Automated trust negotiation (ATN) is an important means to establish trust between strangers through the exchange of digital credentials and access control policies specifying what credentials a stranger must submit in the open and distributed environment. While ATN brings convenience, there are still two issues unsolved successfully: 1) to protect the transmitting message; 2) to prevent the sensitive information leakage. Hidden credential can provide high security level to protect sensitive resources, policies and credentials from being attacked. Zero-knowledge is an important means to avoid leakage and can be used to protect the user's private context and sensitive information from unauthorized inferences. If hidden credentials and zero-knowledge are well-combined and redesigned, they can jointly make ATN better. Based on these, a hidden credential based oblivious automated trust negotiation model (HBOA) is proposed in this paper. In the model, the negotiation information is carried by hidden credentials, which have the same secure level with elliptic curve. Zero-knowledge protocol is provided by Pedersen commitment scheme, which ensures that no sensitive information can be attained by authorized users. A practical example is given to prove its usability.

In this paper, we propose a scalable service scheme for secure group communication in grid. In the service scheme, a series of methods and strategies are presented, such as the initialization methods for group member, administrative domain and virtual organization, the key distribution strategy and the rekeying strategy. In order to improve the scalability of this service scheme, the services for a group are logically divided into two hierarchical levels, which is in accordance with the characteristics of group communication in grid. In addition, in order to show the efficiency and the scalability of the service scheme, simulation experiments are done. The results show that the service scheme is efficient and scalable. Thus, the service scheme can satisfy the requirement of people in large-scale, dynamic grid environment.

It is still a challenging task to provide large scale video-on-demand (VoD) streaming services based on overlay network due to its inherent dynamicity and heterogeneity. Most of previous work has focused on how to construct a structured overlay to tackle this issue, i.e., tree-based overlay and DHT. However, they always suffer from inefficient resource utilization and poor reliability. In this paper, we propose a new solution based on unstructured overlay, called gridCast, in which a directional gossip protocol and a score-based partner selection algorithm are designed to explore multiple data suppliers for each joined peer. In this way, gridCast can make efficient use of the available upload bandwidth of peers to achieve better scalability and reliability. The experimental results from our early deployment show that it is feasible to provide scalable VoD services based on unstructured overlay.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks have been shown to be a promising approach to provide large-scale Video on Demand (VoD) services over Internet for its potential high scalability. However, for a normal peer,how to efficiently schedule media data to multiple asynchronous peers for VoD services in such networks remains a major challenge. Hereby we propose a hybrid scheduling scheme for data dissemination in P2P VoD system in this paper, called OCTOPUS,which is combined with adaptive scheduling scheme at normal time and special scheduling strategy emergently. Usually each peer is given a value,meaning scheduling bandwidth to represent service capacity, which is an integrated evaluation for peer's bandwidth and services ability, also including statistical characteristics about historical data transferring. According to the value, one peer can adjust the expectation of each neighbor's abilities and send scheduling request of media data to all *** case of failure scheduling, emergent scheduling scheme will be called and limited data requests will be sent to media servers. OCTOPUS scheme helps to make sufficient utilization of end-peers' resource,alleviate the load of source server and improve their scalability. Experimental result from a P2P VoD system, gridCast, based on OCTOPUS schemes,shows that OCTOPUS achieves obvious effect.

To promote peer-to-peer (P2P) based high performance computing (HPC), new scheduling strategies are necessarily designed to break the limitation in current systems, which only support applications with independent tasks. Therefore, we introduce a negotiated coscheduling policy, which supports applications with interactive tasks in a structured P2P based HPC platform, P2HP-2. In this policy, with the help of a project description file, a negotiated dispatching metric with two priorityentitling algorithms is proposed, which distributes tasks across computing resources. The coscheduling is further processed with two steps: spinning for dependent data and performing tasks' ***, a reliable message-event transmission method and a load balancer are developed to improve the performance. All our preliminary results show that this scheduling policy is efficient and fault-tolerant to support applications with task-dependent relationships.

