The significance of flow rate sensors and horizontal water pipes in various applications highlights their crucial role in enhancing fluid dynamics monitoring and management. Digital technologies play a critical role in enhancing the safety operations, quality, and time management of projects. The building industry has been slower than other sectors to implement digital technologies. On the other hand, life cycle thinking, and sustainable awareness have become increasingly significant concepts. This literature-based research investigates the diffusion of digital technologies in the building sector in the context of their relationship with life cycle assessment (LCA) and other environmental assessment methods. The study examines an extensive database of 800 scientific documents. The findings reveal that Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D printing are the most diffused technologies used in conjunction with supporting the environmental assessment or evaluating the impact of the technologies in sustainability-related terms. Despite their expectedly large utilization in the building sector, the application and evaluation of some digital technologies are rarely reported. The study reveals that the end-of-life stage of buildings is associated with the smallest amount of evaluation examples in the examined papers. The integration of the life cycle thinking into approaches foreseeing the use of these technologies can provide significant advantages in terms of separation, recycling and disposal roots for the construction and demolition waste. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

One of the potential implementations of mobile robots in mitigating the risk of communicable diseases is for delivering items and handling materials with no-human contact. In that scenario, mobile robots require the capability of performing simultaneous multi-object detection and distance estimation for dynamic exploration in a real-world environment. Some existing research papers have contributed to the development of object detection or distance estimation, separately. However, there is still a lack of studies on simultaneous multi-object detection and distance estimation for robot navigation, especially in terms of performance analysis of the integrated techniques. One of the most challenging issues of integrating multi-object detection and distance estimation is the validation and evaluation of the type of objects with their relevant estimated distance to the robot. For that reason, this research aims to analyze the mobile robot's sensing performance in integrated simultaneous multi-object detection and distance estimation during navigation scenarios. A depth camera of Intel RealSense D455 and a rotating LIDAR of Slamtec RPLidar A1M8 are utilized in the experiments. The result of experiments shows that the object detection algorithm using Mobilenet SSD V2 can perform an accuracy of 74%, with precision, recall, and F1-Score consecutively achieving 74,54%, 74,00%, and 74,22%. The multi-object distance estimator also performs satisfactory results with a low measurement average error of 10.3 cm for indoor experiments. The integrated multiobject detector and distance estimator system can work in a real-time mode of 30 FPS, thence significantly improving the navigation performance of the mobile robot.

Biomass gasification converts into syngas through the gasification process is promising for renewable energy utilization. Although gasification is a sustainable and environmentally-friendly technology for value-added utilization of biomass, yield percentage is the major problem during biomass gasification. An optimized gasifier and highly active catalyst were proved to be effective for biomass production. Furthermore, the decomposition pathway was also important to advance the gasification reactors and catalyst design. This paper summarized the fundamentals, such as gasifier types, zeolite catalysts, and reaction and deactivation mechanisms. This review also sheds light on other excellent catalysts, effective gasifier, and catalyst reaction mechanisms are also discussed in detail. At last, the paper ends with a conclusion and a prospective discussion of the lab-scale research. At the contact time of 240 minutes, with a column height of 30 cm, at a temperature of 450 oC, the concentration of syngas promise well. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The synthesis of graphitic carbon nanostructures from cellulose extraction of durian peel waste has been successfully carried out in this study. This study aim to produce the graphitic carbon nanostructures to give innovative solutions to the renewable energy storage challenge. Durian peel cellulose was synthesized into graphitic carbon nanostructures through catalytic graphitization method. 4.8 grams of durian peel cellulose was hydrocharred at 200°C for 4 hours, then impregnated using Fe(NO3).9H2O and ethanol for 90 minutes. The sample was then precipitated for 12 hours and dried at 60°C. The sample was pyrolysed at 900°C for 3 hours. Characterization was carried out using TEM and XRD. Characterization TEM showed the morphological characteristics of graphitic carbon nanostructures in the form of coils in uneven amounts with the avarage diameter size is 24.9134 nm. In addition, the XRD characterization results also strengthen the characteristic phase of graphitic carbon nanostructures at 2θ 26.5° and 44.7°, although nanoparticles from Fe catalysis are visible in the sample due to the absence of reflux. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

ChatGPT has generated significant interest and discussion within the academic community since its initial introduction. This study aims to investigate the students’ intentions to use ChatGPT for educational purposes in higher education. A proposed conceptual model based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model-2 (UTAUT2) was employed in this current study. A total of 575 data obtained from a questionnaire survey of higher education students were analyzed using partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results of the hypothesis testing revealed that both cognitive attitude and emotional attitude have a significant influence on the intention to use ChatGPT. The cognitive attitude was influenced by performance expectancy and effort expectancy. Affective attitudes were shaped by factors such as novelty value, performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, and effort expectancy.

