The occurrence of landslides in the hills of Walahir, Kidang Pananjung village, Cililin subdistrict. Bandung in May 2004 needed attention and research so that the causes of the landslide could be identified. This landslide took many lives and property, heaped around 5 hectares of rice fields and residents' villages below and claimed 15 lives. Based on geotechnical investigations, the slip plane is at a depth of 4 meters from the ground surface and the area of the landslide ranges from 30,000 m2 leaving weathered rock beneath. Is the opening of agricultural land and fields followed by the use of chemical fertilizers is one of the causes of landslides? This study aims to determine the effect of a single chemical fertilizer (Urea, Za, SP36) and compound (Green Giant NPK, MKP) on the soil under conditions of optimum water content and water saturation or soaked which are carried out at the Chemical Laboratory of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of Bandung and Mechanics Laboratory Bandung Institute of Technology. Research on the influence of chemical fertilizers which is carried out using percentages of 1%, 2% and 3% with a relatively short ripening time intends to analyze the extent to which chemical fertilizers have an effect. Research is limited to the identification of minerals and chemical elements of original soil, soil physis properties, Atterberg boundaries, soil index properties, soil classification, soil elastic modulus. Hypothesis;The chemical content of fertilizers in the soil causes changes in soil characteristics. The method of taking original soil is by drilling original soil around the area where landslide disaster occurred at the same height as the height of the landslide slope, soil samples taken from depths of 1 meter and 3 meters from the surface of the land or the base layer between soil and rocks based on ASTM D-1452, 1587, 1586. Synthetic zeolite is considered a more effective adsorbent due to its high purity and high removal efficiency. On the other hand, acid mine drainage contains various metal ions, such as zinc, copper, iron, and manganese which are toxic for the ecosystem in a certain concentration. One of the solutions to remove these metal ions is through adsorption. Therefore, the study of adsorption and desorption of zinc and copper onto synthetic zeolite was conducted. The synthetic zeolite was synthesized from coal fly ash and the acid mine drainage was prepared artificially. The adsorption experiment was carried out using a batch system. NaCl, H2SO4, and HNO3 were used as desorption agent. The adsorption studies revealed that the removal efficiency of both Zn2+ and Cu2+ onto the studied adsorbent decrease with the increase of adsorbate concentration. While the adsorption selectivity for multi-system synthetic AMD solution by the studied adsorbent were found to the order of Fe2+> Cu2+> Zn2+> Mn2+.After being reused three times, the synthetic zeolite shows a decrease in for Zn2+ and Cu2+ adsorption efficiency of about 10%. Furthermore, the desorption study shows the ineffective use of NaCl, H2SO4, and HNO3 as desorption agents in this study. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

One of the alternative solution to reduce ash waste in landfills is by utilizing coal fly ash for the removal of metal ion in wastewater, especially acid mine drainage (AMD). In this study, zeolite was synthesized from coal fly ash using a two-step method, hydrothermal and fusion method. The coal fly ash and the zeolite product were characterized physically and were used for the removal of Zn2+ in AMD. The adsorption experiment was carried out using batch method in synthetic AMD solution to study the influential parameters such as adsorbent dosage, contact time, adsorbent isotherms and kinetics. The zeolite synthesized in this study resulting hydroxylsodalite zeolite type, which increases the surface area. It was revealed from the adsorption experiment that the removal efficiency of Zn2+ was 93.47% under the conditions of pH ± 3, initial concentration Zn2+ 100 ppm, optimum contact time 120 minutes, and adsorbent dose 6 g/L. Furthermore, the Langmuir isotherm model and the kinetics model of pseudo-second-order fitted the adsorption data better, with the maximum sorption capacity of 27.32 mg/g. The result of this study indicate hydroxylsodalite synthesized from coal fly ash has great potential as an economical and sustainable material for the removal of metal ion Zn2+ in wastewater. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Acid mine drainage (AMD) contains a high concentration of various heavy metals and have low pH levels. In this study, the comparison between the use of natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite for Cu2+ removal in AMD was conducted. The adsorbent of natural zeolite was prepared through a chemical activating method by adding NaOH. While, synthesized zeolite was made from coal fly ash using a two-step method, fusion, and hydrothermal process. The AMD used in this study was artificially designed with the concentration of Cu2+ 100 ppm and pH ± 3. The adsorption experiment was carried out using a batch method to observe the influential parameters such as adsorbent dosage, contact time, adsorbent isotherms, and kinetics. The result show that the removal efficiency of Cu2+ for natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite was 98,16% and 93,98 % with optimum adsorbent dose 1,5 g/l and 21 g/l, respectively. The optimum contact time for both adsorbents was 120 minutes. The Langmuir isotherm model fitted the adsorption for synthesized zeolite and natural zeolite, with the maximum sorption capacity of 23,8 mg/g and 30,03 mg/g, and the kinetics model of pseudo-second-order and pseudo-first-order. The result of this study that the good adsorption effectivity synthesized zeolite. Furthermore, both natural zeolite and synthesized zeolite have great potential as a sustainable and economical material for heavy metal removal ion Cu2+ in wastewater. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Acid mine drainage (AMD) treatment leaves residue in the form of sludge that contains large amounts of metal, silica, ferric, and alum. This research aims to determine the capabilities that AMD sludge-synthesized coagulant has in reducing COD and TSS concentration in domestic wastewater. The domestic wastewater sample used in this research is an artificial domestic wastewater with a COD concentration of 285 mg/l and a TSS concentration of 245.31 mg/l. After going through Acidification process, AMD sludge coagulant contains Si (43.66%), Fe (30.02%), dan Al (12.35%). A jar test is then performed in order to determine the optimal coagulant dosage. In this process, a coagulant dosage of 40 mg/;60 mg/l;80 mg/l;100 mg/l;140 mg/l;180 mg/l;and 200 mg/l was used with 100 mg/l being the optimal coagulant dosage. The AMD sludge containing the optimal coagulant dosage of 100 mg/l is found to be able to reduce COD concentration by 34.74% and TSS concentration by 95.63% from the tested domestic wastewater sample. This research can illustrate the vast potential that the AMD sludge has as a coagulant. