Existing methods for video-based person re-identification (ReID) mainly learn the appearance feature of a given pedestrian via a feature extractor and a feature aggregator. However, the appearance models would fail when different pedestrians have similar appearances. Considering that different pedestrians have different walking postures and body proportions, we propose to learn the discriminative pose feature beyond the appearance feature for video retrieval. Specifically, we implement a two-branch architecture to separately learn the appearance feature and pose feature, and then concatenate them together for inference. To learn the pose feature, we first detect the pedestrian pose in each frame through an off-the-shelf pose detector, and construct a temporal graph using the pose sequence. We then exploit a recurrent graph convolutional network (RGCN) to learn the node embeddings of the temporal pose graph, which devises a global information propagation mechanism to simultaneously achieve the neighborhood aggregation of intra-frame nodes and message passing among inter-frame graphs. Finally, we propose a dual-attention method consisting of node-attention and time-attention to obtain the temporal graph representation from the node embeddings, where the self-attention mechanism is employed to learn the importance of each node and each frame. We verify the proposed method on three video-based ReID datasets, i.e., Mars, DukeMTMC and iLIDS-VID, whose experimental results demonstrate that the learned pose feature can effectively improve the performance of existing appearance models. Multiple and complex codimension-2 bifurcations underlying post-inhibitory rebound spike and excitability transition

Neuron exhibits nonlinear dynamics such as excitability transition and post-inhibitory rebound (PIR) spike related to bifurcations, which are associated with information processing, locomotor modulation, or brain disease. PIR spike is evoked by inhibitory stimulation instead of excitatory stimulation, which presents a challenge to the threshold concept. In the present paper, 7 codimension-2 or degenerate bifurcations related to 10 codimension-1 bifurcations are acquired in a neuronal model, which presents the bifurcations underlying the excitability transition and PIR spike. Type I excitability corresponds to saddle-node bifurcation on an invariant cycle (SNIC) bifurcation, and type II excitability to saddle-node (SN) bifurcation or sub-critical Hopf (SubH) bifurcation or sup-critical Hopf (SupH) bifurcation. The excitability transition from type I to II corresponds to the codimension-2 bifurcation, Saddle-Node Homoclinic orbit (SNHO) bifurcation, via which SNIC bifurcation terminates and meanwhile big homoclinic orbit (BHom) bifurcation and SN bifurcation emerge. A degenerate bifurcation via which BHom bifurcation terminates and fold limit cycle (LPC) bifurcation emerges is responsible for spiking transition from type I to II, and the roles of other codimension-2 bifurcations (Cusp, Bogdanov-Takens, and Bautin) are discussed. In addition, different from the widely accepted viewpoint that PIR spike is mainly evoked near Hopf bifurcation rather than SNIC bifurcation, PIR spike is identified to be induced near SNIC or BHom or LPC bifurcations, and threshold curves resemble that of Hopf bifurcation. The complex bifurcations present comprehensive and deep understandings of excitability transition and PIR spike, which are helpful for the modulation to neural firing activities and physiological functions. © 2021, CC BY.

Since the release of the first 3D watermarking algorithm in the last decade, 3D meshes applying such an algorithm have been growing up with a diversity of techniques during the embedding of information into meshes. The main objective is always to secure data shared by remote users. The originality of the present work is issued from the use of spherical harmonics to transform the mesh to the frequency domain to be watermarked, and the entropy concept to estimate the optimal order of the reconstruction. Our algorithm includes three parts. The first is the data pre-processing based on a combination of a signature generated by the well-known Secure Hash Algorithm, and a mesh description, subject to a convolutional error correcting code. The second step is the mesh treatment, consisting in extracting spherical harmonics coefficients to be watermarked. Finally, the third part consists in inserting data into coefficients using LSB and quantification method, and next to reconstruct the watermarked mesh. The experimentation of our approach has shown a high insertion rate, while maintaining the mesh quality. It is also robust against the most popular attacks. We consider the problem of secure distributed matrix multiplication in which a user wishes to compute the product of two matrices with the assistance of honest but curious servers. We show how to construct polynomial schemes for the outer product partitioning which take advantage of the user’s ability to precompute, and provide bounds for our technique. We show that precomputation allows for a reduction in the order of the time complexity for the cases where the number of colluding servers is a fixed percentage of the number of servers. Furthermore, with precomputation, any percentage (less than 100%) of collusions can be tolerated, compared to the upper limit of 50% for the case without precomputation. © 2024, CC0.

Since the 3D mesh security 3D mesh security has become intellectual property, 3D watermarking algorithms have continued to appear to secure 3D meshes shared by remote users. The originality of this approach is to insert copyright data in multiresolution domain using multi-wavelet transform which allowed us to significantly increase the size of the watermark. Our algorithm includes then two rounds of insertion where each one applies a different type of wavelet transform. The first one undergoes coefficients generated by Haar wavelet transform. As for the second iteration, it inserts data into coefficients resulting from Schauder wavelet transform. The watermark, which is a combination of the mesh description and source mesh signature (generated using SHA512) are encoded using a Turbo-code before being inserted into wavelet coefficients. Embedding data includes a transformation of these later to spherical coordinate system and a modulation steps. Finally watermarked mesh is reconstructed using inverse wavelet transform. The experimentation of our approach has shown a very high insertion rate due to the use of the hybrid insertion domain, while maintaining the mesh quality. Watermarked mesh and extracted data are obtained in real time. Our approach is also robust against the most popular attacks. Diseases are a significant aspect of human beings in modern times. It plays a vital role in a safe life in the present era. At the same time, registration, missing medication letter, scans, etc., is among the most significant issues when interacting with physicians. Here it has to overcome these problems with Smartphone app control with user engagement innovations for the wellness climate. The Rx List Pill Identifier Tool recognizes generic, OTC, and marketed medicines by coloring pill, size, type, and medication print. Align and quickly identify the drugs with the images in the medication imprint (pill ID). In addition, the health details of patients, such as ECG, temperature, and BP, which are provided for reference purposes to cloud stocking, can be stored. The existing frameworks' outcome is to give guidance for transforming these traditional health services into lean systems that will aid in the creation of a poor hospital with satisfied customers. The centralized medical complex skin temperature tracking system comprises the access point and various control terminals, comprising a power supply, thermal signal array, ESP8266 transmission and reception, display, alarm, and motion sensor, among other things. The STM32 heart controls and operates the software. During operation, the host delivers the signal with the necessary addressing data.

