The burgeoning volume of parameters in artificial neural network models has posed substantial challenges to conventional tensor computing *** from the available optical multidimensional information entropy,optical intelligent computing is used as an alternative solution to address the emerging challenges of electrical *** limitations,in terms of device size and photonic integration scale,have hindered the performance of optical ***,an ultrahigh computing density optical tensor processing unit(OTPU),which is grounded in an individual microring resonator(MRR),is introduced to respond to these *** the independent tuning of multiwavelength lasers,the operational capabilities of an MRR are orchestrated,culminating in the formation of an optical tensor *** design facilitates the execution of tensor convolution operations via the lightwave and microwave multidomain hybrid multiplexing in terms of the time,wavelength,and frequency of *** experimental results for the MRR-based OTPU show an extraordinary computing density of 34.04 TOPS/***,the achieved accuracy rate in recognizing MNIST handwritten digits was 96.41%.These outcomes signify a significant advancement toward the realization of high-performance optical tensor processing chips.

This article introduces a recursive parallel dynamic mode decomposition (RPDMD) scheme tailored for multidimensional harmonic retrieval (MHR), specifically applied to MIMO wireless channel sounding. The RPDMD algorithm is devised to address the complexities inherent in multidimensional scenarios, leveraging the dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) framework within a recursive parallel structure. Initially, the observed tensorial multidimensional harmonic data is transformed into a 2-D matrix format along the rth dimension. Subsequently, DMD dissects this matrix data into eigenvalues and their associated modes. The real and imaginary components of the DMD eigenvalues yield damping factors and frequencies in the rth dimension, respectively. Furthermore, recursive DMD is employed to scrutinize each mode independently for parameter retrieval across the remaining dimensions, enabling parallel analysis. Ultimately, this high-dimensional correlated decomposition scheme delivers paired damping factors and frequencies for all tones. Notably, the proposed approach can ascertain the number of tones in undamped sinusoidal signals, making it particularly suitable for MHR even without prior knowledge of the source count. Numerical experiments demonstrate the accuracy and robustness of the RPDMD scheme, with comparative analysis indicating that RPDMD outperforms similar methods, achieving optimal results with minimal mean square error in high signal-to-noise ratio scenarios. This work presents an effective data-driven solution for the MHR problem in MIMO wireless channel sounding. © 2014 IEEE.

While recent years have witnessed the advancement in big data and Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is of much importance to safeguard data privacy and security. As an innovative approach, Federated Learning (FL) addresses these concerns by facilitating collaborative model training across distributed data sources without transferring raw data. However, the challenges of robust security and privacy across decentralized networks catch significant attention in dealing with the distributed data in FL. In this paper, we conduct an extensive survey of the security and privacy issues prevalent in FL, underscoring the vulnerability of communication links and the potential for cyber threats. We delve into various defensive strategies to mitigate these risks, explore the applications of FL across different sectors, and propose research directions. We identify the intricate security challenges that arise within the FL frameworks, aiming to contribute to the development of secure and efficient FL systems. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Model predictive control (MPC) is an optimal control technique which involves solving a sequence of constrained optimization problems across a given time horizon. In this paper, we introduce a category theoretic framework for constructing complex MPC problem formulations by composing subproblems. Specifically, we construct a monoidal category - called Para(Conv) - whose objects are Euclidean spaces and whose morphisms represent constrained convex optimization problems. We then show that the multistage structure of typical MPC problems arises from sequential composition in Para(Conv), while parallel composition can be used to model constraints across multiple stages of the prediction horizon. This framework comes equipped with a rigorous, diagrammatic syntax, allowing for easy visualization and modification of complex problems. Finally, we show how this framework allows a simple software realization in the Julia programming language by integrating with existing mathematical programming libraries to provide high-level, graphical abstractions for MPC.

This paper presents an Active Search policy that balances between moving the camera and removing occluding objects to search for and retrieve a target object in clutter. While both types of action can reveal unobserved parts of a scene, they typically vary in execution complexity and time. Our proposed method explicitly reasons about the occluded spaces in the scene where the target object may be hidden, and uses reinforcement learning to compute the value of each action with the ultimate goal of finding and retrieving the target object in minimal time. Results in simulation and real-world experiments demonstrate a significant improvement in both task execution speed and success rate compared to baseline grasping strategies.