The loading and unloading activities of container ships at the Tanjung Perak Port is imperative, as they can be carried out quickly and efficiently. These ships tend to have a high frequency of visits and possess the largest gross tonnage among ships used for the transportation of goods. The occurrence of an accident involving a container ship can have a detrimental effect on the seamless delivery of goods via sea transportation. Furthermore, the crew be adequately prepared in order to mitigate the risk. As evidenced by research on safety behaviour have not taken preparedness as a factor into consideration when addressing emergencies. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of safety knowledge, motivation, and awareness on safety behaviour in dealing with emergencies on container ships in accordance with relevant regulations. A total of 180 ship crew members served as respondents and it analysed using SEM-PLS. The results showed that preparedness, including safety procedures, emergency training, and crew security culture is an important aspect in dealing with emergencies. Furthermore, this study obtained an R square value of 0.525 in the structural model, indicating that the independent variables have an influence on behaviour, and it was classified in the good category. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

This research is motivated by the development of education in the 21st-century, which demands students to master the 4C skills (creative thinking, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication), particularly in the field of physics. The nature of physics learning requires active and interactive teaching methods that can be implemented through project-based activities for students. One effective instructional media is the student worksheet designed based on STEM-PjBL (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics project-based learning) principles. This research aims to assess the suitability of STEM-PjBL student worksheets as a learning media, which can serve as a recommendation to assist teachers in teaching renewable energy topics. This study uses the ADDIE model to adopt the Research and Development (R&D) method. This research results in a STEM-PjBL student worksheet as a physics learning media to understand renewable energy topics. During COVID-19 pandemic several countries have implemented quarantines in response to the virus’ spread, which was considered an emergency. Thailand was under a state of emergency from January to December 2020, which has had an impact on the state of environment. Based on real-time data from the Pollution Control Department, the impact of COVID-19 lockdown on PM2.5 pollution in Thailand was examined. Inverse Distance Weighted interpolation was used to generate a more accurate visual representation of the PM2.5 pollution through a spatial distribution of atmospheric pollutants across the provinces of Thailand. PM2.5 levels in all considered areas reduced considerably between 2017 and 2020, with the most significant decrease occurring during the lockdown period of April-July in 2020. As the pre-COVID-19 period occurred during late winter in Thailand, the monthly average PM2.5 concentrations in all selected provinces were gradually increased from December 2019 to March 2020. During the lockdown period, the concentration of PM2.5 was reduced in Pathum Thani (48.9%), Samut Sakhon (35.6%) Samut Prakarn (33.6%), and Bangkok (31.7%) The spatial–temporal distribution of the PM2.5 levels in Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakarn provinces were analyzed for October 2020, during the new normal period. The results showed a significant decrease in concentration of up to 31% compared to previous years where industrial operations were situated. This study showed that the government enforced lockdown during COVID-19 pandemic was beneficial in understanding the impact of reduced human activities on anthropogenic air pollutants’ concentrations. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The challenge of distributing climacteric fruit is quality assurance due to the long-distance and perishability nature of the fruit. While monitoring transportation conditions is common, little research has developed a prediction model of fruit quality affected by transportation conditions. The presented study designs a quality monitoring system for mango's long-distance supply chain by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning. The system modeling utilizes Business Process Model and Notation and a Use Case Diagram based on requirement analysis. The design of IoT architecture addresses the needs of the supply chain actors to monitor the transportation process and predict the final quality of mango upon arrival. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) predicts mango grade classification upon arrival. The dataset consists of initial (harvest) maturity level and transportation conditions as predictor variables and mango final grade as the target variable. The accuracy of the prediction model reaches more than 95%. The verification and validation of the system with traceability technique on the user's requirements confirm the fulfillment of each requirement's input, tasks, and output. This conceptual design presents IoT and machine learning as promising solutions to quality assurance problems in the global fresh produce supply chain. © 2022 IEEE.
