A secured GA-WPC framework for scheduling the independent tasks in cloud environment

cloud computing proved itself a powerful and popular platform for providing computing services. It offers on-demand services to users with highly efficient resources over the internet. With the exponential increase in the number of internet users and due to the high acceptance rate to use the cloud services in everything, the demand for cloud platforms has also increased significantly. This leads to heavy workloads on the servers, which is a difficult task to manage due to the heterogeneity and uncertainty of the resources. However, several traditional, heuristic, and evolutionary-based approaches have been proposed to solve the problem of scheduling. Existing state-of-art techniques and frameworks have solved the problem up to a limited level. Still, these solutions have not given any effective and concrete solution for the overall resource scheduling problem. Therefore, this paper tries to overcome the bottleneck of existing solutions by presenting a new framework named Genetic Algorithm Water Pressure Change (GAWPC) to solve task scheduling problems efficiently. The GAWPC framework exploited the feature of the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Water Pressure Change optimization (WPCO) techniques to form a new hybrid mechanism. In the proposed framework, GA has been deployed to find the optimal solution for a particular population. WPCO has been used to optimize fitness function for a fast convergence rate. The computer-based simulation has demonstrated promising benefits like improved computation cost, make-span time, and load balancing when compared with the most recent existing baseline techniques using cloudSim. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Traditional games like "Tag" rely on shared control via inter-body interactions (IBIs) – touching, pushing, and pulling – that foster emotional and social connection. Digital games largely limit IBIs, with players using their bodies as input to control virtual avatars instead. Our "Shared Bodily Fusion" approach addresses this by fusing players’ bodies through a mediating computer, creating a shared input and output system. We demonstrate this approach with "Hidden Touch", a game where a novel social electrical muscle stimulation system transforms touch (input) into muscle actuations (output), facilitating IBIs. Through a study (n=27), we identifed three player experience themes. Informed by these fndings and our design process, we mapped their trajectories across our three experiential spaces – threshold, tolerance, and precision – which collectively form our design framework. This framework facilitates the creation of future digital games where IBIs are intrinsic, ultimately promoting the many benefts of social play. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Recently image steganography methods based on invertible neural networks (INNs) demonstrated the capability to automatically embed and extract secret messages while maintaining high visual quality in stego images. However, there remain concerns about security and invertibility of such methods. In this paper, for the first time, we introduce adversarial hiding into INN-based image steganography method to simultaneously perform steganographic embedding and adversarial perturbation generation, resulting in improved security. Our method enhances the invertibility of the INN structure: It utilizes the lost information of the INN to generate perturbations, which are then combined with the gradient of the cover image to produce an adversarial stego image. Also, a learnable noise layer is proposed to mitigate information loss caused by rounding and truncation during image storage. Therefore, the proposed method significantly improves security while enhancing extraction performance of INN-based steganography approach, as supported by our experimental results. For example, the steganalysis detection accuracy of SRNet decreases from 96.86% to 51.77% at a payload of 0.2 bits per pixel (bpp).

Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have been shown vulnerable to universal adversarial perturbation (UAP), which are imperceptible and capable of fooling the target model for most samples. Existing universal attack methods mainly focus on aggregating the gradient obtained from global image features to directly optimize (noise-based) or indirectly generate (generator-based) UAP. However, such methods do not yet consider improving the generalization of UAP from the perspective of making the perturbation irrelevant to image content. We note that minimizing self-similarity is helpful to make the UAP irrelevant to the image content. Therefore, we propose a novel Content-Agnostic UAP (CA-UAP), which combines global image features and local patch features to optimize UAP. Specifically, we introduce a self-similarity loss that encourages minimizing the similarity between adversarial perturbed global images and their randomly cropped local regions, making the UAP agnostic to image content and consequently enhancing UAP generalization. Extensive experiments on the ILSVRC 2012 dataset demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms existing methods in both untargeted and targeted attacks, e.g., improving the average fooling rate from 79.12% (achieved by the state-of-the-art method) to 82.25% in targeted attacks.

Versatile Tasks on Integrated Aerial Platforms Using Only Onboard Sensors: Control, Estimation, and Validation

Connecting multiple aerial vehicles to a rigid central platform through passive spherical joints holds the potential to construct a fully-actuated aerial platform. The integration of multiple vehicles enhances efficiency in tasks like mapping and object reconnaissance. This paper proposes a control and state estimation framework for the Integrated Aerial Platform (IAP), enabling it to perform versatile tasks like object reconnaissance and physical interactive tasks with only onboard sensors. In the framework, the 6D motion control serves as the low-level controller, while the high-level controller comprises a 6D admittance filter and a perception-aware attitude correction module. The 6D admittance filter, serving as the interaction controller, is adaptable for aerial interaction tasks. The perception-aware attitude correction algorithm is carefully designed by adopting a geometric Model Predictive Controller (MPC). This algorithm, incorporating both offline and online calculations, proves to be well-suited for the intricate dynamics of an IAP. A 6D direct wrench controller is also developed for the IAP. Notably, both the interaction controller and the direct wrench controller operate without reliance on force/torque sensors. Instead, a wrench observer algorithm is devised, considering external disturbances. Additionally, based on the kinematics constraints of the multiple aerials in the platform, a fusion algorithm for multiple Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO) and kinematics constraints is developed, providing more accurate localization. A prototype of the IAP is constructed, and its capabilities are demonstrated through experiments including perception-aware object reconnaissance, aerial mapping, aerial peg-in-hole task, and 6D contact wrench generation. All experiments are conducted exclusively with onboard sensors. These tasks exemplify the merits of the proposed IAP and validate the effectiveness of the proposed control framework and fusion algorithm. © 2004-2012

