With the development of grid technology, grid gains more popularity that ever and a variety of grid middlewares come into being. However, most of grid middlewares are developed by their own, and it's not easy to interoperate these grid platforms. Existing grid interoperability projects mainly resorts to case-by-case mechanism, which is simple but of poor scalability. Job management is the core and the most complex components of grid system. To realize the interoperability of heterogeneous grids, the interoperation of heterogeneous job managements must be addressed In the paper, a plugin based job interoperation mechanism for heterogeneous grid systems, called PBJIM, is proposed, which is based on the idea of virtualization and plug-in *** are two well-established grid systems in China,Chinagrid and China National grid, and they are built with two different grid middlewares, CGSP and VEGA. Via PBJIM, the interoperation of job management of these two grid systems is achieved.

To promote peer-to-peer (P2P) based high performance computing (HPC), new scheduling strategies are necessarily designed to break the limitation in current systems, which only support applications with independent tasks. Therefore, we introduce a negotiated coscheduling policy, which supports applications with interactive tasks in a structured P2P based HPC platform, P2HP-2. In this policy, with the help of a project description file, a negotiated dispatching metric with two priorityentitling algorithms is proposed, which distributes tasks across computing resources. The coscheduling is further processed with two steps: spinning for dependent data and performing tasks' ***, a reliable message-event transmission method and a load balancer are developed to improve the performance. All our preliminary results show that this scheduling policy is efficient and fault-tolerant to support applications with task-dependent relationships.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks have been shown to be a promising approach to provide large-scale Video on Demand (VoD) services over Internet for its potential high scalability. However, for a normal peer,how to efficiently schedule media data to multiple asynchronous peers for VoD services in such networks remains a major challenge. Hereby we propose a hybrid scheduling scheme for data dissemination in P2P VoD system in this paper, called OCTOPUS,which is combined with adaptive scheduling scheme at normal time and special scheduling strategy emergently. Usually each peer is given a value,meaning scheduling bandwidth to represent service capacity, which is an integrated evaluation for peer's bandwidth and services ability, also including statistical characteristics about historical data transferring. According to the value, one peer can adjust the expectation of each neighbor's abilities and send scheduling request of media data to all *** case of failure scheduling, emergent scheduling scheme will be called and limited data requests will be sent to media servers. OCTOPUS scheme helps to make sufficient utilization of end-peers' resource,alleviate the load of source server and improve their scalability. Experimental result from a P2P VoD system, gridCast, based on OCTOPUS schemes,shows that OCTOPUS achieves obvious effect.

grid computing is becoming more and more attractive for coordinating large-scale heterogeneous resource sharing and problem solving. Of particular interest for effective grid computing is a software provisioning mechanism. We propose a highly available dynamic deployment infrastructure, HAND, based on the Java Web services core of Globus toolkit 4. HAND provides capability, availability, and extensibility for dynamic deployment of Java Web services in dynamic grid environments. We identify the factors that have impact to dynamic deployment in static and dynamic environments. We also present the design, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of two different approaches to dynamic deployment (service level and container level), and examine the performance of alternative data transfer protocol for service implementations. Our results demonstrate that HAND can deliver significantly improved availability and performance relative to other approaches

It now becomes a trend to implement the interconnections between resources as well as services in ubiquitous systems. Attribute-based authorization mechanisms, protocols and systems are gaining in popularity, such as SAML, XACML, Shibboleth, etc. However, their management efficiency could be further improved. The Role-based Access Control (RBAC) mechanism is widely accepted as a general mechanism for authorization management. However, RBAC is still not flexible enough to address various application scenarios in ubiquitous systems. We propose a new architecture for access control in ubiquitous systems that impose attribute and status constraints on the RBAC model, which can significantly enhance the generality and flexibility of authorization by integrating the advantages of RBAC and attributed- based access control models. Moreover, the state mechanism proposed in this architecture captures the states of the authorization elements so as to reflect the outcomes of the authorization control. Finally, we analyze the flexibility and generality of this architecture in ubiquitous systems.

This paper extends the environment for open distributed real-time systems, where hard or soft real-time applications may run concurrently with non-real-time applications. We replace the top-level improved constant utilization server scheduler of the open system architecture in with variable utilization server scheduler. The proposed open real-time environment in this paper allows tasks in each application to share local and global nonpreemptive resources, which accommodates a much broader spectrum of real-time applications. Additionally, the extended environment assigns CPU bandwidth to each server in a more flexible and more adaptive way. The evaluation results show the performance of the open system is also improved considerably

In a grid workflow, data transfer scheme plays a key role on its performance. In most grid projects, data is transferred between source and destination directly in the traditional way, without considering the status of network. In this paper, we present a data transfer scheme of grid workflow based on weighted directed graph. The scheme selects data transfer model according to the job's data processing rate. Based on the different bandwidths between grid nodes, it builds a weighted directed graph to select a best transfer path. Simulation results show that the scheme can effectively improve the performance of grid workflows. © 2006 IEEE.

Workflow management technologies play a very important role in constructing grid application environment by automating service composition and execution. With the fast spread of grid technology, workflow management system should be flexible to meet increasing requirements of service composition. This paper introduces a distributed workflow management approach DWM4CGSP named distributed workflow management for CGSP, which can improve capability of workflow execution by dynamically assimilating new workflow engines and balancing workload among these engines. Moreover dynamic load balancing is applied in DWM4CGSP in order to make workload on each engine at reasonable level. Finally an implementation demonstrates that DWM4CGSP works well in CGSP and can be further extended to other similar grids

Data replication is one of the key components in data grid architecture as it enhances data access and reliability and minimises the cost of data transmission. In this paper, we address the problem of reducing the overheads of the replication mechanisms that drive the data management components of a data grid. We propose an approach that extends the resource broker with policies that factor in user quality of service as well as service costs when replicating and transferring data. A realistic model of the data grid was created to simulate and explore the performance of the proposed policy. The policy displayed an effective means of improving the performance of the grid network traffic and is indicated by the improvement of speed and cost of transfers by brokers.