This paper explores the potential of MultiModal Large Language Models (MM-LLMs) in automating grading processes in GUI design courses. We introduce a novel approach in using MM-LLMs to conduct pairwise comparisons rather than assigning direct numerical grades, aiming to enhance grading objectivity and efficiency. Preliminary results indicate that multimodal LLMs (such as OpenAI GPT-4o) can successfully identify superior designs when presented in pairs, suggesting a potential for a scalable and less biased grading system that could benefit both the educators and the students by providing timely and consistent feedback.

The electrical energy is basic necessity for daily operations. Therefore, its efficient and intelligent management is required. However, the utilities require rapid and efficient decision-making which depends on efficient load forecasting models. The existing load forecasting models stand obsolete in the dynamic environments, where rapid decisions are required;based on online data streams. The online data streams in electrical environment comprise of different generation modalities and consist of different variations (concept drift) in pattern, parameter, and modalities. Therefore, this study explores the possible concept drift scenarios in electrical load forecasting with different generation modalities and provide a framework to resolve the issue. © 2022 IEEE.

The new generation of aircraft will experience increasing electrical power demands because of the more electric trends and advances in recent years. Adopting higher voltage levels is widely discussed for More Electric Aircraft (MEA) Power Distribution Systems (PDSs) to efficiently deliver the increased power ratings and reduce the system weight. However, higher voltage levels also indicate the risk of electrical insulation failures. Hence, it is essential to select optimised voltage levels for onboard PDSs considering the trade-offs. In addition, the relationship between the PDS weight/efficiency and voltage levels is complex rather than linear, resulting in infeasibility issues when optimising voltage levels. This study proposes a voltage optimisation method based on selecting among a set of components, i.e., converters and cables, for onboard DC PDSs. Moreover, to improve feasibility, the Integrated Converter Component (ICC) concept is proposed to combine each converter with its lightest input/output cables as an integrated block. Hence, the optimal bus voltages can be decided by selecting the lightest and most efficient ICCs while meeting the power delivery and voltage conversion requirements.

This paper addresses the challenge of ensuring safety and feasibility in control systems using Control Barrier Functions (CBFs). Existing CBF-based Quadratic Programs (CBF-QPs) often encounter feasibility issues due to mixed relative degree constraints, input nullification problems, and the presence of tight or time-varying control bounds, which can lead to infeasible solutions and compromised safety. To address these challenges, we propose Auxiliary-Variable Adaptive Control Barrier Functions (AVCBFs), a novel framework that introduces auxiliary variables in auxiliary functions to dynamically adjust CBF constraints without the need of excessive additional constraints. The AVCBF method ensures that all components of the control input explicitly appear in the desired-order safety constraint, thereby improving feasibility while maintaining safety guarantees. Additionally, we introduce an automatic tuning method that iteratively adjusts AVCBF hyperparameters to ensure feasibility and safety with less conservatism. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in adaptive cruise control and obstacle avoidance scenarios, showing that AVCBFs outperform existing CBF methods by reducing infeasibility and enhancing adaptive safety control under tight or time-varying control bounds. This paper presents an innovative control strategy to enhance the stability of interconnected Microgrids (MGs) with low inertia and high penetration levels of Renewable Energies (REs). The proposed control strategy encompasses a new virtual droop control mechanism that emulates the primary control of synchronous generators for enhanced system stability. Additionally, a weighted Proportional-Integral (PI) controller is used to mitigate the adverse effects of measurement delays caused by Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) dynamics. Furthermore, a feedback integral loop is introduced to improve the efficiency and lifespan of Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs) enabling swift and precise power delivery while reducing steadystate errors. Finally, a new fractional-order virtual inertia control (VIC) is introduced to leverage the fractional derivatives and enhance the system’s frequency response. The presented simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach in improving the frequency response and power exchange dynamics across interconnected MGs under various operating scenarios.
