The field-scale cleanup of petroleum oil-contaminated soils from the Minas Oil Fields in Indonesia was investigated using bioremediation. Sawdust produced from palm fronds was used as a bulking agent, and fermented with manure as an amylolytic and cellulolytic source of microflora. Petrophylic bacteria were used as augmented along with stimulated indigenous microflora overgrown onsite. The findings demonstrated that after 150 days of bioremediation, the operation effectively eliminated 165.79 kg of TPH from 2,565 m3 of contaminated soil, with a recovery cost of 161 USD per m3 of treated soil. The initial average TPH concentration in the soil was 64,799 mg/kg. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

24d Netafim sprinkler meganet performance test on discharge variations for urban agriculture

In cities, many rice fields have changed their function to housing, offices, hotels, and others, so that agricultural land is getting narrower, many irrigation canals have turned into drainage channels, and some are even closed so that irrigation access for land that is still productive cannot be done. So that land that is still productive does not have access to irrigation water. To support agricultural activities, it is necessary to select an appropriate irrigation method from conventional to more technical methods such as the use of mini sprinklers that are already on the market, so that they are not disturbed by the existing irrigation canals. For this reason, it is necessary to test the mini mega net 24D Netafim sprinkler irrigation system with various variations discharge of the pump. The performance test was carried out on an area of 0.98 are using a source of irrigation water from a Shimizu PS-121-BIT type pump. The testing phase starts from the preparation of materials and tools, preparation of the irrigation network, testing of the flow of discharge, and testing of irrigation sprinklers. Meanwhile, the analyzed data includes data of discharge variations, radius data, and irrigation uniformity data. The results showed that the test with discharge variations Q1 = 0.59 l / s, Q2 = 0.54 l / s, Q3 = 0.46 l / s and Q4 = 0.37 l / s obtained uniformity (Cu) respectively 85,759, 85,760, 87,109 and 87,603%, on the average number is more than 85%. The shower radius of each of the above discharge variations is R1 = 4.54, R2 = 4.31, R3 = 4.13 and R4 = 3.96 m. So, the performance of the irrigation system with the 24D Netafim sprinkler is good, so it can be applied for certain types of agricultural crops.

Human activities have caused concerns over the contamination of trace elements in aquatic systems due to their toxicity, long-lasting nature, and ability to accumulate in living organisms. This study evaluated the spatial pattern, environmental hazard, and potential health hazard of 13 trace metals in water and sediment samples collected from the Johor River basin using multivariate statistical techniques in order to identify the impact of both natural and human-related factors on the presence of trace metals in the area. The increased levels of metals in Station S1 indicated a significant impact from municipal, domestic, and industrial waste. The Geo-accumulation Index (I_geo) values for pollution and ecological indices in the sediment of the Johor River Basin ranged from -9.44 to 6.27. The Pollution Load Index (PLI) values ranged from 0.05 to 0.18, and the Potential Ecological Risk Assessment (RI) values ranged from 2.15 to 11.18. These results indicate that the sediments in the Johor River Basin have a low risk of contamination from trace metals. The water's hazard quotient (HQ) had an average value of 0.0001, while the hazard index (HI) had an average value of 0.0003. It is important to increase stakeholders' understanding and concerns regarding the potential long-term human health and ecological implications associated with trace metals in Johor River water. The results of this study offer essential initial information for government entities to implement sustainable management strategies, reducing the likelihood of future trace metal contamination issues in the Johor River basin and similar regions. © 2024 European Regional Centre for Ecohydrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Biogas technology from cow manure in Indonesia has been developing for a long time, but the application of its use as an alternative energy source is not yet widely developed, due to various unknown operations and processes. This research aimed to analyzed of biogas fermentation time in batch system of cow manure. This research used a Fixed Dome type biodigester that had a total volume of 500 litters with its operating system in batches with 80% of the slurry containing cow manure and the rest for the gas chamber. The biogas fermentation time were 5, 10,15,20 25 and 30 days. The raw material from cow manure had an organic COD content of 10.240 mg / l with a pH of 6.7. The C/N feed ratio was set in the condition of 25: 1 and the ratio of slurry of cow manure with water was 1: 1. From the results of the study in batch process, it was found that the longer the fermentation time the higher the methane gas content but the methane gas content decreases on the 30 th day from 59,12% on the 25 th day to 50,04% on the 30 th day of fermentation.

Investigation of the immersion resistance of the HRS-WC mixtures with applying static loading

The inclusion of rainwater often compounds the damage to the road before reaching the plan life through the surface and shoulders of roads. This can lead to the release of aggregates and exfoliation of asphalt on the surface layer. The study aims to determine the level of road durability against the Marshall, volumetric, and durability properties of the HRS-WC mixture. The study used various static loading 100 Kpa, 150 Kpa, and 200 Kpa with immersion. In the immersion method, there are two differences, namely, immersion with and immersion without loading. The test objects' loading using a simple and economical test tool utilizes the beams and iron cylinders obtained from the laboratory, testing using Marshall Test. The results of the analysis obtained the durability of unloading soaked value higher than the load. The analysis results showed that the durability of the mixture was soaked seven days with a load of 100 KPa was 77.40%, for 150 Kpa amounted to 52.02%, and for 200 KPa, which is 47.67%. Analysis results showed a 7-day immersion value with a cumulative load of 68.38%, while analysis results showed a seven day immersion value with periodic loading of 75.43%.

