Einocchio: Efficiently Outsourcing Polynomial Computation with Verifiable Computation and Optimized Newton Interpolation

Cloud computing, as a promising service platform, has gained significant popularity in addressing emerging data privacy issues in applications such as machine learning and data mining. Researchers have proposed the verifiable computing that allows the cloud users to delegate their computation tasks to the cloud server. Then, the cloud server computes the cryptographic proofs that verify the correctness of the results, a process that is generally faster ompared to local manual computation. However, performing computation tasks or verifying the correctness of encrypted data, such as multivariate polynomial functions, remains a significant challenge. To solve this problem, we propose Einocchio: A verifiable computation scheme that combines the efficient Pinocchio system with homomorphic encryption, which allows the public verification of the computational results on the server side while ensuring data confidentiality and the results. Compared with the existing solutions, Einocchio does not reveal the client's input. Furthermore, we extrapolate Einocchio by optimizing the Pinocchio's quadratic arithmetic program component using a differential optimization method, which reduces the computational workload owing to the conversion from quadratic to linear complexity, thereby increasing the efficiency of the quadratic arithmetic program preprocessing stage. Security analysis demonstrates that Einocchio achieves IND-CPA security. Finally, the performance evaluation confirmed its effectiveness and suitability for cloud computing environments. Compared to the corresponding scheme based on Newton interpolation, Einocchio achieves a threefold greater computational efficiency, with the generation of interpolation polynomials for 50 data inputs occurring in a mere 0.31 ms, while simultaneously reducing the number of computations. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

PLC-MDT: A Framework for Detecting Anomalies With Digital Twins of Industrial Control Systems

The attack events (such as the Stuxnet and BlackEnergy) that targeted the industrial control system (ICS) have validated its vulnerability to cyber intrusions. The prevention of ICS from cyberattacks is undoubtedly important and practical as it operates dangerous equipment and produces products that people need. Traditional anomaly detection methods, which rely heavily on SCADA data, are often unreliable due to the limitation of such data in accurately reflecting real-time system states under attacks. Therefore, we propose PLC-MDT, a novel anomaly detection method based on digital twins (DTs), exploiting the modern communication technology and computing resources of ICS. PLC-MDT does not depend solely on SCADA data;instead, it leverages the interaction between DT and real-world ICS, utilizing both DT and field-site data to perform anomaly detection. Specifically, for PLC-MDT, the prediction model in DT is trained based on historical data, and the predicted values are used as input to the mechanism model in DT to generate simulated data. The networked structure of ICS guarantees real-time data collected from field sites for DT. Therefore, PLC-MDT detects attacks by monitoring the difference between the predicted and real-time data, revealing control channel corruption when the difference exceeds a threshold. The effectiveness of PLC-MDT is demonstrated through experiments on real-world systems, showing its potential for real-time detection of anomalies in ICS. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

A survey on cross-user federated recommendation

Recommender systems are effective in mitigating information overload, yet the centralized storage of user data raises significant privacy concerns. Cross-user federated recommendation(CUFR) provides a promising distributed paradigm to address these concerns by enabling privacy-preserving recommendations directly on user devices. In this survey, we review and categorize current progress in CUFR, focusing on four key aspects: privacy, security, accuracy, and efficiency. Firstly,we conduct an in-depth privacy analysis, discuss various cases of privacy leakage, and then review recent methods for privacy protection. Secondly, we analyze security concerns and review recent methods for untargeted and targeted *** untargeted attack methods, we categorize them into data poisoning attack methods and parameter poisoning attack methods. For targeted attack methods, we categorize them into user-based methods and item-based methods. Thirdly,we provide an overview of the federated variants of some representative methods, and then review the recent methods for improving accuracy from two categories: data heterogeneity and high-order information. Fourthly, we review recent methods for improving training efficiency from two categories: client sampling and model compression. Finally, we conclude this survey and explore some potential future research topics in CUFR.

Frequency Domain-Based Cross-Layer Feature Aggregation Network for Camouflaged Object Detection

Despite the progress of existing techniques in Camouflaged Object Detection, there are still problems such as multi-target omission, small-object misjudgment, and insufficient localization and segmentation accuracy. With the advantage of image frequency domain transformation, high-frequency features can capture detailed information such as edges and textures of the image, while low-frequency features depict the overall outline of the image, improving the accuracy of camouflage object detection. Therefore, this paper proposes a Frequency Domain-Based Cross-layer Feature Aggregation Network (FCFANet), aiming to improve the problems of multi-target omission, small target loss, object localization deviation, and insufficient segmentation accuracy in complex scenes. FCFANet mainly consists of an Intra- and Inter-layer Enhancement Module (IEM) and a Frequency-Spatial Interaction Fusion Module (FSIFM). IEM reduces noise and enhances the feature representation, while FSIFM extracts frequency information, and enhances feature discrimination by complementary fusion of spatial and frequency domains, thus realizing the precise positioning and high-precision segmentation of camouflaged objects. Compared with 16 state-of-the-art(SOTA) methods, experiments show that FCFANet outperforms other SOTA methods on four benchmark datasets. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Steel Surface Defect Detection Using Learnable Memory Vision Transformer

