Cement is the most widely used building material worldwide. Its production demands a large amount of natural resources, in addition to high energy consumption. Thus, the cement industry has been looking for solutions that effectively reduce the use of these resources as well as greenhouse gas emissions. This research aims to show the technical feasibility of incorporating civil construction waste (CCW) in the production of Portland cement. To this purpose, the physicochemical characterization of the raw materials used was carried out, dosage and manufacture of the raw mix, which were calcined at 1450 °C. Clinkers were characterized mineralogically, by means of XRD, to verify the formation of the crystalline phases. Subsequently, the clinkers were ground, resulting in Portland cements, and their physical-mechanical properties were evaluated. The results showed the potential of using CCW as an alternative raw material, since experimental cements presented performance similar to industrial cements used as a reference.

Indonesia is earthquake and tsunami prone areas, included Sumatera Island. Bandar Lampung is also vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami, especially Kangkung fishing village in Lampung Bay. Disaster risk reduction is very important to be implemented in the cases of earthquake and tsunami, which can save more life and build resilience in facing the hazard. This research aimed to study how the knowledge, awareness, and resilience of people in Kangkung fishing village can strengthen the earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. This research conducted by quantitative methods. Survey and interview of 53 respondents were conducted as well as data collecting approached by purposive sampling. The results found that there is little knowledge and awareness of people in Kangkung fishing village of the hazard of earthquake and tsunami. Therefore, this research proposed a model of 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. It is a comprehensive and sustainable model of how people take a part in disaster risk reduction by intensive participatory. Conclusion of this research emphasized that disaster risk reduction is a big matter in marginalized society such as people in Kangkung fishing village. The 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction that may increase the knowledge and awareness to become more resilience.

Water quality indices (WQI) using STORET method has been used to assess rainwater quality in the Bandung urban regions, based on monitoring data at three locations (Coblong, Sumur Bandung, and Buah Batu). Rainwater samples were analyzed by detecting pH, SO4 2-, NO3 −, Cl−, and heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Pb, and Zn) compared with Indonesian Government Regulation No. 82 Year 2001. Rainwater quality showed polluted based on the parameters of the water quality indices analysis using the Class I and Class II criteria. Rainwater quality in Bandung urban region were lightly polluted (Coblong) and moderately polluted (Sumur Bandung and Buah Batu). Rainwater can potentially become a water sources alternative for domestic use and urban farming in Bandung urban region, but it requires further treatment for better quality.

The incorporation of different levels of UOW into Portland clinker raw meals and its effects on the clinker and cement properties were evaluated. Clinkers were produced and characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and optical microscopy; the cements were produced and physically characterized. Finally, pastes were produced and analyzed using isothermal calorimetry, thermogravimetry, XRD, and compressive strength tests. UOW, when added up to 1.29% in Portland clinker raw meal, acts as a mineralizer, increasing the content of alite by 6.44%. The incorporation of UOW reduces the hydration rate in the first days owing to the increase in the size of the alite crystals and delays the point of sulfate depletion due to the increase in the SO 3 content of the clinkers. Owing to the higher content of alite formed, the cement produced from the raw meal with 1.29% of UOW presents the highest early mechanical strength (up to 7 days).

Blackwater is a type of domestic wastewater that must be processed before discharge into the river. This study uses gravel, sand, and charcoal as filtration materials which arranged from coarse to fine, and also wetland system using Vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides) and Cattail (Typha angustifolia). The treatment process is obtained by applying different treatments related to the sand thickness and blackwater residence time in the wetland. The focus of observation is emphasized on the measurement of BOD (Biological oxygen demand) and COD (Chemical oxygen demand). Both parameters measured and compared with the standard of water for agricultural purposes (Grade IV) regulated by Indonesian Government. The results showed that stratified filters can reduce the levels of BOD and COD effectively. The final results obtained after blackwater flowed through the wetland tube shows that BOD and COD levels have yet to meet the standard of grade IV water, although the overall result indicated the significant reduction of both parameters. This can be related to the input of organic matter from wetland itself, and it also can be considered an indication that blackwater treatment requires longer residence time.

An earthquake resistant structure should be able to perform as expected when it's struck by an earthquake such as it may experience slight damage and should be able to be repaired to its original state when struck by a design level earthquake. However, there are still debates whether reparation should also be viable when structures are experiencing severe damage. There are still a little to no studies about repairing severely damaged structures, therefore a study was made to see how severely damaged structures behaved after being repaired. Two beam column joints are used as specimens, which were severely damaged by an earthquake simulation before getting repaired. Both their initial and repaired condition are then modeled analytically using SAP2000. Their behaviors such as plastic hinges, joint's shear deformation, bond slip, and rebars' residual strain and stress due to previous loading are also implemented to the model. Although the lateral strength of the specimens are similar to their analytical model, the other behavior, especially their stiffness is not similar, therefore needing another parameter implemented in the model.

This study aimed to devisea new design of domestic waste treatment which can produce an output of class IV water (irrigation water) based on measurement of TDS (Total Dissolved Solid) and TSS (Total Suspended Solid) parameters. The physical model tested in this research wasa stratified filter consisting of compositionsfrom coarse to fine materialsnamely gravel, charcoal and sand. Furthermore, filtering blackwater waste was refined by remediation with Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) and Vetiver (Vetiveria Zizanoides). The physical model of WWTP was set to 1:25 added by a stratified filter in the upstream section. Observations were done by measuring blackwater TDS levels prior to treatment, after going through a stratified filter, and after going through a remediation process with aquatic plants. The results showed that stratified filters and wetland can reduce TDS levels in blackwater until it reached the standard for irrigation water.

As there is an increasing number of disasters hitting countries around the world, numerous mitigation strategies have been proposed and implemented to alleviate such impacts. Indeed, every year many public and private organizations work together to prepare various disaster exercises for training their first responders. Design of an appropriate drill script, hence, plays an important role of enhancing the capability of first responders or emergency response units in response to a real disaster. However, developing a reasonable disaster scenario is a time-consuming and error-prone task, not to mention the prerequisites pertaining to extensive experience and knowledge in disasters handling that drill script designers must have. Therefore, in this research an ontology model with SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language) constructs was proposed to help the drill scripts generation process. Drill script designers can use the Taiwan Earthquake Loss Estimation System (TELES), which is a customized and simplified version of the HAZUS-MH program from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), to create data sets describing the impact of a simulated earthquake in a certain region. Then, the proposed model and tools, called EDSS (Earthquake Drill Scripts generation and rendering System), can incorporate the input data sets and generate a set of corresponding drill scripts, which follow the pre-defined rules represented in the ontology model. Each drill script will contain a unique and possible scenario describing the earthquake damage on different buildings or facilities in the region. Unity, a serious game platform, was utilized in the proposed system for displaying all the events associated with the earthquake in accordance with the drill script designed. Finally, disaster mitigation experts were asked to evaluate the drill scripts generated and to assess the effectiveness of the proposed model. The assessment results showed that the proposed model and tools can help first responder