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Acid mine drainage (AMD) sludge is by-product from AMD treatment that formed by iron deposition. This sludge has a potential to be used as an active adsorbent to remove phosphate from domestic wastewater. The adsorbent that was used in this research is AMD sludge from PT Bukit Asam Tbk., Tanjung Enim that majorly composed of Si, Fe and Al compound (determined by the XRD test). Phosphate adsorption was done by AMD sludge and MD sludge that was activated by hydrogen peroxide. Activation process by hydrogen peroxide affected the chemical and physic characteristic of sludge and it showed from the results that the concentration of Si, Fe and Al were shifted by 7.33%, 7.03%, and 1.49%, respectively. Meanwhile for the physical characteristic;specific surface area, pore volume, and pore size were shifted by 19.51 m2/g, 0.0635 cm3/g, and 142.694 nm, respectively. Phosphate removal by AMD sludge has a greater result than activated sludge. Adsorption capacity of AMD sludge was well described by Freundlich isotherm model, which is equal to 6.358 mg P/g. Meanwhile, adsorption capacity of activated sludge was well described by Langmuir isotherm model, which is equal to 0.48 mg P/g. Results in this study indicated that the activation process with hydrogen peroxide affects the ability of phosphate adsorption that was showed by the difference of removal percentage. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

There are many cities on the west coast of the Sumatra, which are at high risk of the Tsunami disaster. Regional Regulations on Regional Spatial Planning for each City/Regency have compiled disaster mitigation by constructing several evacuation roads. This study wants to illustrate: what are the volume of traffic generation and road performance, if there is a Tsunami disaster. The simulation is developed by predicting traffic volume based on parameters, population density, vehicle ownership, land use, and activities in the area around the road. The assessment was carried out on two tsunami evacuation roads in the city of Padang, West Sumatra Province. The results show that the highest traffic volume occurred in the period from 06.30 a.m until 3:00 p.m., during school activities. One of the roads will not be able to accommodate the volume of traffic during a disaster, due to significant traffic congestion. This study shows that: (1) the period of activity and land use are two main parameters, which must be considered in designing tsunami evacuation roads, (2) The degree of saturation ratio and the ratio between the capacity of sections of Tsunami evacuation routes can be proposed as a parameter for assessing the performance of Tsunami evacuation roads in urban areas. © 2020 The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Reinforced concrete slab are widely used in civil buildings, including as building floors, roof floors, bridge floors and dock floors. The load acting on the slab is generally calculated against gravitational loads. This study aims to analyse floor slab in One Residence Batam Center Apartment Construction Project. The moment method is used to predict the magnitude of frame and shrinkage values that refer to 2002 of SNI. Loading is carried out from dead loads and live loads with a two-way reinforcement system. Reinforcement is done using steel with a diameter of 10 mm. So that the minimum area is 313 mm square with a distance of 250 mm and is in the safe category. From the calculation results obtained the concrete elastic modulus obtained by 250 MPa with a reinforcement ratio of 0.0025. Checking the time dependency factor for dead loads is carried out within 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and more than 5 years. Long-term deflection due to frame and shrinkage is still in the safe category. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Damage that occurs on the pavement can be in the form of permanent deformation, cracks due to temperature changes, material damage and material detachment. This research tested the resistance of the Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) mixture using a plastic bag of LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) polymer type against water through immersion in water with a temperature of 60 ℃ for 30 min, 24, 48 and 72 h with a continuous system and variations in LDPE polymer plastic content. by 0, 5, 7 and 9%. The results of the analysis show that the use of LDPE polymer plastic in the AC-WC mixture can increase the resistance to damage to the mixture due to continuous water immersion by reducing the retained strength index value and increasing the remaining strength index value with increasing the duration of immersion. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Jongkong reservoir creates a reservoir of water that is used for the purposes of raw water as fundamental media for improvement of drinking water production especially at dry season for the District of Koba. The advantage of being able to hold water in wet season and releasing it in dry season will be detained if the life storage of the reservoir can be utilized effectively, but sedimentation problem will decrease its volume which can influence the life time of reservoir. Finally the reservoir becomes less effective, so it is very important to study. The method which is used to predict an average erosion rate in the catchment area considers factors of rain erosivity, soil erodibility, ground inclination of slope or slope length, management of crop and land, soil conservation. Calculation was done by using the USLE equation (Universal Soil Loss Equation) which was developed by Wischmeier and Smith (1965, 1978). From this research result, the prediction of surface erosion rate in the basin catchment area in the year 2019 is equal to 53.20 mm/year or equivalent with 62,491.92 m3/year, and the value of Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR) is equal to 32,28 %. The number of material which eroded is equal to 957.59 Ton/Ha/year so it is classified into the medium erosion class category. The dead storage of 5% of the the volume of the reservoir cage will be fully charged in the year 2022 or for 3 The next year and the total volume of the reservoir Ridge will be full of sediment in the year 2062 or 43 years. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
