Email has been an efficient and popular communication mechanism as the number of Internet user's increase. In many security informatics applications it is important to detect deceptive communication in email. This paper proposes to apply Association Rule Mining for Suspected Email Detection. (Emails about Criminal activities).Deception theory suggests that deceptive writing is characterized by reduced frequency of first person pronouns and exclusive words and elevated frequency of negative emotion words and action verbs . We apply this model of deception to the set of Email dataset, then applied Apriori algorithm to generate the rules The rules generated are used to test the email as deceptive or not. In particular we are interested in detecting emails about criminal activities. After classification we must be able to differentiate the emails giving information about past criminal activities(Informative email) and those acting as alerts(warnings) for the future criminal activities. This differentiation is done using the features considering the tense used in the emails. Experimental results show that simple Associative classifier provides promising detection rates.

Nowadays, the requirement of Internet is increasing in more and more heterogeneous scenarios; especially in mobile platforms, such as Planes, trains and buses. NEMOWG (network mobility workging group) a new working group in IETF (Internet engineering Task Force) is formed to provide mechanisms to manage the mobility of a network as a whole, enabling that network to change its point of attachment to an IP-based fixed infrastructure without disturbing the ongoing communications or sessions. This article describes the IPv6 Network Mobility (NEMO) basic support protocol, analysis its limitation and suggesting a solution for one of the problem.

In this paper, we propose a new radar tracking algorithm based on the Gaussian sum filter. To alleviate the computational burden associated with the Gaussian sum filter, we have developed a new systematic and efficient way to approximate a non-Gaussian and measurement-dependent function by a weighted sum of Gaussian density functions and we have also suggested a way to alleviate the growing memory problem inherited in the Gaussian sum filter. Our method is compared with the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the converted measurement Kalman filter (CMKF) and it is shown to be more accurate in term of position and velocity errors.

Machine Learning has traditionally been a topic of research and instruction in computer science and computer engineering programs. Yet, due to its wide applicability in a variety of fields, its research use has expanded in other disciplines, such as electrical engineering, industrial engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. Currently, many undergraduate and first-year graduate students in the aforementioned fields do not have exposure to recent research trends in Machine Learning. This paper reports on a project in progress, funded by the National science Foundation under the program Combined Research and Curriculum Development (CRCD), whose goal is to remedy this shortcoming. The project involves the development of a model for the integration of Machine Learning into the undergraduate curriculum of those engineering and science disciplines mentioned above. The goal is increased exposure to Machine Learning technology for a wider range of students in science and engineering than is currently available. Our approach of integrating Machine Learning research into the curriculum involves two components. The first component is the incorporation of Machine Learning modules into the first two years of the curriculum with the goal of sparking student interest in the field. The second is the development of new upper level Machine Learning courses for advanced undergraduate students. The paper will describe the first phase of the project, that of the integration of Machine Learning concepts into introductory engineering and science programming courses through appropriately designed programming projects.

In this paper, we present a method for modeling an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal using time-varying parameters by considering that the signal is generated by a linear, time-varying (LTV) system with a stationary white noise input, then we estimate the time-varying coefficients of the LTV system. Since the ECG signal is considered to be non-stationary, this method is based on the Wold-Cramer representation of a non-stationary signal. Because the relationship between the generalized transfer function of an LTV system and the time-varying coefficients of the difference equation of a discrete-time system is not addressed so far in literature, in this paper we propose a solution to this problem and apply it for modeling a human ECG signal. We first derive a relationship between the system generalized transfer function and the time-varying parameters of the system. Then we develop an algorithm to solve for the system time-varying parameters from the time-frequency kernel of the system output using the time-varying auto-correlation function (TVACF). A comparison analysis between the proposed algorithm and the RLS and RLSL algorithms has been discussed. computer simulations illustrating the effectiveness of our algorithm are presented when the signal is embedded in noise.

This paper describes the importance of the alternate learning approach, which is Web-based course delivery in the engineering Management (EM) program in the coll.ge of engineering and computer science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). The EM program at UTC rests on the principles of bridging the gap between engineering and business. This program provides a vide variety of aspects in engineering management such as quality, reliability, product design, human resources, cost analysis, technology, and strategy. The program has a high demand from engineers who are currently working in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. However, increasing work demands, necessity for travel, and/or relocation and job changes prevalent in the business environment make participation more and more difficult for individuals. Therefore, the EM program wants to offer an alternate and innovative learning environment for those individuals who want to enroll in this program.

In this paper, we propose image enhancement of microarray images using histogram specification method. The proposed approach consists of system model that discuss about finding the type of noise present in the image and enhancing image by removing the noise present in the image. The proposed method is very efficient as it enhances image by revealing most of the microarray spots which is used for subsequent stages of microarray analysis. Performance analysis is done to measure the efficiency by which image is enhanced. The algorithm uses peak signal to noise ratio and mean squared error to quantify the degree of degradation.

To study the physics of cavitation inception, a ducted propulsor simulation is developed and extensively validated with experimental results. The numerical method is shown to be in good agreement with experimental measurements made in the vortex. The simulation is used as a tool for investigating the minimum pressure, circulation, and axial/tangential velocities in the vortex core. Additionally, the tool is used to study Reynolds number scaling effects of cavitation inception. The simulation reveals that the leakage vortex exhibits little dependence on Reynolds number, while the trailing edge vortex appears to exhibit classical trends. Moreover, the trailing edge, albeit the weaker vortex, appears to be causing inception.

Objective. Supplemental oxygen treatment of patients on mechanical ventilation is crucial in maintaining the patients' oxygen levels in the normal range. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a closed-loop controller for automatic adjustment of the fraction of inspired oxygen, FIO2. More specifically, the aim of the study was to assess the robustness of the controller in correcting hypoxemia as well as its effectiveness in prevention of hyperoxemia and oxygen toxicity. Methods. The microprocessor-based feedback control system combines a rapid control algorithm with a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control procedure to automatically adjust FIO2. The system is designed to prevent hypoxemia by applying a stepwise control procedure in response to rapid declines in arterial oxygen saturation while fine-tuning FIO2 and avoiding hyperoxemia by resuming to the PID control procedure when appropriate. The system includes a sophisticated safeguard unit which is designed to communicate any oxygenation problems or measurement artifacts to the medical personnel while keeping FIO2 at a safe and sufficiently high level. The control system has been tested by using computer simulations as well as animal studies. Results. In response to different disturbances, the arterial oxygen saturation returned to the normal safe range within less than 20 seconds, thereby avoiding any untoward effects of hypoxemia. Under steady state conditions, the variations in arterial oxygen saturation were kept within ±3% of the mean value. The controller corrected hypoxemia within seconds while preventing hyperoxemia, rejecting artifacts, and minimizing exposure to high concentrations of oxygen. Conclusion. The results of the study attest to the reliability of the proposed closed-loop control scheme for automatic adjustment of FIO2. Further evaluation of the controller will require testing the effectiveness of the system on different patient groups.
