In general, the process of building construction makes the inevitable wastes such as nails, formwork, steel and concrete. In order to reduce these wastes, parts of building have therefore been produced by using the manufacturing process. This process can improve construction process with minimum wastes and time of construction. However, the manufacturing process is not completely effective for building construction. There is also an additional cost for the transportation from manufactory to the construction site. For this reason, to set the exact time of the construction process, to avoid material waste and to effectively reduce the construction cost, all the production processes of manufacturing building should be started and ended at construction sites. This research has studied the Lean Manufacturing Process (LMP) and applied to the process of the construction which is called "the building with the on-site manufacturing process, BMP" to reduce instable human resource by machines which provides three advantages as follows: 1) the better quality, 2) minimum constructing cost and 3) minimum constructing period. © 2018 International Association of Lowland Technology. Prioritizing rural roads projects in north-eastern Thailand by analytical hierarchy process (AHP)

This paper presents the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in rural roads prioritization. The paper exhibits the concept and process of the plan for rural road development and application of multiple criteria decision analysis using AHP for prioritizing rural roads on a rational basis. Rural road network was grouped on strategic issues and strategies of Department of Rural Roads. There are three main factors to be used as an indicator to assess the importance of routes of each type of road: Transport and Traffic engineering, Accessibility and Other. The result of criteria weights was determined by Expert Choice software according to the AHP model. The results of weight factor analysis can be divided into 2 groups: The Transportation and Traffic engineering dominant road (Logistics, Traffic Reduction and Country's Border Road) and the Accessibility dominant road (Tourism and Rural Area Accessibility Road). This study will be able to prioritize rural roads and allocate limited budget for development in the future. The master plan obtained from AHP application shows that this plan is consistent, and links with the country strategic plan under the Department of Rural Roads year 2017-2026, which is a longterm plan (10 years), and the Strategic Plan Framework Development of Rural Roads year 2017 - 2020, which is a medium-term plan (4 years). The main goal of the Rural Roads Development Plan in the area is to develop a rural road network to connect the Development of National infrastructure and the Northeast Development Plan perfectly. © 2018 International Association of Lowland Technology. Building management strategically covers each of the existing organizational units and works together to achieve one goal. The issue of asset management is a problem that is often found in a company, education or government agency, to support every activity of a well-organized asset management building. The maintenance activities of the Governor's Office building run by the General Bureau and Building Sub-Maintenance Sub-Section are now quite good. But in running the maintenance activities to run smoothly of course must be supported by a system capable of supporting these activities. Problems that occur mechanism of maintenance system of South Sumatera Governor Office building is unstructured, executed manually and not well recorded so that if there is maintenance action takes a long time and sometimes not right target. The objective of the study is to develop the Governor's Office Building Maintenance Procedure. Evaluation of maintenance system from activity aspect that is organizational structure, procedure, form and evaluation of user satisfaction aspect with performance variable, information, economics, supervision, efficiency, service then develops Governor Office Building Maintenance Procedure. It is expected that the development of appropriate building maintenance system procedures, effective and efficient to assist the maintenance activities of South Sumatra Governor's office building.

Role Analysis and Mandor Functions on Bridge and Building Construction Projects in District Ogan Komering Ulu

The foreman as one of key factors in the success of construction activities, but in reality the role and function of the foreman has not been effective. The aims to identify the description of the role and function of the foreman in the organization of the construction project and information about owner's satisfaction. The population is all owner, contractor, and workman who work in bridge and building construction project in Ogan Komering Ulu. The approach of this study using a quantitative approach that is by survey with questionnaires. Data processing is done by using likert scale by giving value on each answer choice. After that was analyzed with SPSS version 20 computer program. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) between project the expectant owner's level of 4.54 ('always' expected) greater than the owner's satisfaction 4.16 (satisfactory) with the role of the foreman on bridge and building project. There was a significant difference between owner's expectation of 4.59 ('always' expected) greater than the owner's satisfaction 4.30 (satisfactory) with the foreman's function. It is the importance of the role and function of the foreman so that it's necessary to increase the competence of foreman and formulate more effective working agreement mechanism.

Indonesia is earthquake and tsunami prone areas, included Sumatera Island. Bandar Lampung is also vulnerable to earthquake and tsunami, especially Kangkung fishing village in Lampung Bay. Disaster risk reduction is very important to be implemented in the cases of earthquake and tsunami, which can save more life and build resilience in facing the hazard. This research aimed to study how the knowledge, awareness, and resilience of people in Kangkung fishing village can strengthen the earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. This research conducted by quantitative methods. Survey and interview of 53 respondents were conducted as well as data collecting approached by purposive sampling. The results found that there is little knowledge and awareness of people in Kangkung fishing village of the hazard of earthquake and tsunami. Therefore, this research proposed a model of 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction. It is a comprehensive and sustainable model of how people take a part in disaster risk reduction by intensive participatory. Conclusion of this research emphasized that disaster risk reduction is a big matter in marginalized society such as people in Kangkung fishing village. The 'Community-Based Resilience Strategy' Model of earthquake and tsunami disaster risk reduction that may increase the knowledge and awareness to become more resilience.

