Despite being an efficient bioremediation agent, aquatic biofilm's usefulness as a biomonitor has not been explored extensively. This study disclosed the potential of epilithic biofilm as biomonitor by comparing its metagenomics with water quality parameters and microplastic count in Brantas River. Metagenomics showed the epilithic biofilm was dominated by Exiguobacterium, which recognizes and degrades microplastics, along with Rhodobacterium and Rhizobiales. For the first time, biofilm microbes and their respective roles were discovered to correspond to the total microplastic counts in comparison with BOD as the only transgressing physicochemical parameter. Thus, epilithic biofilm is a potential biomonitor for riverine microplastic contaminations. © 2024 The Author(s)

Whiteboard animation videos are engaging learning media for Generation Z. This study aimed to develop and assess the feasibility of a whiteboard animation video for vitamin in the Nutrition Science subject for class X culinary vocational school. This study was research and development using a 4D approach (define, design, develop, disseminate). The define stage analyzed the curriculum, material, student character, learning media, and school facilities. The design stage included the writing and assessing the material, the writing and assessing of storyboards, and production team selection. The develop stage was making a video and assessing the feasibility. Animation images were created using Paint Tool Sai. Image conversion from JPEG to SVG was performed with Inkscape. The dubber's voice was recorded with Universal Audio using the Apollo Twin audio interface and Avantone CV12 microphone. The audio was edited in Pro Tools 2020.9. To produce a whiteboard animation video, animation images, captions, dubber's voice, and back sound were combined with VideoScribe. Videos used mpg format. In order to maintain video duration below 10 minutes, the video was divided into two parts. The assessment of video feasibility was carried out by one media expert and two content experts. The assessment of feasibility at the disseminate stage was carried out to 30 users. Based on the feasibility assessment, this video was very suitable to be applied as a learning medium. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In Bali, the high volume of tourists significantly contributes to marine debris, particularly plastics, which threatens the ecological health of beaches and marine life, impacting both tourism and local livelihoods. Effective management is crucial to preserve Bali's natural beauty and sustainability. This study explores the factors influencing the willingness to participate (WTP) in marine debris management among urban communities in the Bali metropolitan area, Indonesia. Utilizing a binary logistic regression model, we examine the impact of key elements for effective marine debris management, risk awareness, learning performance, and higher monthly income and geographic differences between inland and coastal communities. The findings reveal that effective management practices significantly enhance community participation, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, and well-organized efforts. Educational initiatives also play a crucial role, with performance in risk awareness and learning showing a marginally significant positive effect on WTP. Conversely, higher income levels negatively influence participation, suggesting a preference for institutional funding over personal contributions. Geographic differences indicate that coastal communities are more inclined to participate than inland communities. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers and practitioners in developing strategies to mobilize volunteers, enhance urban resilience, and promote social well-being. By implementing effective management practices, comprehensive educational programs, tailored engagement strategies, and fostering partnerships, urban communities in Bali can become more resilient and actively address environmental challenges. © 2024 The Authors

The student of vocational high school nowadays are classified as generation Z. They are common to use information and communication technology. They prefer audio-visual learning media rather than podcast recording or text media. This study aimed to develop a video on making dry banana for the Agriculture Product Processing course and assessing the video's feasibility. This study was a research & development (R&D) study using the 4D (define, design, develop, and disseminate) approach. Analysis of content, curriculum, and student needs was carried out in the define stage. The scriptwriting and production team selection was conducted in the design stage. Video recording, editing, and feasibility test from experts were performed in the development stage. The video was evaluated by two content experts and one media expert. In the disseminate stage, thirty students as prospective consumers evaluated the video feasibility. The data were analyzed descriptively. The video was in the mp4 format and had a duration of 13 minuter and 13 seconds. The video has been provided with high-definition images, captions, pictures, 2D animations, transitions, and effects. The experts and the students rated this video to be very feasible to be used as instructional media. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Production losses of agricultural commodities on agricultural land due to product defects depend on the level of pest and disease attacks. Defects cause the product not to be harvested or rejected by the market. Data from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021 shows the percentage of defective products for this commodity is 5%. This study aims to detect defects in agricultural products using image processing and artificial neural networks. We used the screening threshold method with potato research samples from Dieng, Indonesia. The study results for spot defects showed that from 100 training data, there were five incorrect identification data, so the accuracy of the training process was 95%. At the same time, the hole defect accuracy is better, which is 97%. It shows that defects in agricultural commodities can be detected using this method. For further research, the development of agricultural product sorting can combine sorting techniques with this method. © 2022 IEEE.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in improving the economy of small communities and the stability of the Indonesian economy. However, they still face various problems such as capital, raw materials, distribution, licensing, and others. This study developed a special treatment recommendation system to increase the independence of MSMEs by adopting a ranking-based method to produce recommendations related to problem-solving steps from MSMEs. The ranking method used Normalized Rating Frequency (NRF). This method performed an aggregation process of the ratings given by MSMEs in looking at the priority level of problem-solving based on previous experience. The result of the experiment showed that an average NDCG value was 0.7916. This explained that the quality of the ranking was good so that it was feasible to be recommended in solving problems in the form of special treatment to acquire to the independence of MSMEs. © 2021 IEEE

