Second-order nonlinear Hall effect in Weyl semimetals

We investigate the second-order nonlinear Hall effect of Weyl semimetals using a quantum theory, paying attention to the interband process and quantum interference effect. The Drude-type nonlinear Hall conductivity due to the intraband process is found for each Weyl node in the low-frequency regime (the photon energy of the incident field is much smaller than the chemical potential). While in the high-frequency regime with the interband process dominated, the nonlinear photoconductivity shows a two-photon resonant peak or double peaks due to inversion symmetry breaking. The peak splitting is determined by the chemical potential and tilt of the Weyl node. There is a nonmonotonic dependence of the nonlinear Hall current on the tilt of the Weyl node, and an optimal tilt for the maximum Hall current has been found. Moreover, with the help of quantum interference, the nonlinear Hall response can be effectively modulated by tuning the amplitude, phase, and polarization of the incident fields. In particular, in the presence of driving fields with frequencies ω0 and 3ω0, the interplay between the optical processes of second-harmonic generation and different frequency generation leads to the chirality-selective generation of nonlinear Hall current under suitable conditions.

We consider a two-mode bosonic state with fixed photon number n ∈ N, whose upper and lower modes pick up a phase and − respectively. We compute the optimal Fock coefficients of the input state, such that the mean square error (MSE) for estimating is minimized while the minimum MSE is always attainable by a measurement. Our setting is Bayesian, i.e., we consider to be a random variable that follows a prior probability distribution function (PDF). Initially, we consider the flat prior PDF and we discuss the well-known fact that the MSE is not an informative tool for estimating a phase when the variance of the prior PDF is large. Therefore, we move on to study truncated versions of the flat prior in both single-shot and adaptive approaches. For our adaptive technique we consider n = 1 and truncated prior PDFs. Each subsequent step utilizes as prior PDF the posterior probability of the previous step and at the same time we update the optimal state and optimal measurement. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. In recent decade, the research in nanotechnology brought the idea of nanofluids which are highly conducting materials. Some important applications of nanofluids are justified in pharmaceutical industry, coolants in vehicles engine, preparation process of various medicines for treatment of fatal diseases like cancer, aircraft industry, latest heat exchangers etc. The ferro particles are special class of nanomaterial which attract variety of interest from the researchers. The objective of current research is to perform the investigation for heat and mass transfer subject to Carreau nanofluid to observe the enhancement of heat transmission phenomena. The induction of magnetic dipole has been observed for thermal transport phenomenon. The flow is causing by stretched surface. A simplified system is obtained by utilizing the dimensionless variables. Physical interpretation of results have been presented. Result showed that temperature profile in presence of ferrofluid fluid boosts up with escalation in thermophoresis parameter, while opposite behavior is noted for power law index. The concentration of ferrofluid showing declining behavior for Schmidt numbers and rises for thermophoresis parameter. © 2024

Let G = (VG, EG) be a simple connected graph with its vertex set VG and edge set EG. The Mostar index Mo(G) was defined as Mo(G) = P |nu − nv|, e=uv∈E(G) where nu (resp., nv) is the number of vertices whose distance to vertex u (resp., v) is smaller than the distance to vertex v (resp., u). In this study, we determine the first three minimum Mostar indices of tree-like phenylenes and characterize all the tree-like phenylenes attaining these values. Hospital emergency departments (EDs) are crucial medical facilities providing emergency healthcare. Understanding and measuring the patient flow in EDs plays a key role in maximizing the utility of scarce hospital resources. Existing approaches either require manual reporting by staff or collect sensitive data about patients via camera or hospital registration system, causing potential privacy breaches. Against this background, we propose a data-driven modeling strategy of ED crowdedness leveraging multi-source urban crowdsensing data, which automatically provides fine-grained and timely information about the crowdedness of EDs. Specifically, our model can not only accurately extract the emergency visit demand from noisy human mobility data with minimum expert knowledge using active learning and co-training techniques, but also estimate ED crowdedness by modeling the emergency service process by integrating three queueing models for general practice, internal medicine, and surgical clinics, respectively. We evaluate our method leveraging large-scale taxi and hire vehicle trajectory datasets and hospital information system datasets from the government open data portal. Results show that our approach effectively extracts the emergency visit demand and models the emergency service process to assess the crowdedness of EDs. We have deployed the system in Xiamen City by collaborating with the municipal government to provide services for citizens and health providers.

