Although multispectral pedestrian detection studies have shown remarkable detection performances, they are still vulnerable to adversarial attacks. We see the similarity relations between object candidates were not maintained because of the adversarial attacks, resulting in performance degradation. In this paper, we introduce a new method that can preserve the similarity relation between candidates against adversarial attacks using multispectral knowledge. First, we propose Similarity Relation Generation (SRG) module to generate the optimal similarity relation between clean candidates by referring to the two modalities (color and thermal). Second, we propose Adversarial Similarity Relation Preserving (ASRP) module to guide the similarity relation between adversarial candidates to be similar to that of the clean candidates. By maintaining the relationship between candidates, our multispectral detector can distinguish between pedestrian/background classes even in adversarial attacks. Comprehensive experimental results show that our method conspicuously improves the adversarial robustness. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a joint design of probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) and precoding to enhance the sum-rate performance of multi-user visible light communications (VLC) broadcast channels subject to signal amplitude constraint. In the proposed design, the transmission probabilities of bipolar M-pulse amplitude modulation (M-PAM) symbols for each user and the transmit precoding matrix are jointly optimized to improve the sum-rate performance. The joint design problem is shown to be a complex non-convex problem due to the non-convexity of the objective function. To tackle the problem, the firefly algorithm (FA), a nature-inspired heuristic optimization approach, is employed to solve a local optima to the original non-convex optimization problem. The FA-based approach, however, suffers from high computational complexity. Therefore, we propose a low-complexity design based on zero-forcing (ZF) precoding, which is solved using an alternating optimization (AO) approach. Simulation results reveal that the proposed joint design with PCS significantly improves the sum-rate performance compared to the conventional design with uniform signaling. Some insights into the optimal symbol distributions of the two joint design approaches are also provided. © 2024 IEEE.

Brain tumor significantly impacts the quality of life and changes everything for a patient and their loved *** a brain tumor usually begins with magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).The manual brain tumor diagnosis from the MRO images always requires an expert ***,this process is time-consuming and ***,a computerized technique is required for brain tumor detection in MRI *** the MRI,a novel mechanism of the three-dimensional(3D)Kronecker convolution feature pyramid(KCFP)is used to segment brain tumors,resolving the pixel loss and weak processing of multi-scale lesions.A single dilation rate was replaced with the 3D Kronecker convolution,while local feature learning was performed using the 3D Feature Selection(3DFSC).A 3D KCFP was added at the end of 3DFSC to resolve weak processing of multi-scale lesions,yielding efficient segmentation of brain tumors of different sizes.A 3D connected component analysis with a global threshold was used as a post-processing *** standard Multimodal Brain Tumor Segmentation 2020 dataset was used for model *** 3D KCFP model performed exceptionally well compared to other benchmark schemes with a dice similarity coefficient of 0.90,0.80,and 0.84 for the whole tumor,enhancing tumor,and tumor core,***,the proposed model was efficient in brain tumor segmentation,which may facilitate medical practitioners for an appropriate diagnosis for future treatment planning.

AKDC: Ambiguous Kernel Distance Clustering Algorithm for COVID-19 CT Scans Analysis

Conventional soft clustering algorithms perform well on linearly distributed features, but their performance degrades on nonlinearly distributed features in high-dimensional space. In this study, a novel soft clustering algorithm, the ambiguous kernel distance clustering (AKDC) algorithm, is presented. This algorithm is developed by applying ambiguous set theory and the Gaussian kernel function. The ambiguous set theory defines the ambiguities inherent in each feature with four membership values: 1) true;2) false;3) true-ambiguous;and 4) false-ambiguous. The degree of membership values here forms a low-dimensional feature space that is not linearly distributed. Therefore, these nonlinearly distributed membership values are mapped into a high-dimensional feature space using the Gaussian kernel function. This study focuses on performing cluster analysis of computerized tomography scans of COVID-19 (CTSC-19) cases using AKDC. COVID-19, recognized as one of the most life-threatening diseases of this century, is highly contagious, and early diagnosis may prevent one-to-one transmission. Extensive empirical studies have been conducted with different types of CTSC-19 to demonstrate its effectiveness against existing kernel-based clustering and nonkernel-based clustering algorithms, namely mercer kernel fuzzy c-mean (MKFCM), kernel generalized FCM (KGFCM), kernel intuitionistic fuzzy entropy c-means (KIFECMs), morphological reconstruction and membership filtering clustering (FRFCM), and intuitionistic FCM based on membership information transferring and similarity measurements (IFCM-MS). The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to the existing algorithms is evaluated using standard statistical metrics, such as dice index (DI), Jaccard index (JI), structural similarity index (SI), and correlation coefficient (CC). The empirical results show that AKDC is more effective than existing algorithms based on DI, JI, SI, and CC. © 2013 IEEE.