The Manggarai Water Gate is a measurement point strategically located to measure Jakarta's flooding magnitude that keeps increasing from year to year. The 2015s gate capacity improvement underscores this importance. This paper applies a machine learning model that utilizes an atmospheric approach to predict the Manggarai water level as output. In the process, optimization is done by comparing three spatial input sizes and performing a sensitivity analysis of the input variables. Using a simple recurrent sequence, the model can predict the water level with a coefficient of determination (R2) reaching 0.7 using 18-hour recurrent data. This study can be used as the basis for further development that can take satellite data lead time advantage that is crucial for the early warning system. © 2021 IEEE.

Natural disasters such as wildfires are continuous hazards that threaten forests all around the world. Wildfires cause massive environmental and economic devastation and they are considered a major risk in several parts of the world. Between 1990 and 2020 the world has lost 178 million hectares of its forest, and because of the current climate change there are expectations for wildfires to increase in frequency, extent, and severity. Wildfires have become an increasingly serious concern on a global scale, causing environmental and economic damage. The complexity of the wildfires can make a negative impact on the decision-making process, while the decision-makers are under the pressure of conditions that are limited in time, dynamic, uncertain, and contradictory. A decision support system (DSS) is an interactive computer-based information system developed to assist decision-makers. It integrates the theory of decision-making with interactive computer systems. GIS-based DSSs have been used to increase the efficiency of fire control processes such as planning, managing, and decision-making. Some countries have their own wildfire systems. In Turkey, the forests represent about 29% of the total area, the average burned area is more than 10 thousand hectares per year while the average of wildfire incidents is about 2200 incidents annually. Several tools and systems have been developed recently, they have varied between early warning systems and decision support systems or even only fire monitoring and detection tools and systems. However, most of these tools and systems were developed to do one specific task. There is an urgent need to develop an integrated GIS-based DSS system to meet the national requirements of wildfire fighting. In this study, the national capabilities and requirements of Turkey for better wildfire fighting and prevention are reviewed. Additionally, the available tools and systems for Turkey are reviewed and compared with the other national systems. ©

We study the carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)activity and selectivity of Fe single-atom catalyst(Fe-SAC)and Fe dual-atom catalyst(Fe-DAC)active sites at the interior of graphene and the edges of graphitic nanopore by using a combination of DFT calculations and microkinetic *** trend of limiting potentials for CO_(2)RR to produce CO can be described by using either the adsorption energy of COOH,CO,or their ***_(2)RR process with reasonable reaction rates can be achieved only on the active site configurations with weak tendencies toward CO *** efficiency of CO_(2)RR on a catalyst depends on its ability to suppress the parasitic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),which is directly related to the behavior of H adsorption on the catalyst’s active *** find that the edges of the graphitic nanopore can act as potential adsorption sites for an H atom,and in some cases,the edge site can bind the H atom much stronger than the main Fe *** linear scaling between CO and H adsorptions is broken if this condition is *** condition also allows some edge active site configurations to have their CO_(2)RR limiting potential lower than the HER process favoring CO production over H2 production.

Turkey has been experiencing a rapid urbanization process since the 1950s. In the 1950s, 75% of the population lived in the city and district centers and this rate has reached 92%. Regional disparities in provided public services in urban and rural areas across the country promoted domestic migration from agricultural to industrial cities with better living conditions. As a result of the increase in received migration, the urban population exploded and the immigrant population had problems in adaptation to the urban lifestyle due to the precipitous differences in the socio-economic structure of the urban and rural. The exclusion of the immigrant population by the urbanites in many ways, in other words, their inability to integrate with the urban population caused them to seek solidarity among themselves and they established organizations. This organization, which is still active today, is "fellow countrymen associations", which are nongovernmental organizations. In this study, the distribution of citizen associations operating in the province of Bursa by districts and the tendency of those from which provinces to establish associations in which districts and their relation with the socio-economic development of the districts were revealed. For this purpose, the development of Fellow Countrymen Associations as a civil society organization was firstly examined in Turkey. Secondly, the distribution of nongovernmental organizations in Bursa province according to their fields of activity in the districts was determined and an answer was introduced for exploring the diversity of their activity fields based on the socio-economic development indicators. Finally, the distribution of the fellow countrymen associations has been examined in Bursa specifically and the relations with the development of the districts are tried to be revealed by the use of geo-information technologies.
