The title of this study is «Compression Strength Testing Model on Clay Soil Stabilization Using Variations of Cement Composition». The focus of this test is the addition of different compositions of cement and clay. Composition of this test is 100% soil + 0% cement, 70% soil + 30% cement, 50% soil + 50% cement and 30% soil + 70% cement. The next stage of drying is done for 0 days, 5 days, 10 days, 15 days and 20 days. The test is performed by unconfined compression test machine for each sample dried within the time specified above. The cement used is Portland composite cement type (Portlant Cement Composite / PCC). The conclusion is obtained from the results of tests that have been done that the soil composition of 100% + 0% cement land indicates if the longer drained the value of the compressive strength will decrease. However, in the other composition 70% of soil + 30% cement, 50% soil + 50% cement and 30% soil + 70% cement show that the longer drying is done for each composition the relationship between strain and stress shows an increase along with the duration of drying done. However, if analyzed for the largest compressive strength value of this test was found in the 50% + 50% cement sample showing the largest compressive strength (qu) compared with the other samples. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Identification of coffee beans types is a process carried out in determining the category of civet and robusta coffee. The selection of civet coffee manually by the community in determining the variety of coffee beans. Manual selection makes the process slow. There is no certainty whether the selected coffee stated original civet coffee or a mixture with Robusta coffee. It needs to be built a system in identifying the types of coffee beans. In this study, the classification technology used for the selection process of Civet and Robusta coffee beans. This research uses first-order feature extraction with the Support-Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm, which aims to recognize civet and robusta coffee beans' patterns using texture analysis on grayscale images and feature extraction. In the study, the authors used the Rapid Application Development approach to build the selection system. The data used in this study were 120 images, consisting of 110 training data and 10 test data. The accuracy in identifying the types of coffee beans by using this method is 87.27%.

Exploring the effect of passenger presence on young driver drowsiness in a naturalistic study

Traffic accidents due to sleepy drivers were still major problem in road transportation. Interaction with passenger was believe as one of the prospective drowsiness countermeasures. Therefore, this research was conducted in order to exploring the effects of the passenger presence on young driver drowsiness. Subjective measurement was carried out using Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS), whilst objective assessment was conducted by Observer Rating of Drowsiness (ORD). Naturalistic data was collected from ten participants, who were undergraduate male students aged 15-24, located in Semarang, Indonesia. Each participant data was recorded for 30 minutes driving alone and 30 minutes with young passenger in a counterbalance order. Both delta KSS and overall ORD along driving period indicated that the young driver drowsiness levels were lower when driving with passenger than driving alone. Results can be utilized in developing rules and policies for professional drivers work procedure.

The very high strength of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) is possible to produce due to the availability of a pozzolanic material in the mixture and application of the packing density method to obtain the optimum density of the mixture proportions. Rice husk ash is a natural source of high silica (SiO2) with readiness in huge volumes. In this study, the RPC mixtures were produced from a fixed content of 25% silica fume of the cement weight combined with synthesized rice husk ash (SRHA) of 10%, 20%, and 30% by cement weight. Mix proportions were obtained by using the Modified Andreassen Packing Model method. This study aims to determine the width of slump flow and compressive strength under normal and steam curing of RPC with low cement content (650 kg/m3). The results demonstrated that the intermix of silica fume with synthesized rice husk ash up to 30% provides an advance on the slump flow width and compressive strength of RPC containing local quartzite powder under normal and steam curing.

The increasing demand for sustainable materials has highlighted nanocellulose as a promising candidate due to its exceptional mechanical strength, thermal stability, and superior barrier properties. These attributes enable its application in diverse fields, including packaging, biomedical devices, and nanocomposites. This study investigates the valorization of edamame bean husks, a byproduct of the globally consumed legume snack, as a sustainable feedstock for nanocellulose production. Cellulose was extracted from the husks via delignification and bleaching, followed by a green and facile acid hydrolysis method employing organic acids (maleic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and formic acid) to produce nanocellulose. The resulting nanocellulose exhibited a fibrillar morphology with particle sizes ranging from 7.59 to 17.51 nm, depending on the acid used. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a crystallinity index ranging from 63.49 % to 67.24 %. Notably, acid hydrolysis significantly enhanced the thermal stability of the nanocellulose compared to both the raw husk and isolated cellulose. These findings demonstrate the potential of edamame agricultural waste as a valuable resource for sustainable and eco-friendly nanocellulose production, contributing to a circular bioeconomy. © 2025 The Authors