The current study explores the mass and heat transport analysis of a Casson liquid stream past a curved surface. The current model considers the effect of magnetic strength brought on by the strength of the applied uniform magnetic field. The significance of thermophoresis and Brownian motion are also taken into account using the Buongiorno nano-liquid model. The study of liquid flow over stretching sheets frequently addresses practical issues that have garnered significant attention from researchers due to their importance in various domains, including microfluidics, fibreglass production, manufacturing, transportation, metal extrusion, thermal insulation, glass production, paper manufacturing, and acoustic blasting. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are converted into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using the similarity variables. These equations are numerically solved using the finite difference method (FDM). The concentration, temperature, and velocity graphs were produced by varying the different physical parameters. The upsurge in the magnetic parameter reduces the velocity profile. As the magnetic parameter increases, thermal and concentration profiles upsurge. The decrease in velocity profile can be seen as the Casson parameter rises. The intensification in values of thermophoretic parameter enhances the thermal and concentration profiles. The concentration and thermal profiles reduce as the curvature parameter upsurges. © 2024 The Author(s)

Cell imaging assays utilizing fluorescence stains are essential for observing sub-cellular organelles and their responses to perturbations. Immunofluorescent staining process is routinely in labs, however the recent innovations in generative AI is challenging the idea of wet lab immunofluorescence (IF) staining. This is especially true when the availability and cost of specific fluorescence dyes is a problem to some labs. Furthermore, staining process takes time and leads to inter-intra-technician and hinders downstream image and data analysis, and the reusability of image data for other projects. Recent studies showed the use of generated synthetic IF images from brightfield (BF) images using generative AI algorithms in the literature. Therefore, in this study, we benchmark and compare five models from three types of IF generation backbones-CNN, GAN, and diffusion models-using a publicly available dataset. This paper not only serves as a comparative study to determine the best-performing model but also proposes a comprehensive analysis pipeline for evaluating the efficacy of generators in IF image synthesis. We highlighted the potential of deep learning-based generators for IF image synthesis, while also discussed potential issues and future research directions. Although generative AI shows promise in simplifying cell phenotyping using only BF images with IF staining, further research and validations are needed to address the key challenges of model generalisability, batch effects, feature relevance and computational costs. © 2024, CC BY.

Unbiased Estimation using a Class of Diffusion Processes

We study the problem of unbiased estimation of expectations with respect to (w.r.t.) π a given, general probability measure on (d, B(d)) that is absolutely continuous with respect to a standard Gaussian measure. We focus on simulation associated to a particular class of diffusion processes, sometimes termed the Schrödinger-Föllmer Sampler, which is a simulation technique that approximates the law of a particular diffusion bridge process {Xt}tϵ[0,1]on d, d ϵ 0. This latter process is constructed such that, starting at X0= 0, one has X1∼ π. Typically, the drift of the diffusion is intractable and, even if it were not, exact sampling of the associated diffusion is not possible. As a result, [10, 16] consider a stochastic Euler-Maruyama scheme that allows the development of biased estimators for expectations w.r.t. π. We show that for this methodology to achieve a mean square error of O(ϵ2), for arbitrary ϵ > 0, the associated cost is O(ϵ-5). We then introduce an alternative approach that provides unbiased estimates of expectations w.r.t. π, that is, it does not suffer from the time discretization bias or the bias related with the approximation of the drift function. We prove that to achieve a mean square error of O(ϵ2), the associated cost (which is random) is, with high probability, O(ϵ-2| log(ϵ)|2+δ), for any δ > 0. Tripartite entanglement measure under local operations and classical communication

Multipartite entanglement is an indispensable resource in quantum communication and computation, however, it is a challenging task to faithfully quantify this global property of multipartite quantum systems. In this work, we study the concurrence fill, which admits a geometric interpretation to measure genuine tripartite entanglement for the three-qubit system in [S. Xie et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 127. 040403 (2021)]. First, we use the well-known three-tangle and bipartite concurrence to reformulate this quantifier for all pure states. We then construct an explicit example to conclusively show the concurrence fill can be increased under local operations and classical communication (LOCC) on average, implying it is not an entanglement monotone. Moreover, we give a simple proof of the LOCC-monotonicity of three-tangle and find that the bipartite concurrence and the squared can have distinct performances under the same LOCC. Finally, we propose a reliable monotone to quantify genuine tripartite entanglement, which can also be easily generalised to the multipartite system. Our results shed light on studying genuine entanglement and also reveal the complex structure of multipartite systems. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
