Gas permeability and intrinsic permeability are the major parameters to promote aeration for packed waste. The objectives of this research are to identify physical parameters of gas transfer from a various type of packed wastes and examine ventilation design theory for landfill to enhance waste stabilization. Method to determine value of gas permeability and intrinsic permeability for packed waste is by flushing the packed column containing various type and physical characteristics of wastes with an air pump. Permeability was calculated by measuring pressure gradient on sampling points of the column using inclined manometer at distance 10 cm, 23 cm, 46 cm, 69 cm, 92 cm and 115 cm from origin. Gas permeability is specifically relied on physical parameters of wastes as follows, density, moisture content, particle size and gas velocity on the surface of compacted waste layer. Compost has finer pore structure and smaller pore size than leaves as well as mixed organic (65%) and inorganic wastes (35%). The experiment found the intrinsic permeability of leaves waste are in the order of 10-11 to 10-8 m2, 10-11 to 10-9 m2 for compost and 10-9 m2 for mixed organic (65%) and inorganic wastes (35%).

Even if due diligence is carried out during the contract preparation stage, it becomes extremely difficult to anticipate for and include every single contingency that may arise from contract misinterpretation resulted from implicit terms. As such, to mitigate being involved in numerous disputes and arbitration cases due to contractual "gaps", all parties bounded by a binding agreement are recommended to be aware of their Implied Obligations and ensure that their implicit duties are accommodated for, as appropriate, within the construction contract. In this study, a survey measuring the gap between perceptions of 13 pre-identified Implied Obligations and actual experiences has been created and collected from 30 people out of 100 surveys sent out that had demonstrated even though most of the Implied Terms pre-identified are generally agreed on as Obligations by most parties involved in a contract, they are;however, rarely experienced most of the time. This indicates the potential of a high number of claim cases arising due to these contractual gaps.

General as well as the municipal solid waste (MSW) management in Thailand is reviewed in this paper. Topics include the MSW generation, sources, composition and trends. The review, then, moves to sustainable solutions for MSW management and sustainable alternative approaches with an emphasis on an integrated MSW management. Information of waste in Thailand is also given at the beginning of this paper for better understanding of later contents. It is clear that no one single method of MSW disposal can deal with all materials in an environmentally sustainable way. As such, a suitable approach in MSW management should be an integrated approach that could deliver both environmental and economic sustainability. With increasing environmental concerns, the integrated MSW management system has a potential to maximize the useable waste materials as well as produce energy as a by-product. In Thailand, the compositions of waste (86%) are mainly organic waste, paper, plastic, glass and metal. As a result, the waste in Thailand is suitable for an integrated MSW management. Currently, the Thai national waste management policy starts to encourage the local administrations to gather into clusters, to establish central MSW disposal facilities with suitable technologies and reducing the disposal cost based on the amount of MSW generated.

The use of creeper in building walls is an important tool for architecture and engineering professionals, in the search of thermal comfort and energy efficiency. Creepers used as facade elements minimize the heat gain indoors, provide a better thermal condition and refinement performance of the construction. If green walls are thought of since the preliminary design stages - elaboration of necessity program, through even the stage of postoccupation evaluation, they can improve the performance of the built environment. In this paper information is being obtained in the evaluation of the thermal performance through measurements in two identical buildings, one of them with creeper and the second without creeper in the facades. The field work is being realized with the creeper Parthenocissus tricuspidata (ivy-japanese.,) In order to get information about the performance of the buildings, the environmental parameters were measured indoor and in the external area: air and globe temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, surface temperature of the internal and external walls. Results show differences in the performance of the two buildings. It can be concluded that the use of the vegetation at the facades can contribute in specific interventions in the development of practical instruments for the programs of thermal comfort and improvement of the performance in the built environment.

A landslide investigation using 2D electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) has been undertaken in the Banding Island, Perak. Banding Island is underlain by Baling Formation which consist of two main facies;namely Argillaceous Facie (eastern part) and Arenaceous Facie (western part). The eastern part of the island is relatively prone to landslide and slope failure. Detailed field resistivity imaging was carried on four lines along the eastern and western parts of the Banding Island. The inferred lithological depth sections based on electrical properties clearly differentiates between the different types of rocks.