VCA (virtual client access) based grid information integration strategy is proposed in this paper that brings forward one efficient application framework with loosely coupled architecture. It encapsulates the virtual clients that are realized based on the API of the information systems as grid services to enable the grid can access the information systems as real client. VCA mode can be combined with local access control and task management seamlessly, and solve the resource conflicts between grid and local users so as to support the information sharing and cooperation widely and efficiently. The experiment shows that VCA modes can support the information sharing and cooperation widely and efficiently.

Welcome to the proceedings of GCC2004 and the city of Wuhan. grid computing has become a mainstream research area in computer science and the GCC conference has become one of the premier forums for presentation of new and exciting research in all aspectsofgridandcooperativecomputing. Theprogramcommitteeispleasedtopresent the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on grid and Cooperative Comp- ing (GCC2004), which comprises a collection of excellent technical papers, posters, workshops, and keynote speeches. The papers accepted cover a wide range of exciting topics, including resource grid and service grid, information grid and knowledge grid, grid monitoring,managementand organizationtools, grid portal, grid service, Web s- vices and their QoS, service orchestration, grid middleware and toolkits, software glue technologies, grid security, innovative grid applications, advanced resource reservation andscheduling,performanceevaluationandmodeling,computer-supportedcooperative work, P2P computing, automatic computing, and meta-information management. The conference continues to grow and this year a record total of 581 manuscripts (including workshop submissions) were submitted for consideration. Expecting this growth, the size of the program committee was increased from 50 members for GCC 2003 for 70 in GCC 2004. Relevant differences from previous editions of the conf- ence: it is worth mentioning a signi?cant increase in the number of papers submitted by authors from outside China; and the acceptance rate was much lower than for p- vious GCC conferences. From the 427 papers submitted to the main conference, the program committee selected only 96 regular papers for oral presentation and 62 short papers for poster presentation in the program.

These proceedings contain the papers presented at the 2005 IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel computing (NPC 2005), held in Beijing, China, between November 30 and December 3, 2005. The goal of the conference was to establish an international forum for engineers and scientists to present their ideas and experiences in network and parallel computing. A total of 320 submissions were received in response to our Call for Papers. These papers were from the following countries or regions: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lux- burg, Nepal, Netherlands, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, and United States. Each submission was sent to at least three *** paper was judged - cording to its originality, innovation, readability, and relevance to the expected ***,atotalof68paperswereretainedfor- clusionin *** the 68 papers,48 wereacceptedasfull papers for presentation at the conference. We also accepted 20 papers as short papers for a possible brief presentation at the conference, followed by discussion during a poster session. Thus, only 21% of the total submissions could be included in the ?nal program.

AMSPM: Adaptive Model Selection and Partition Mechanism for Edge Intelligence-driven 5G Smart City with Dynamic computing Resources

With the help of 5G network, edge intelligence (EI) can not only provide distributed, low-latency, and high-reliable intelligent services, but also enable intelligent maintenance and management of smart city. However, the constantly changing available computing resources of end devices and edge servers cannot continuously guarantee the performance of intelligent inference. In order to guarantee the sustainability of intelligent services in smart city, we propose the Adaptive Model Selection and Partition Mechanism (AMSPM) in 5G smart city where EI provides services, which mainly consists of Adaptive Model Selection (AMS) and Adaptive Model Partition (AMP). In AMSPM, the model selection and partition of deep neural network (DNN) are formulated as an optimization problem. Firstly, we propose a recursive-based algorithm named AMS based on the computing resources of edge devices to derive an appropriate DNN model that satisfies the latency demand of intelligent services. Then, we adaptively partition the selected DNN model according to the computing resources of edge devices. The experimental results demonstrate that, when compared with state-of-the-art model selection and partition mechanisms, AMSPM not only reduces latency but also enhances computing resource utilization.
