in the country's economic growth. The main data sources were the literature review and expert opinions in the form of self-administrative surveys and interviews. Besides, the Cross-impact Direct Influence (CDI) matrix was applied to formulate the questionnaire. For the data analysis purpose, MICMAC analysis and Scenario Wizard software were used. The MICMAC analysis results revealed the dominant role of 9 important/key variables in developing the Indonesian road infrastructure. Simultaneously 24 positive states of the important variables what identified via the Scenario-Wizard Method. Findings also depicted stronger consistency among the four scenarios. Whereas Scenario 1 showed the most ideal 9 key features related to Indonesia’s road infrastructure developments with a high intensity of concentrating the efforts on planning road infrastructure development in big cities and use of smart and modern technology. Moreover, presenting a group of constructs for developing road infrastructure and resultant economic growth in the country, the current study adds value to the existing literature. © 2023, The Author(s).

South Sumatra is one of the provinces whose development is very rapid in Indonesia. With the increasing development of centers of economic activity, politics, socio-culture and education make it an attraction for residents outside the city to travel to Palembang City. However, the condition of the eksisting highway which has become the driver's mainstay for travelling are not free of congestion. This causes travel time and Vehicle operational costs increase for every vehicle that passes the road. To overcome this problem, the government brought investors to build a toll road. The results of preliminary research show that people are still confused about the benefits through toll roads which are built besides travel time faster because they have to spend money to pay tolls. The main objective of this study was to determine the vehicle operating costs (VOC) using both roads with the Pacific Consultant International Method (PCI) and Industrial and Affiliate Research, Bandung Institute of Technology (LAPI ITB). Variable of the equation to determine the cost components is travel speed determined the Floating Car Method. The results show that the operational costs of vehicles (VOC) through toll roads are smaller when compared with existing roads. VOC of passenger cars that pass through the existing road in the morning Rp. 3395.45, trucks 2 axles loaded Rp. 5570.55 and trucks 2 axles with no payload of Rp. 3815.00, while if through toll road, passenger cars Rp. 2618.82 and trucks 2 axles Rp. 2918.71. In addition, information is obtained, more than 90% of drivers only consider fuel costs, they do not consider the cost of other variable variables in choosing a route. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Concrete is a generally used material in building construction. The construction will be built on the ground and could also be in places exposed to sea water. Sulfate contained in ground water and sea water could cause sulfate aggression to concrete itself. Therefore, the research used Reactive Powder Concrete which is one of the concretes that is currently popular and has a high durability. The research was done by doing a constant repetition of saturated sulfate submersion and specimen abstersion. The varieties of specimen used along with the research such as Type I, Type II, and PCC variations of cements, also varieties fas 0.2 and fas 0.25. Research shown that Reactive Powder Concrete which is contained type II cement has the best resistance because the compressive strength does not reduced to 30% and the reduced weight is less than 1% when exposed to high concentration of sulfate. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
