Disaster risk reduction of mount agung cold lava flood at the Bali cultural centre in Klungkung Regency

The Bali Province Government plans the development of Bali Cultural Centre as a comprehensive cultural information centre to support the development of Culture-oriented Bali Tourism. The Bali Cultural Centre site is situated in an area of post-mining remnants in Klungkung Regency. The sites located at coordinates 8°32'41.35' - 8°34'30.94' South Latitude and 115°24'54.92' - 115°26'6.99' East Longitude. This site is also portion of estuary area of the Unda River which has a high potential for the danger of cold lava flood from the Mount Agung eruption. The structure to manage cold lava floods at the Unda River estuary is being conducted. The construction is divided into two locations which design to satisfactory a 50-year design flood with discharge of 1436.11 m3 per second. The first location is at upstream (north side of Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra Street) using a single rectangular cross section. The second location is at downstream (south area of Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra Street) using a combine double rectangular cross section. These two types of cross sections are designed to accommodate the capacity of water discharge under normal conditions and still able to drain water discharge in the 50-year return period. The presence of this channel allows the cold lava flood flow directly towards the sea-shore and so as to reduce the risk. It is possible that the sediments settle at the base of the channel, therefore, channel shape normalization and periodic dredging for maintenance are essential.

This study presents an investigation of chemical and physical characterization, green process analysis, techno-economic considerations, and carbon emissions for synthesizing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) from plastic and can waste using microwave-assisted synthesis. The microwave-assisted synthesis proves to be more cost-effective, with a reduction in CO₂ emissions by up to 80%. The synthesized material (MIL-Mw-U) demonstrates excellent performance in methylene blue (MB) removal, achieving 98.41% removal, with 97.87% removal although the catalyst is used in the third cycle. The adsorption of methylene blue (MB) onto MIL-Mw-U achieved a maximum capacity of 295.26 mgg⁻¹ at pH 3 and decreased to 258.68 mgg⁻¹ at pH 11 due to OH⁻ competition. The Langmuir isotherm (R² = 0.9381) and pseudo-second-order kinetics (R² = 0.999) confirmed monolayer chemisorption as the dominant mechanism. This innovative approach supports circular economy principles by converting can and plastic bottle waste into functional material for dye removal, offering sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. © 2025 The Authors

Aim of this research is to analyze the mechanical properties and microstructure of wear resistance steel plates joined by Submerged Arc Welding at different grooves welding. The welding current of 300 Ampere, voltage of 28 Volt and travel speed of 38 cm/min was applied. The microscopical examination methods were used for weld zones. Impact toughness and rockwell hardness test were obtained from the weld metal, heat affected zone and the base metal samples. The fracture surfaces were examined by using optical microscope. As results, there was no difference of hardness and microstructure among three grooves welding. The significant differences were detected at the weld zones. Base metal had the highest hardness value. Ferrite and pearlite phases were obtained at three weld zones, but the heat affected zone had coarser grain structure than the base metal. Weld metal volume and electrode length significantly affected the impact toughness of joint, where the larger of the weld metal volume and length of electrode fill in the groove welding, the higher of impact toughness. The lowest impact energy and toughness value were attained at V groove and the highest was at I groove. The fracture surfaces at all groove welds showed ductile fracture dominantly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Comparative analysis of deep learning approaches for forest stand type classification: insights from the new VHRTreeSpecies benchmark dataset

ABSTRACTRemotely sensed data are widely used for forest stand type classification; however, traditional classification methods are time consuming and mostly implemented for spatially limited areas and species, restricting the transferability of these models to other locations and diverse species. With the increasing availability of high-resolution satellite imagery, deep learning techniques have become widely used in forest management and species classification research. In this study, we generated a new benchmark dataset, VHRTreeSpecies, designed for forest stand type classification. We used Very High Resolution satellite images and corresponding labels derived from forest stand maps provided by the General Directorate of Forestry, covering 15 dominant tree species from Türkiye’s diverse forest ecosystems. Various deep learning models including CNN-based architectures (ResNet50, ResNet101, VGG16, ResNeXt, InceptionV3, ConvNeXt, EfficientNet), transformer models (DeepViT, Swin Transformer, CaiT, SegFormer-b0-b1-b2), and YOLO models (YOLOv8-l and YOLOv11-l) were utilized to assess the performance of these models for the forest tree species classification. Our results demonstrate the effectiveness of SegFormer, which achieved the highest classification accuracy of 96.25%, outperforming traditional CNN models. Additionally, YOLOv8-l proved to be a highly efficient model for both precision and real-time classification tasks, demonstrating its robustness across different tree species.