Moving Average-Based Variable Projection for Separable Nonlinear Problems

The identification of separable nonlinear models, prevalent in tasks such as signal analysis, image processing, time series analysis, and machine learning, presents a non-convex optimization challenge that necessitates the development of efficient identification algorithms. The Variable Projection (VP) algorithm has been proven to be quite effective for addressing these problems;however, traditional VP relying on the Hessian matrix and its inverse are highly time-consuming and unsuitable for complex, large-scale applications. This letter introduces a novel approach that employs the exponential moving average of gradient and gradient estimation bias to indirectly estimate the curvature of the objective landscape, proposing a Moving Average-based Variable Projection method (MAVP). The proposed algorithm utilizes only gradient information and can properly tackle the coupling relationships between different parameters during the optimization process, thereby achieving faster convergence. Numerical results on nonlinear time series analysis and image reconstruction demonstrate that the MAVP algorithm exhibits significant efficiency and effectiveness. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

Towards Adaptive Masked Structural Learning for Graph-Level Clustering

Graph data presents a vast landscape for real-world applications. Current graph-level clustering approaches predominantly utilize graph neural networks to capture the intricate structural information for graph data. However, a significant challenge arises in effectively integrate structural and feature information under the prevalent noise in the real-world scenario. The advent of masking strategies has marked significant strides in boosting model robustness, accommodating incomplete data, and enhancing generalization capabilities. Yet, research attention on leveraging mask strategy for facilitating graph-level clustering is still limited. In this paper, we introduce a novel graph-level clustering method, towards adaptive masked structural learning for graph-level clustering. The method performs adaptive masking through reconstruction loss, and jointly adaptive mask representation learning and clustering in an end-to-end unsupervised framework. The mutual information between maximized the entire graph and substructure representations is also utilized to learn to generate cluster-oriented graph-level representations. Extensive experiments on eight real graph-level benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. © 2013 IEEE.

Developing a Predictive Platform for Salmonella Antimicrobial Resistance Based on a Large Language Model and Quantum Computing

As a common foodborne pathogen, Salmonella poses risks to public health safety, common given the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant strains. However, there is currently a lack of systematic platforms based on large language models (LLMs) for Salmonella resistance prediction, data presentation, and data sharing. To overcome this issue, we firstly propose a two-step feature-selection process based on the chi-square test and conditional mutual information maximization to find the key Salmonella resistance genes in a pan-genomics analysis and develop an LLM-based Salmonella antimicrobial-resistance predictive (SARPLLM) algorithm to achieve accurate antimicrobial-resistance prediction, based on Qwen2 LLM and low-rank adaptation. Secondly, we optimize the time complexity to compute the sample distance from the linear to logarithmic level by constructing a quantum data augmentation algorithm denoted as QSMOTEN. Thirdly, we build up a user-friendly Salmonella antimicrobial-resistance predictive online platform based on knowledge graphs, which not only facilitates online resistance prediction for users but also visualizes the pan-genomics analysis results of the Salmonella datasets. © 2025 THE AUTHORS

DRL-Enabled Computation Offloading for AIGC Services in IIoT-Assisted Edge Computing Networks

The widespread application of AI-generated content (AIGC) services has driven demand for efficient computational resources, making effective task scheduling and computation offloading in edge computing (EC) environments a critical research topic. However, the high computational requirements and low latency demands of AIGC services, combined with the limitations of EC, present challenges for existing offloading methods, such as unstable decision making in dynamic task environments and resource overloading. Here, we propose a decentralized AIGC task offloading architecture within an IoT-assisted EC network to optimize the quality of AIGC services. In this architecture, we define a multiobjective joint optimization problem for AIGC task offloading, aiming to simultaneously optimize key performance metrics, such as task latency, energy efficiency, and load balancing. To address this problem, we introduce an improved proximal policy optimization (PPO)-based deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm, named TOPPO. By incorporating a policy update step size constraint and a clipping mechanism, TOPPO significantly enhances the stability of the training process and reduces fluctuations during policy updates. Additionally, the algorithm integrates an LSTM model to improve its ability to handle temporal dependencies. Through continuous interaction between the model and the environment, the offloading strategy is iteratively updated to ensure that diverse AIGC tasks are efficiently executed on IoT devices or edge servers. Extensive simulations and performance evaluations demonstrate that the proposed method achieves significant improvements in task latency, energy consumption, and load management during AIGC task processing. © 2014 IEEE.

Fake Face Detection Based on Fusion of Spatial Texture and High-Frequency Noise

The rapid development of the Internet has led to the widespread dissemination of manipulated facial images, significantly impacting people's daily lives. With the continuous advancement of Deepfake technology, the generated counterfeit facial images have become increasingly challenging to distinguish. There is an urgent need for a more robust and convincing detection method. Current detection methods mainly operate in the spatial domain and transform the spatial domain into other domains for analysis. With the emergence of transformers, some researchers have also combined traditional convolutional networks with transformers for detection. This paper explores the artifacts left by Deepfakes in various domains and, based on this exploration, proposes a detection method that utilizes the steganalysis rich model to extract high-frequency noise to complement spatial features. We have designed two main modules to fully leverage the interaction between these two aspects based on traditional convolutional neural networks. The first is the multi-scale mixed feature attention module, which introduces artifacts from high-frequency noise into spatial textures, thereby enhancing the model's learning of spatial texture features. The second is the multi-scale channel attention module, which reduces the impact of background noise by weighting the features. Our proposed method was experimentally evaluated on mainstream datasets, and a significant amount of experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in detecting Deepfake forged faces, outperforming the majority of existing methods.
