Research advancement has spurred the usage of electroencephalography (EEG)-based neural oscillatory rhythms as a biomarker to complement clinical rehabilitation strategies for the recovery of motor functions in stroke survivors. However, the inevitable contamination of EEG signals with artifacts from various sources limits its utilization and effectiveness. Thus, the integration of Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and Independent Component Label (ICLabel) has been widely employed to separate neural activity from artifacts. A crucial step in the ICLabel preprocessing pipeline is the artifactual ICs rejection threshold (TH) parameter, which determines the overall signal's quality. For instance, selecting a high TH will cause many ICs to be rejected, thereby leading to signal over-cleaning, and choosing a low TH may result in under-cleaning of the signal. Toward determining the optimal TH parameter, this study investigates the effect of six different TH groups (NO-TH and TH1-TH6) on EEG signals recorded from post-stroke patients who performed four distinct motor imagery (MI) tasks including wrist and grasping movements. Utilizing the EEG-beta band signal at the brain's sensorimotor cortex, the performance of the TH groups was evaluated using three notable EEG quantifiers. Overall, the obtained result shows that the considered THs will significantly alter neural oscillatory patterns. Comparing the performance of the TH-groups, TH-3 with a confidence level of 60% showed consistently stronger signal desynchronization and lateralization. The correlation result shows that most of the electrode pairs with high correlation values are replicable across all the MI tasks. It also revealed that brain activity correlates linearly with distance, and a strong correlation between electrode pairs is independent of the different brain cortices. Traffic congestion is a major threat to transportation sector in every urban city around the world. This causes many adverse effects like, heavy fuel consumption, increased waiting time, pollution, etc. and pose an eminent challenge to the movement of emergency vehicles. To achieve better driving we proceed towards a trending research field called Social Internet of Vehicles (SIoV). A social network paradigm that permits the establishment of social relationships among every vehicle in the network or with any road infrastructure can be radically helpful. This holds as the aim of SIoV, to be beneficial for the drivers, in improving the road safety, avoiding mishaps, and have a friendly-driving environment. In this paper, we propose a Dynamic congestion control with Throughput Maximization scheme based on Social Aspect (D-TMSA) utilizing the social, behavioral and preference-based relationships. Our proposed scheme along with the various social relationship types allocates green signal to maximize the traffic flow passing through an intersection. Simulation results show that the D-TMSA outperforms the existing work by achieving high throughput, lowering the total traveling time and reducing the average waiting time to better the flow of traffic based on their social attributes with each other.

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is emerging as a pivotal technology for enhancing traffic management and safety. Its rapid development demands solutions for enhanced communication efficiency and reduced latency. However, traditional centralized networks struggle to meet these demands, prompting the exploration of decentralized solutions such as blockchain. Addressing blockchain's scalability challenges posed by the growing number of nodes and transactions calls for innovative solutions, among which sharding stands out as a pivotal approach to significantly enhance blockchain throughput. However, existing schemes still face challenges related to a) the impact of vehicle mobility on blockchain consensus, especially for cross-shard transaction;and b) the strict requirements of low latency consensus in a highly dynamic network. In this paper, we propose a DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) consensus leveraging Robust Dynamic Sharding and Tree-broadcasting (DRDST) to address these challenges. Specifically, we first develop a standard for evaluating the network stability of nodes, combined with the nodes' trust values, to propose a novel robust sharding model that is solved through the design of the Genetic Sharding Algorithm (GSA). Then, we optimize the broadcast latency of the whole sharded network by improving the tree-broadcasting to minimize the maximum broadcast latency within each shard. On this basis, we also design a DAG consensus scheme based on an improved hashgraph protocol, which can efficiently handle cross-shard transactions. Finally, the simulation proves the proposed scheme is superior to the comparison schemes in latency, throughput, consensus success rate, and node traffic load. © 2024, CC0.