Making cement produces carbon dioxide (CO2) gas which results in the greenhouse effect. To reduce the use of cement, alternative materials are examined. One of the raw materials for making cement is limestone. Limestone is a sedimentary rock mainly composed of calcium carbonate. Blood clams (Anadara Granosa) are tried to replace cement because they have a high calcium carbonate mineral composition. Blood clams are crushed into powder and filtered using No.325 filter. Cement is replaced by weight by 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Mortar specimens in the form of cubes with a size of 5 cm. Mortar compressive strength test was carried out at 7 and 28 days. Anadara Granosa powder reacts very weakly with water and increases the initial compressive strength of the mortar. The results of Anadara Granosa mortar compressive strength test at 7 days were higher than normal mortar. The most efficient composition is indicated by cement replacement of 20%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Why do educational institutions require ISO certification? "In order to have a common language among educational institutions at home and abroad," The similarity of language in question is the similarity of quality indicators owned by an educational institution, in this case the Educational Organization. Basically, there are three components of the quality assurance system of a Educational Organization: database, internal quality control system (SPMI), and external quality control system (SPME). The database contains the evaluation results for each semester of each study program at university. SPMI is usually run by the Quality Assurance Agency owned by each university, while SPME is run by external agencies of university that test and certify, one of which is ISO 9001:2008/2015 certification. ISO certification is an international standard for Quality Management System (QMS). At Educational Organization, the main indicator of quality management is the commitment of a university in its education, especially in its efforts towards an international university. One of the institutions issuing ISO certification is NQA. There are six assessment criteria specified in the ISO certification test. The six criteria are documentation control, record control, product control, internal audit, product development (improvement), and product correction. Products in the Educational Organization is the education given a university to its students. The quality of education is also measured from the level of satisfaction of companies that use graduates of a university.

Kelase is an E-learning program that has been applied in the Agricultural Technology Education (PTP), especially in the Toxicology and Food Safety courses. This study aims to analyze application and acceptance of PTP students to Kelase, as well as variable correlation and linearity used in the Technology Accepted Model (TAM) method. The independent variables in this study consisted of variables perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, while the observation variable was acceptance. Techniques for collecting data through giving questionnaires. The questionnaire instrument was tested for its validity and reliability. Data measurement scale uses Likert scale. Data processing uses IBM SPSS 20.0 software. The results show that level of perception of PTP student admissions is very high, which is between 70.1-91%. The correlation of TAM variable is significant and positive. Both variables, perceived ease of use (X1) and perceived usefulness (X2), are very influential on acceptance (Y) and both of these variables simultaneously influence the level of student acceptance of Kelase. The regression determination coefficient is generated, which is 52%. These results indicate that the influence of variables perceived ease of use (X1) and perceived usefulness (X2) is only 52%, and the rest, which is 48% influenced by other variables. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Personalized medicine (PM) promises to transform healthcare by providingtreatments tailored to individual genetic, environmental, and lifestylefactors. However, its high costs and infrastructure demands raise concernsabout exacerbating health disparities, especially between high-income countries(HICs) and low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While HICs benefit fromadvanced PM applications through AI and genomics, LMICs often lack theresources necessary to adopt these innovations, leading to a wideninghealthcare divide. This paper explores the financial and ethical challenges ofPM implementation, with a focus on ensuring equitable access. Public infrastructure development in Indonesia is an integral part of the national development planning system, and the government attempts to ensure the process is done rigorously to fulfil the system's objectives. Part of public infrastructure is roads, and the utilities that are installed nearby. The development of utilities in and adjacent to the public right of way in Indonesia involves of various stakeholders that should be managed properly to avoid unnecessary interface problems. Those stakeholders include government agencies, community groups, private enterprises, and state or regional owned enterprises. The interaction between stakeholders of utilities in and adjacent to the public right of way should be identified clearly, and for sustainability objective, an identification of the process and interaction first should be done in the low level of the government i.e. district area. This paper is a preliminary study of a research about stakeholders' interaction structure in Indonesia's district public infrastructure development process. This paper focuses on utilities that installed in and adjacent to the district's road in Indonesia. The purpose of this paper is to explain the interaction framework of stakeholders involved, and the methods that are used to describe the relationship. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Rhinacathin nasutus, commonly found in the tropical regions of Africa and Asia, has demonstrated a range of pharmacological effects, including anticancer, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-Alzheimer, anti-tumor, anti-Parkinson, and hypolipidemic activities. However, reports on how its secondary metabolites inhibit α-glucosidase are scarce. The phytochemical investigation on the stems of Rhinacathin nasuthus resulted in the isolation and identification of a new compound (1) together with nine known metabolites (2−10). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques, mass spectrometry and literature values. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined through NOESY data analysis and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy. All isolated compounds were tested for their yeast α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, exhibiting moderate to good activity. Notably, compounds (3), (4), and betulin (8) showed potent activity toward α-glucosidase with IC50 values of 10.8, 18.6, and 6.5 µM, respectively (the positive control, acarbose, IC50 93.63 μM). This study marks the first investigation of α-glucosidase activity for compounds 3 and 4. Therefore, these compounds were chosen for kinetic studies, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics to understand their mechanism. The results from both in vitro and in silico studies suggest that compounds 3 and 4 could be promising candidates for further research in the development of new α-glucosidase inhibitors. © 2024, The Authors.