Fog computing is a promising technology for critical, resource-intensive, and time-sensitive applications. In this regard, a significant challenge is generating an offloading solution that minimizes the latency, energy, and number of outages for a dense IoT-Fog environment. However, the existing solutions either focus on a single objective or mainly dedicate fixed-sized resources as virtual resource units (VRUs). Moreover, these solutions are restrictive and not comprehensive, resulting in poor performance. To overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a VMAP model addressing the lacunas above. Offloading problem is abstracted as a one-to-many matching game between two sets of entities - tasks and fog nodes (FNs) by considering both preferences. Moreover, the preferences and weights of the parameters are generated using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Exhaustive simulations indicate that the proposed strategy outperforms the baseline algorithms, considering average task latency and energy consumption by 35% and 22.2%, respectively. Additionally, resource utilization also experiences a boost by 28.57%, and 97.98% of tasks complete their execution within the deadlines.

Li-Fi is another term for Visible light communication (VLC) which operates by transmitting data through free space by using eith er Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) or Laser Diodes (LDs). The technique finds substantial applications in scientific research as we ll as military applications when used underwater. VLC technology helps eliminate radio interference alongside providing replacement solutions for traditional underwater communication systems. The research develops and models a visible light wireless communication system through ambient light testing with two 550 nm and 450 nm LD light sources and Pin photodetector over 10 meters using Opti System software. The system uses Non-Return-to-Zero On-Off Keying (NRZ OOK) also known as Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) modulation through Mach-Zehnder Modulator with WDM technology in NLOS environment. A 10 Gbps data transmission occurs through the clear ocean environment along a 10-meter channel with 0.0405 1/m absorption and 0.0025 1/m scattering. The 550 nm transmitted source emits its maximum Quality factor as 8.35 when BER analyzers operate under ambient light conditions and produce its minimum BER as 4.89e-11 under the same conditions. Examining similar ambient light influences reveals the BER analyzers demonstrate a maximum Quality factor of 8.62 and minimum BER of 18.11e-12 when operating under 450 nm transmitted light.

Recently, adversarial attacks against machine learning-based network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) have gained significant attention in cybersecurity. This study investigates the transferability of these adversarial attacks in the context of NIDS. In addition, most existing studies in adversarial learning against NIDS adopted attack strategies designed originally for image classification without considering network traffic characteristics. However, this is impractical and will fail in the real world as network traffic features are constrained, and ignoring the functional behavior of the network traffic features leads to invalid network traffic flow or produces adversarial samples that do not retain their original functionality (malicious or benign). To address these issues, we propose a constrained momentum iterative fast gradient sign method (C-MIFGSM) to generate adversarial network flows that can successfully evade an ML-based IDS through transfer-based attacks while preserving the functional behavior of the network traffic. Our approach was validated using several target NIDS models built with the NSLKDD benchmark dataset. Experimental results demonstrate that even without knowledge of the target model and under feature constraints, it is possible to generate adversarial network traffic flows that achieve a high evasion attack success rate against NIDS built with deep learning and classical ML models. For example, the attack degraded the detection rate of the DoS traffic drops from 92.35% to 20.27% for the MLP model with an evasion increase rate of 78.04%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This paper presents analytic study and design considerations of flat wire inductors with distributed gaps for high-power and compact DC-DC Converters. The focus is eddy-current loss components within the conductors due to fringing and leakage fluxes. A magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) is proposed in which eddy currents are modeled by MMFs opposing the primary flux as well as frequency dependent reluctances, which finally leads to a frequency dependent inductance describing the behavior of the inductor at high frequencies. Three formulations for DC resistance depending on the required accuracy are developed. Calculations of the AC resistance based on vector potential obtained from FEM are provided. To provide an insight into the optimized design of such inductors, components of the magnetic flux and induced eddy currents along with sensitivity of the main inductor quantities such as DCR, ESR, loss components and inductance values to the design parameters are investigated. Finally, an inductor is prototyped and experimentally tested to verify the design.

High-quality medical microscopic images used for diseases detection are expensive and difficult to ***,low-resolution images are favorable due to their low storage space and ease of sharing,where the images can be enlarged when needed using Super-Resolution(SR)***,it is important to maintain the shape and size of the medical images while enlarging *** of the problems facing SR is that the performance of medical image diagnosis is very poor due to the deterioration of the reconstructed image ***,this paper suggests a multi-SR and classification framework based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)to generate high-resolution images with higher quality and finer details to reduce *** proposed framework comprises five GAN models:Enhanced SR Generative Adversarial Networks(ESRGAN),Enhanced deep SR GAN(EDSRGAN),Sub-Pixel-GAN,SRGAN,and Efficient Wider Activation-B GAN(WDSR-b-GAN).To train the proposed models,we have employed images from the famous BreakHis dataset and enlarged them by 4×and 16×upscale factors with the ground truth of the size of 256×256×***,several evaluation metrics like Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Mean Squared Error(MSE),Structural Similarity Index(SSIM),Multiscale Structural Similarity Index(MS-SSIM),and histogram are applied to make comprehensive and objective comparisons to determine the best methods in terms of efficiency,training time,and storage *** obtained results reveal the superiority of the proposed models over traditional and benchmark models in terms of color and texture restoration and detection by achieving an accuracy of 99.7433%.
