Travel behaviour of domestic tourists concerning their choices of transportation mode has a significant role in managing traffic in the tourist destination. This study analyses the domestic tourists' choice and their pattern of needs of transportation mode in Bali as the case study. The developed models are based on utility maximisation of underlying preferences for each of the available modes of transport. Domestic tourists are randomly selected and interviewed using the questionnaire to record their daily trips. The study result indicates that income, number of visits and travel companions significantly influence the choice of transportation mode for domestic tourists. Meanwhile, income, number of visits, length of stays, trip purpose and main issues in selecting local transport mode significantly affect the pattern of needs of transportation mode for domestic tourists. For example, two accompanying persons will be three times more than that of seven persons or more to choose motorcycle and bus than a car. Domestic tourists who have visited Bali twice will be three times more than those who visited Bali once to use travel agents and rented vehicles than public and online transport and others. Further studies on short duration trips and sustainable mode of transport are suggested. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The high level of erosion that occur in Musi river basin has improved a tremendous impact on sedimentation in downstream areas and has resulted in many infrastructure of water is disturbed, such as silting of irrigation channels, siltation of rivers which disrupt the flow of transport stream and increasing the risk of flooding, high sedimentation in the port basin, low quality of water and the rising costs of water treatment. This study utilizes techniques terrain models Digital (Digital Elevation Model/DEM) to analysis the spatial distribution of the potential for erosion and sources of sedimentation, as well as the direction of the flow of sediment into channels as well as its relationship with outlet in branching river as the supplies to be sediment to the river flow. The method used in this study using a spatial model analysis with the help of GIS in analysing and presenting the level of erosion and deposition by utilizing modelling slope and kinetic energy of rainfall to estimate the index erosivity and distribution pattern of sediment into the river channel. This research was conducted at the upper Lematang river sub basin with area 412,638 Ha, which are classified into 11 sub-chatments with the highest altitude is 3.159 m above sea level (Dempo Valley) and the lowest is 126 m above sea level (Talang tinggi Valley). Analytical results have been tested by taking a fine sediment sampling in each sub-watershed in the analysis and is taken along the channel network and compare the observed patterns with the results predicted by the model analysis of soil erosion. Overall, erosion by high intensity tends to occur in the relationship between the different vegetation coverage, the barren land and open land used for farms and land used for mining. Approximately 45-65.5% slope bad condition because the vegetation has been open, so it can be seen the amount of erosion in the area is 2.139 ton/ha/year, at the sloping is 1.8239 ton/ha/year. © 2019 Published under licence

Effect of Habit and Car Access on Student Behavior Using Cars for Traveling to Campus

This study reports an investigation of psychological factors influencing this behavior from the perspective of the Theory of Planned Behavior and Norm Activation Model, with the addition of habit and car access. Students from three different university campuses in Surabaya, Indonesia, (n = 312) completed a survey on their car commuting behavior. Results indicated that habit and ascription of responsibility were the strongest factors that influence personal norm, perceived behavioral control and personal norm were the strongest factors that influence behavioral intention, and habit was the strongest factors that influence actual behavior, while car access only significantly influence habit, rather than both perceived behavioral control and actual behavior. Habit, awareness of consequences, and ascription of responsibility explain 54% variance of personal norm. Attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and personal norm explain 50% variance of the behavioral intention. In turn, behavioral intention, habit, and car access explains 55% of the variance of the actual car use. Implications of these findings are that in order to alter the use of car, university should implement both structural and psychological interventions. Effective interventions should be designed to raise students’ awareness of consequences and sense of responsibility of negative aspects of car use.

The Effect of Students’ Car Access and Car use Habits on Student Behavior to Reduce using Cars for Traveling to Campus

This study reports an investigation of psychological factors influencing student behavior to reduce using cars for traveling to campus from the perspective of the Norm Activation Model, with the addition of students’ car access, and car use habits for traveling to campus. Students from three different university campuses completed a survey on their car commuting behavior. Results indicated that a car use habit, awareness of consequences, and ascription of responsibility explain 63% variance of personal norm. Personal norms explain 47% variance of the behavioral intention. In turn, behavioral intention, car use habit, and car access explains 54% of the variance of actual car use. A car use habit and ascription of responsibility were the strongest factors that influence personal norms, and car use habit was the strongest factors that influence actual car use behavior, while car access significantly influence car use habit and actual car use behavior. Implications of these findings are that in order to alter the use of car, universities should implement both structural and psychological intervention. To be effective interventions should be design to removing opportunities for enactment of car use habit, also to enhance the sense of responsibility towards the negative impact of car use.