In the last few decades, metaheuristic algorithms that use the laws of nature have been used dramatically in numerous and complex optimization problems. The artificial hummingbird algorithm (AHA) is one of the metaheuristic algorithms that was invented in 2022 based on the foraging and migration behavior of the hummingbird for modeling and solving optimization problems. The algorithm initially starts with an initial random population of solutions. It then uses iterative processes and hummingbird position updates to balance exploration and exploitation toward the most optimal solutions. This paper has a detailed and extensive review of the AHA algorithm considering the aspects of hybrid, improved, binary, multi-objective, and optimization problems. In addition, a wide range of applications of AHA in various fields such as feature selection, image processing, scheduling, Internet of Things, classification, clustering, financial and economic issues, forecasting, wireless sensor networks, and many engineering challenges are explored. The statistical and numerical results showed that the AHA algorithm with deep learning methods, Levy flight, and opposition-based learning had the best performance. Also, the AHA algorithm is most widely used in solving multimodal optimization problems and continuous functions. © The Author(s) under exclusive licence to International Center for Numerical Methods in engineering (CIMNE) 2024.

A substitution box(S-Box)is a crucial component of contemporary cryptosystems that provide data protection in block *** the moment,chaotic maps are being created and extensively used to generate these SBoxes as a chaotic map assists in providing disorder and resistance to combat cryptanalytical *** this paper,the construction of a dynamic S-Box using a cipher key is proposed using a novel chaotic map and an innovative tweaking *** projected chaotic map and the proposed tweak approach are presented for the first time and the use of parameters in their workingmakes both of these dynamic in *** tweak approach employs cubic polynomials while permuting the values of an initial S-Box to enhance its cryptographic *** of the parameters are provided using the cipher key and a small variation in values of these parameters results in a completely different unique *** analysis and exploration confirmed that the projected chaoticmap exhibits a significant amount of chaotic *** security assessment in terms of bijectivity,nonlinearity,bits independence,strict avalanche,linear approximation probability,and differential probability criteria are utilized to critically investigate the effectiveness of the proposed S-Box against several *** proposed S-Box’s cryptographic performance is comparable to those of recently projected S-Boxes for its adaption in real-world security *** comparative scrutiny pacifies the genuine potential of the proposed S-Box in terms of its applicability for data security.

The pervasiveness of GPS-equipped smart devices and the accompanying deployment of sensing technologies generates increasingly massive amounts of trajectory data that cover applications such as personalized location recommendation and urban transportation planning. Trajectory recovery is of utmost importance for incomplete trajectories (resulted from the constraints of devices and environment) to enable their completeness and reliability. To achieve effective trajectory recovery, we propose a novel trajectory recovery framework, namely Deep Trajectory Recovery with enhanced trajectory Similarity (SimiDTR), which is capable of contending with the complex mobility regularity found in trajectories in continuous space. In particular, we design a rule-based information extractor to extract the spatial information related to an incomplete trajectory, which is then fed into a deep model based on attention mechanism to generate a tailored similar trajectory for the incomplete trajectory. Finally, we use a deep neural network model to recover the incomplete trajectory with the blessing of its similar trajectory. An extensive empirical study with real data offers evidence that the framework is able to advance the state of the art in terms of effectiveness for trajectory recovery, especially in scenes with sparse trajectory data. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In recent years, the accident rates remain high in the construction industry, and the construction safety is a matter of great concern worldwide. An intelligent and efficient incremental detector that can accurately detect whether the workers properly wear labor protection products, such as Safety helmet, safety belt, reflective clothing, is crucial for construction safety. Currently, the most advanced incremental detectors mostly adopt external fixed region proposal methods based on knowledge distillation, which require a lot of time and cost. Due to the lack of annotations for old categories and region proposal information in single-stage detectors, the detectors usually identify old category targets as background, leading to catastrophic forgetting. To address the above problems, this paper proposes a data label merging algorithm, which uses the detection results of the old model and existing data labels to generate merged labels for training, which compensates for the missing annotations of old category targets in the new dataset and mitigates catastrophic forgetting. At the same time, a recent mean-based exemplar selection algorithm is proposed to select representative samples stored in the old dataset, and this representative sample set will be used for model training to help the model resist forgetting. This method has been implemented in a single-stage detection framework, and its effectiveness has been verified on the LPAD (labor Protection Appliance-Dataset) dataset. Our proposed method improves the average precision score (mAP) of old categories and total categories detections by 6.9% and 6.0% respectively compared with the current state-of-the-art method. The merged labels and representative samples obtained from the proposed method effectively alleviate the forgetting problem. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In narrow spaces, motion planning based on the traditional hierarchical autonomous system could cause collisions due to mapping, localization, and control noises, especially for car-like Ackermann-steering robots which suffer from non-convex and non-holonomic kinematics. To tackle these problems, we leverage deep reinforcement learning which is verified to be effective in self-decision-making, to self-explore in narrow spaces without a given map and destination while avoiding collisions. Specifically, based on our Ackermann-steering rectangular-shaped ZebraT robot and its Gazebo simulator, we propose the rectangular safety region to represent states and detect collisions for rectangular-shaped robots, and a carefully crafted reward function for reinforcement learning that does not require the waypoint guidance. For validation, the robot was first trained in a simulated narrow track. Then, the well-trained model was transferred to other simulation tracks and could outperform other traditional methods including classical and learning methods.