G2Face: High-Fidelity Reversible Face Anonymization via Generative and Geometric Priors

Reversible face anonymization, unlike traditional face pixelization, seeks to replace sensitive identity information in facial images with synthesized alternatives, preserving privacy without sacrificing image clarity. Traditional methods, such as encoder-decoder networks, often result in significant loss of facial details due to their limited learning capacity. Additionally, relying on latent manipulation in pre-trained GANs can lead to changes in ID-irrelevant attributes, adversely affecting data utility due to GAN inversion inaccuracies. This paper introduces G2Face, which leverages both generative and geometric priors to enhance identity manipulation, achieving high-quality reversible face anonymization without compromising data utility. We utilize a 3D face model to extract geometric information from the input face, integrating it with a pre-trained GAN-based decoder. This synergy of generative and geometric priors allows the decoder to produce realistic anonymized faces with consistent geometry. Moreover, multi-scale facial features are extracted from the original face and combined with the decoder using our novel identity-aware feature fusion blocks (IFF). This integration enables precise blending of the generated facial patterns with the original ID-irrelevant features, resulting in accurate identity manipulation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art techniques in face anonymization and recovery, while preserving high data utility. The Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) paradigm is anticipated to be a cornerstone of the upcoming 6G networks. In order to optimize the use of wireless resources, 6G ISAC systems need to harness the communication data payload signals, which are inherently random, for both sensing and communication (S&C) purposes. This tutorial paper provides a comprehensive technical overview of the fundamental theory and signal processing methodologies for ISAC transmission with random communication signals. We begin by introducing the deterministic-random tradeoff (DRT) between S&C from an information-theoretic perspective, emphasizing the need for specialized signal processing techniques tailored to random ISAC signals. Building on this foundation, we review the core signal models and processing pipelines for communication-centric ISAC systems, and analyze the average squared auto-correlation function (ACF) of random ISAC signals, which serves as a fundamental performance metric for multi-target ranging tasks. Drawing insights from these theoretical results, we outline the design principles for the three key components of communication-centric ISAC systems: modulation schemes, constellation design, and pulse shaping filters. The goal is to either enhance sensing performance without compromising communication efficiency or to establish a scalable tradeoff between the two. We then extend our analysis from a single-antenna ISAC system to its multi-antenna counterpart, discussing recent advancements in multiinput multi-output (MIMO) precoding techniques specifically designed for random ISAC signals. With rapid availability of renewable energy sources and growing interest in their use in the datacenter industry presents opportunities for service providers to reduce their energy related costs, as well as, minimize the ecological impact of their infrastructure. However, renewables are largely intermittent and can, negatively affect users’ applications and their performance, therefore, the profit of the service providers. Furthermore, services could be offered from those geographical locations where electricity is relatively cheaper than other locations; which may degrade the applications’ performance and potentially increase users’ costs. To ensure larger providers’ profits and lower users’ costs, certain non-interactive workloads could be either: moved and executed in geographical locations offering the lowest energy prices; or could be queued and delayed to execute later (in day or night time) when renewables, such as solar and wind energies, are at peak. However, these may have negative impacts on the energy consumption, workloads performance, and users’ costs. Therefore, to ensure energy, performance and cost efficiencies, appropriate workload scheduling, placement, migration, and resource management techniques are required to mange the infrastructure resources, workloads, and energy sources. In this paper, we propose a workload placement and three different migration policies that maximize the providers’ revenues, ensure the workload performance, reduce energy consumption, along with reducing ecological impacts and users’ costs. Using real workload traces and electricity prices for several geographical locations and distributed, heterogeneous, datacenters, our experimental evaluation suggest that the proposed approaches could save significant amount of energy ( ∼ 15.26%), reduces service monetary costs ( ∼ 0.53% - ∼ 19.66%), improves ( ∼ 1.58%) or, at least, maintains the expected level of applications’ performance, and increases providers’ revenue along with