Electrical energy is one of the important energy needs in human life. To meet the electricity needs in the North Maluku area, it was planned to build a diesel power plant (PLTD) in the coastal area of Halmahera. In the activity of the power plant, it produces heat wastewater from the rest of the radiator cooling process. This study, conducted a numerical simulation to determine the thermal dispersion pattern of waste heat from PLTD cooling water in Halmahera waters. Modeling the dispersion of heat waste temperature of PLTD cooling water is carried out using the Ansys CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method in 3D. The input data are in the form of heat water discharge of 4,000 tons/hour, with heat wastewater temperature 37.5 °C. Ambient seawater temperature is 30.5 °C and seawater density is 1022 kg/m3. Hydrodynamic modeling of oceanic currents is modeled with two variations, namely constant current of 0.4 m/s and UDF current. UDF currents have different current values for each depth with a current velocity of 0.005 m/s up to 0.4 m/s. The simulated results of a constant current show the spread of heat to the environment occurs as far as 210 m to the north of the discharge outlet. The highest temperature value is 37.14°C, the lowest is 30.8°C. For these UDF current models, the heat spread is 210 m to the north of the discharge outlet with the highest temperature value is 37.13°C the lowest is 30.61°C.

Robotic exosuit to improve walking and gait rehabilitation for stroke survivors: A review

Stroke survivors are typically having locomotion impairments that cause the gait asymmetry and mobility deterioration. The major contributors to this condition are impaired paretic leg and muscle weakness. Researchers put their attention and interest on the rapid development of robotic exosuit and its technology. Such as the actuator becomes more lightweight, using multi-sensors for human and robot interface and controller, a neural or adaptive oscillator for human-machine synchronization and cognitive function in the control of gait and fall prevention. This review paper aims to provide and explain the development of robotic exosuit assistive strategies and technologies that comprise of actuator, sensor as a controller, muscle activity, human-machine interface, and control strategy. The review will focused on the robotic exosuit with purpose to improve walking and gait rehabilitation without the augmentation apparatus for heavy tasks.

Background: e-Waste is a rapidly growing waste stream worldwide, and Bangladesh is a hub of e-waste handling. Informal e-waste recycling operations involve crude methods for dismantling, repairing, sorting, and recycling electronic goods with bare hands and without personal health protections. Direct inhalation or dermal exposure to toxicants during informal recycling is common. Evidence suggests that e-waste-derived toxicants pollute the terrestrial ecosystem and have been linked with adverse health effects. However, e-waste recycling-related occupational health hazards have not been adequately explored in the context of Bangladesh. Objective: Our study aims to expand the current understanding of exposure to e-waste. This study will measure the metal concentrations in biological and environmental samples and evaluate the relationship between heavy metals and the biochemical systems of the e-waste workers. Methods: The study uses a cross-sectional study design consisting of an exposed site and a nonexposed control site. The trained team collected information on individual exposures, detailed work and medical history, and biological samples (blood, urine, and hair) from each subject. This study will measure heavy metal levels (lead, cadmium, and mercury) and biochemical parameters (hematological, hormonal, renal, and others) from the biological samples with reported physical function as outcomes of interest. In addition, we also collected soil and dust samples from both exposed and nonexposed control sites to measure the health risk. All the environmental samples will be analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer to determine metal concentrations. We will also conduct a qualitative investigation for a deeper understanding of the e-waste management system in Bangladesh. The purpose of this research was to produce an interactive CD media on the processing of continental pastry to improve the quality of learning in continental and culinary courses. The quality of media feasibility is based on the assessment of media experts who consider the criteria 'good,' with the percentage criteria earned at 77.5%. The evaluation of media experts who review the rules 'excellent' has a value of 90%. This media can be considered 'feasible' as it can be used for learning in terms of media and technical aspects.

Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) poses significant environmental challenges to water resource management. This review explores the potential of waste materials in developing nanocomposites for AMD treatment. The study highlights the benefits of using agricultural residues, industrial byproducts, and municipal solid waste as components in nanocomposites. These waste-based nanocomposites offer cost-effectiveness, resource conservation, and transformation of waste into valuable assets. The mechanisms of pollutant removal, recent trends, and advancements in nanocomposites for AMD treatment are discussed. Unlike previous studies, this work provides a pioneering comprehensive assessment of waste-derived nanocomposites, systematically synthesizing state-of-the-art advancements while critically evaluating their practical application and ecological impact. Recommendations for optimizing nanocomposites include material selection, property tailoring, and field implementation. Future research directions are proposed, such as advanced characterization techniques, novel waste material exploration, and ecological impact evaluation. Harnessing waste material potential can promote sustainable water and waste management, restoring AMD-affected environments and protecting water resources.