Analysis of erosion and sedimentation in predicting the life time of the Cieunteung Retention Basin

The high rates of erosion and sedimentation as the impacts of changes in land use cause the problem of sedimentation. The aim of this research is to analyse erosion and sedimentation in the Upper Citarum sub-basin, which will impact the life time of the Cieunteung retention basin. The SWAT model was used to simulate the hydrological process and erosion mechanism by using the formula of MUSLE. Based on the results of simulation data, the highest average erosion equalled 1, 094 tons/ha/year in 2013 while the lowest average erosion equalled 71.16 tons/ha/year in 2009. The results of SWAT model calibration in 2008-2018 were R2 = 0.89 and NS = 0.95, which means the model performance is categorized as very good. The simulation results showed the anticipative indicators of watershed disaster, as the erosion hazard index in terms of land cover and the coefficient of river regime in terms of water availability, have a very close relationship and positive correlation with the average of R2 = 0.8. The incoming sediment to the Cieunteung retention basin is 105, 418 ton/year or 72, 551.961 m3/year. By using sediment trap efficiency with a value of 4.37%, this research estimated that the dead storage capacity of 113, 670.3 m3 will be filled with sediments in 35.87 years. Furthermore, the long-term retention basin conservation effort by land terracing can reduce total sediments by 22% to 81, 948 tons in 2018, and thus the life time of the Cieunteung retention basin becomes 46.15 years.

Response of load-displacement on cubical sample of Oil-Palm shell with fly ash concrete using digital image correlation system

Oil-Palm industry produces some side products as solid waste which consist of 23% empty oil palm bunches, 6.5% oil palm shell, and 13% fiber from the main products. Reusing oil palm waste is very important to increase economic value and reduce potential pollution. One of the ways to exploit Oil Palm Shell (OPS) byproduct is to substitute the uses of natural coarse aggregate in concrete structure as building material. study on the use fly ash as one of the admixtures to increase OPS concrete compressive strength has been conducted. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) as a method of displacement response measurement was applied. Fujifilm XA-3 was used as primary camera to capture the image with speed of 3 frames per second (fps). An open source 2D-DIC, Ncorr v1.2 and MatLab student version of R2020a were used. The obtained average compressive strength is 25 MPa, the average of stiffness of the specimens is 946.95 kN/mm and the average of Poisson Ratio is 0.22 (range 0.21-0.22).

Analysis on Calculation of Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) Before and After Flyover & Road Widening Operation at Gedangan Intersection in Sidoarjo Regency

The main road that connects the city of Sidoarjo to Surabaya is the intersection of Gedangan. By 2018 it has reached saturation by having a poor service level. More severe conditions will occur in the next 10-20 years. One of the government's efforts to overcome the problem of congestion, damage structure is the construction of flyover or other alternatives by widening the road. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of the traffic and to save vehicle operating costs before and after the construction of a flyover at the Gedangan intersection. The method for predicting Vehicle Operating Costs (BOK) is to use PCI method. This study predicts Vehicle Operating Costs (BOK) to determine cost savings. The scenario for predicting BOK is that 80% of the vehicle volume will pass the Fly Over, and 20% still use the existing road. The results showed that the cost savings of Vehicle Operational Costs (BOK) of existing roads compared to the use of flyover in 2019 was IDR 15 Billion. In 2039 the savings are IDR 77 Billion. Another discussion is that if the road is only widened without flyover, then the BOK cost savings in 2019 will be IDR 4 Billion and in 2039 it will be IDR 27 Billion.

The comparison of empirical and finite element methods to evaluate soil foundation capacities for coastal dike

There are over 6,300km of coastlines in the North Maluku province of Indonesia due to tidal waves which originate from the pacific ocean. The waves deposit finely loosed materials and light soil formations on coastlines, therefore causing abrasion. A common example occurred in Toseho, Tidore, and Archipelago districts. Moreover, the local residence has been faced with this challenge for up to thirty years. For this reason, deliberations to construct a dike became significant, although, the soil properties are vulnerable. This reasearch, therefore, compares the empirical calculation to the finite element method (FEM) to ascertain soil foundation capacities. The results showed the safety factor, Fs, for dike height, Hd, of 3.5 m and width bottom, B1, of 12.5m appeared below 2.0 for soil friction s of 10~ 15°, while estimates above 2.0 depicts soil friction s of 20°. Furthermore, the soil stresses beneath the dike were determined empirically at qmax of 5.97 t/m2 and σs of 4.57 t/m2, while FEM evaluated the deformation elastic at 12.5 cm.

Geological hazards that occurred on September 28, 2018 in Sirenja sub-district Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia

The location of the Mw 7.5 earthquake on September 28, 2018, was in the Sirenja District of Donggala Regency or about 75 km to the north of Palu City. We present this paper to complete information on disaster data in the northern part, especially for the Sirenja area as an epicenter location. The scope of this research is to present the types of geological hazards, including the area coverage that influenced them. Starting with studying the geological conditions of the Sirenja area, then identifying and mapping the types of hazards that occur. Five types of geological hazards hit the Sirenja area at that time, namely due to surface rupture faults, earthquake shocks, liquefaction effects, tidal flood inundation, and tsunami. Thus, September 28, 2018, is a time that marks the Sirenja area is prone to several geological hazards, and at any time or without knowing when a natural disaster like this will occur again. Based on the results of this study, the local government and the people of Sirenja District are expected to immediately relocate and make a risk reduction strategy or action plan, where the information from this paper can contribute to this.