ntelligent Intersections (roundabout and crossroads) management is considered as one of the challenges to significantly improve urban traffic efficiency. Recent researches in artificial intelligence suggest that autonomous vehicles have the possibility of forming intelligent intersection management, and likely to occupy the leading role in future urban traffic. If route planning method can be used for route decision of autonomous vehicle, the urban traffic efficiency can be further improved. In this paper, we propose an Intelligent Intersection Control Protocol (IICP) for controlling autonomous vehicles cross intersection, and recommend route for autonomous vehicles to reduce travel time and improve urban traffic efficiency. Firstly, we run IICP to obtain the original data, use SMOTE algorithm to synthesize balance data, and use RF, GBDT algorithms to predict delay time. Secondly, we use the iEigenAnt algorithm to find multiple short routes in traffic network. Finally, we recommend route for autonomous vehicles based on the minimum of driving time on the route and all delay time at each intersection to improve urban traffic efficiency. © 2020 Knowledge systems Institute Graduate school. Generative AI (GenAI) is driving the intelligence of wireless communications. Due to data limitations, random generation, and dynamic environments, GenAI may generate channel information or optimization strategies that violate physical laws or deviate from actual real-world requirements. We refer to this phenomenon as wireless hallucination, which results in invalid channel information, spectrum wastage, and low communication reliability but remains underexplored. To address this gap, this article provides a comprehensive concept of wireless hallucinations in GenAI-driven communications, focusing on hallucination mitigation. Specifically, we first introduce the fundamental, analyze its causes based on the GenAI workflow, and propose mitigation solutions at the data, model, and post-generation levels. Then, we systematically examines representative hallucination scenarios in GenAI-enabled communications and their corresponding solutions. Finally, we propose a novel integrated mitigation solution for GenAI-based channel estimation. At the data level, we establish a channel estimation hallucination dataset and employ generative adversarial networks (GANs)-based data augmentation. Additionally, we incorporate attention mechanisms and large language models (LLMs) to enhance both training and inference performance. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed hybrid solutions reduce the normalized mean square error (NMSE) by 0.19, effectively reducing wireless hallucinations. Agent actions planning is a challenging problem in multi-agent reinforcement learning. Recent methods typically build their predictive models by full connection layers, but the shortage of utilizing action and observation information in complex multi-agent environment limits the performance of those methods. To address this issue, we propose a novel predictive model based on self-attention mechanism which can effectively use information in the environment. Specifically, we use the MADDPG algorithm to make a dataset where the input is the observations and actions and the output is the predicted observations and rewards. We also introduce the multi-head attention mechanism into the predictive model so that the predictive model can better combine different information for prediction. We perform extensive experiments to assess the proposed method and compare it with the representative baseline approach. Results demonstrate that our method outperforms competitors with higher accuracy in different tasks. Our implementation will be publicly available.

Forests cover nearly one-third of the Earth’s land and are some of our most biodiverse ecosystems. Due to climate change, these essential habitats are endangered by increasing wildfires. Wildfires are not just a risk to the environment, but they also pose public health risks. Given these issues, there is an indispensable need for efficient and early detection methods. Conventional detection approaches fall short due to spatial limitations and manual feature engineering, which calls for the exploration and development of data-driven deep learning solutions. This paper, in this regard, proposes 'FireXnet', a tailored deep learning model designed for improved efficiency and accuracy in wildfire detection. FireXnet is tailored to have a lightweight architecture that exhibits high accuracy with significantly less training and testing time. It contains considerably reduced trainable and non-trainable parameters, which makes it suitable for resource-constrained devices. To make the FireXnet model visually explainable and trustable, a powerful explainable artificial intelligence (AI) tool, SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) has been incorporated. It interprets FireXnet’s decisions by computing the contribution of each feature to the prediction. Furthermore, the performance of FireXnet is compared against five pre-trained models — VGG16, InceptionResNetV2, InceptionV3, DenseNet201, and MobileNetV2 — to benchmark its efficiency. For a fair comparison, transfer learning and fine-tuning have been applied to the aforementioned models to retrain the models on our dataset. The test accuracy of the proposed FireXnet model is 98.42%, which is greater than all other models used for comparison. Furthermore, results of reliability parameters confirm the model’s reliability, i.e., a confidence interval of [0.97, 1.00] validates the certainty of the proposed model’s estimates and a Cohen’s kappa coefficient of 0.98 proves that decisions of FireXnet are in considerable accordance with t