Comparative study of asphalt concrete characteristic between ideal gradation and laboratory tested gradation with crumb rubber

Modifying asphalt concrete with using Crumb Rubber (CR) can provide environmental benefits. The method used in this study is an experimental laboratory with Mashall machine. The tests used two types of gradation, namely the gradations of Ideal and Laboratory Test. CR used in a mixture with a dry process method to replacement 0%, 5%, 15% and 20% of the weight aggregate at fraction No. 30 (0.6 mm). The results showed that the Ideal gradation mixture has a better characteristic than the mixture of laboratory tested gradations. Ideal gradations can increased stability into 10% from Laboratory Test gradations for mixture without CR. Addition of CR contect in AC mixture did not significantly effect for the characteristics. To ensure the effect of CR in mixture, further test must be taken.

Maintenance of the stadium has been done for the 18th Asian Games 2018. However, the previous maintenances were not comprehensive and held in the run up to the big events only. It affects the performance of its components utilities. A new local company was established by the Government of South Sumatra Province, in order to make a good maintenance of the stadium. However, the planned maintenance has not been actualized by the company yet. Many obstacles encountered in stadium maintenance, including regulatory, complexity of utilities, and stakeholder's influences. This paper aims to develop a maintenance system that is in accordance with existing conditions and applicable regulations. This study is devoted to electrical lighting systems because almost every week the stadium is also used for football matches. The methodology was divided into three parts, i.e.: rating for each parts of the utility, descriptive qualitative for regulatory identification, and stakeholders analysis, and they are developed to create a maintenance system. The result is a system that is proposed to find out the most important stakeholders in the maintenance of the highest priority of lighting utility based on official assessment.

The Effect of EPS Addition to Soil Stabilized with Fly Ash as Lightweight Fill Materials for Embankment Construction

Design and construction of road embankment presents several challenges, including the possibility of bearing capacity failure, large total settlement, differential settlement, and slope instability, which may result from the weight of the embankment construction itself, and/or weak foundation. A number of techniques have been developed and can be used to overcome these problems, one of them is by modifying the weight of the embankment itself with the use of lightweight materials, such as soil-EPS mixture. The use of soil-EPS mixture as lightweight material provides several advantages, among which can achieve the same volume or elevation requirement with a significantly lighter weight compared to ordinary materials, improving slope stability, embankment over high compressibility soil, and to reduce soil pressure to soil retaining structures, abutment or bridge pillar. Fly ash also added to act as binder to increase shear strength of mixture. The result of the compaction test shows that the addition of a small amount of EPS to the mixture can significantly reduce the maximum dry density of the mixture. Triaxial UU and UCS test results show a reduction in mixture strength as EPS contents increase, but due to the presence of fly ash increases the strength of mixture as the number of day increases, so that the use of lightweight materials has the potential to be one of soil improvement solutions.

Green nursing-home model: The Thammapakon Pho Klang nursing home, Thailand

This paper presents the design of the new Thammapakon Pho Klang Nursing Home, Nakhon Ratchasima, as a modern model for Thai nursing homes. The nursing home is based on green-building, energy-saving and human-factors engineering principles and covers an area of 102,000 m2 (2,520 acres). The model includes the site design and the buildings of the nursing home, which conforms with green-building and energy-saving principles. The novel nursing home represents a practical approach to the optimization of building use and building resources in the areas of building utilization, water management, waste management, environmentally friendly materials selection, the effect of buildings on the health of building users and the environment, construction, operations, maintenance, and final demolition. The designed buildings include an office building, a hospital, a dormitory for the elderly, a canteen and a multipurpose building. The elderly’s facility design is based on universal design and human-factors engineering. Google’s SketchUp 8 program was used to design the layout of the buildings, the style and size of the openings around the buildings, the building envelope materials, and the position and types of vegetation around the building according to sun direction. It was determined that the overall thermal transmission values (OTTV) and the roof thermal transmission values (RTTV) of the designed buildings are within the prescribed energy-efficient building standard (OTTV 2 and RTTV 2). © 2018 International Association of Lowland Technology. Freshwater scarcity and unsustainable water use is a growing concern in many developing countries including India. Increasing water demand coupled with rainfall variability associated with climate change exacerbates water scarcity. The increase in water demand is attributed to population and economic growth as well as technological change, and the gap between the actual water available and the demand continues to widen. This study aims to develop a large-scale assessment model of sustainable water use in India during the period 1970 – 2010 at a spatial resolution of 50 km x 50 km and a temporal resolution of monthly timescale. A Community Land Model CLM 4.0, developed by the National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) of the US, and census-based statistical database are used in this study to quantify and assess the sustainable water use in India. We define the measure of sustainable water use as the difference between the total water available and the total water demand. For each grid cell, the total water available is modelled as the sum of surface runoff and groundwater. The total water demand is estimated as the sum of irrigation, industrial, domestic and environmental water demand in each grid cell. Among the demands, the irrigation water demand is modelled based on census data sets of irrigated areas and irrigation water withdrawal while the domestic and industrial water demand is modelled as a function of population, economic and technological indicators such as gross domestic product, electricity, fuel consumption and industrial outputs. However, the environmental water demand is modelled as a function of total water available, following hydrology based approach, with seasonal variation of water demand to meet the various ecosystem services considered. Based on preliminary analysis, the rate of increase in industrial water demand (~2% increase per annum) and domestic water demand (~1.2% increase per annum) is higher than the rate of increase in irrigation