Achieving open defecation free (ODF) in Indonesia by 2019 is closely monitored by the Government of Indonesia (GoI) as it is targeted in the RPJMN (national mid-year term). This achievement is also targeted at Surabaya City as the second largest city in Indonesia. There are still 15.527 houses in Surabaya which do not have proper sanitation system or still practicing open defecation. This study is aimed to assess how ODF would be achieved in Surabaya by 2019;including what type of toilets are to be used. A household survey was conducted to locate and assess the condition of those houses. Survey results show that 12.772 houses still practice defecation in the open area. These houses comprise of legal and illegal houses which are 5.586 and 7.186, respectively. Priority is given to legal houses as they are manageable to be given toilet under Surabaya's regulation procedure. Based on the available technologies to construct sanitation system then there will be 2.833 individual septic tank, 419 communal septic tanks, 15 communal toilet with bathing and washing (MCK), 12 communal wastewater treatment, and 1 centralized system in Keputih Sub-district of Surabaya to be constructed to set free these legal houses from open defecation practices. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The covid-19 pandemic case has changed the structure of life in all aspects throughout the world. The field of man-made environment or architecture is no exception. The interior arrangement of a building, as part of the man-made environment, is also affected. The interior design of a building today seems to be obliged to participate in following the standards of new health-protocols in the new normal *** about the interior of the building that has already been utilized? Of course it requires further study to find out whether the interior of a building can be said to be healthy or not. This study aims to examine the interior design of the lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES in terms of health that is emphasized from the behavior of its users by referring to the situation of the covid-19 pandemic and its future prospects. The research method used is by field observations to search visual data, observing user behavior and textual data. Those who are categorized as users of the lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES are lecturers from the Department of Architecture, students, administrators and guests. The results of this study indicate that based on the pattern of user behavior and associated with the standard requirements of space, area, volume of space, material and infrastructure conditions, interior design of lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES, is included in healthy category, although there are several minor corrections that can be included as suggestions for improvement in order to adjust to the new normal era during the covid-19 pandemic period and thereafter. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The hilly and mountainous topography with high annual rainfall triggered a flash flood in the upper Lematang sub-watershed. The impact caused not only damaged infrastructure, agriculture land, and even fatalities. This research aimed to conduct flash flood hazard zoning based on morphometric parameters using the GIS technique. By extracting the DEM data, it is generated to a slope map, flow direction, flow accumulation, stream order, and watershed boundary. The data were then evaluated to obtain the morphometric parameters. Parameters analyzed using the PCA approach to get the correlation between parameters related to flash flood hazards. Of the 12 parameters, the KMO value is 0.66, and a significant level is 0.001 1, and the cumulative percentage of the two factors was able to explain data variations of 87.49%. Finally, using 12 parameters, the upper Lematang sub-watershed area had 48.79% very-high hazard zones of a flash flood, 16.48% high zones, 20.28% moderate zones, and 0.97% low zones, and 13.48% very-low zones. The results of this study can be used in mitigation activities as well as for integrated watershed management. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The Cengklik Reservoir is operated for irrigation of rice fields in 3 sub-districts in Boyolali Regency, namely Sambi, Ngemplak, and Nogosari. At the present time, the volume of the Cengklik Reservoir has decreased and resulted in dryness during the dry season. One of the main causes is due to the high sedimentation rate. This research was conducted to evaluate changes in land use that resulted in sedimentation in the Cengklik Reservoir. Erosion prediction in this study uses USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) analysis. The amount of sediment obtained uses the standard erosion data from USLE calculations, namely by multiplying the amount of erosion by the SDR and the area of River Basin. The potential for erosion and sedimentation used land use data for 10 years, from 2009 to 2019. Based on the research, the amount of erosion and sedimentation in the Cengklik Reservoir was fluctuated with the highest amount occurring in 2016, with erosion of 9,292 tones/ha/year and sedimentation of 4304,154 tons/year. In general, erosion and sedimentation have increased from 2009 to 2019. The classification of erosion in the Cengklik Reservoir according to this study was categorized as light erosion. The trap efficiency used in this study was calculated using formulae based on the research of Heinemann (1981) using the Brune method for small reservoirs with an area of less than 0.5 km2. In general, based on this study, the Trap Efficiency in Cengklik Reservoir was 95.254%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The influence of carbon dioxide (CO2) curing on the compressive strength of oil shale ash (OSA) concrete as partial cement replacement was investigated. 15 cm cubes with a 30% replacement percentage were tested after seven days of conventional curing and carbonation curing at 4 bar CO2 pressure. Research results demonstrate that CO2 curing influences the compressive strength of concrete significantly. There is a linear relationship between CO2 pressure and the duration of curing, as well as the compressive strength of OSA-based concrete. A sample of ordinary Portland cement was used as the control sample. The replacement of 30% cement by OSA increased the 7-day compressive strength from 48.5 to 55.5 MPa for plain cement samples and from 36.5 to 42.3 MPa for ash-based samples. From a technical standpoint, OSA-based concrete carbonation curing is still too immature for widespread application. Nonetheless, it is continuously developing in response to greenhouse gas reduction and paving the path for a more sustainable construction materials business. © 2024, Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd.

Traffic in most developing nations is considered mixed or heterogeneous. Motorcycle and other vehicle's behavior at signalized intersections would not probably have a similar influence on intersection capacity and time of the traffic signals. In theory, the saturation flow rate is a basic parameter to estimate the intersection capacity and time of the traffic signals. This study, therefore, aims to analyze the influence of motorcycle behavior on the saturation flow rate at signalized intersections in Denpasar, Bali. Traffic flow data are observed at four signalized intersection approaches that have similar width and traffic characteristics. Two approaches have exclusive stopping space for motorcycles (ESSM) while the other two do not. The study results show that more than 50% of motorcycles tend to be distributed beside flow at signalized intersections with ESSM on either light or dense traffic flows. In contrast, at the signalized intersections without ESSM, motorcycles are found to be distributed inside flow during low traffic conditions, while distributed beside flow during dense traffic flow. Besides, the saturation flow rates of motorcycle inside flow are less than that of beside flow at signalized intersections both with and without ESSM. A new method to estimate saturation flow is proposed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