With the widespread usage of smartphones, users not just using their smartphone for calls and messaging only, but they are using it for a variety of purposes such as banking transactions, e-mailing, chatting, online shopping, video conferencing, health monitoring, and many more. Most of these activities store personal and sensitive data of the user on the device, reaching this confidential information by unauthorized person may cause huge losses and bad consequences. Therefore, securing the smartphone's accessibility from unauthorized people became an extremely essential. With the advanced development in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods, different methods were developed to be easily used by users through specific criteria. However, many aspects haven't been discovered yet in the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. On the basis of that, this study aims to review the area of sensor-based smartphone authentication methods systematically to provide a comprehensive understanding of this new area and to discuss the current challenges and issues. To conduct this systematic review, four scientific digital databases were utilized;ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, and Scopus. The total number of studies found was n = 256 articles, only n = 46 articles were included based on our inclusion criteria. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the included studies, taxonomy was drawn. Also, this study provides a discussion on the current motivations, challenges and issues, and recommendations in sensor-based smartphone authentication methods. This review enlightens, encourage, and direct researchers to develop authentication solutions and reduce the current gaps in this area. © 2024 The Authors

This analysis describes the bioconvective flow of nanofluid due to rotation of disk. A uniform suspension of nanofluid between microorganisms is considered to analyze the applications of bioconvection. The nanofluid assumed to be electrically conducting with amplification of magnetic force. The problem is entertained in presence of different slip features including velocity, temperature, concentration and microorganisms. The formulation of problem in simplified form is attained via dimensionless variables. Shooting numerical scheme is used to compute the simulations. Physical interpretation and visualization of results is observed in view of parameters. The observations concluded that interaction of slip effects reduces the velocity profile but enhances nanofluid temperature and concentration profiles. The temperature profile increases with thermophoresis parameter. Current results comprise applications in cooling of electronics devices, thin film coating, gas turbines engine, energy systems etc. © 2024

Learning from high-dimensional imbalanced data is a challenging research problem in machine learning, due to the curse of dimensionality caused by high dimension and the learning bias resulted from class imbalance. The existing works generally apply dimension reduction methods to reduce the dimensionality of features first, and then deal with the class imbalance problem by traditional imbalanced learning technologies. However, dimensionality reduction may cause the loss of useful information and cannot effectively address the problem of hubness which is an important aspect of the curse of dimensionality. In this paper, we present a hubness-aware cluster-based ensemble algorithm, HUSBoost, for learning high- dimensional imbalanced data. For hubs induced by high dimensionality, HUSBoost introduces discount factors to slow down the excessive growth of their weights, so as to alleviate the negative impacts of 'bad' hubs on the classification decisions of component classifiers. To address the class imbalance problem, HUSBoost utilizes a cluster-based majority undersampling method to correct imbalanced class distribution. Specifically, k- hubs clustering technology is used to divide the majority samples into multiple clusters, and then the representative majority samples are selected from each cluster so as to form the balanced class distribution. Experimental results based on sixteen high-dimensional imbalanced data sets show the effectiveness of HUSBoost. © 2019 IEEE.

The researchers are interested to enhance the temperature characteristics of convection heat transportation investigation. The studies based on nanofluids are accomplished because these phenomena exhibit an abnormal elevation in thermal transportation. This analysis captures historical impacts on heat and momentum transfer that traditional models ignore by using the Caputo fractional derivative in to model damped shear-thermal flux in nanofluid convection. In this manuscript, the natural convection flow, as well as heat transference of nanofluids, is studied. The classical expressions are fractionalized with the help of constitutive shearing stress expression along with Fourier relation. The Caputo kernel (power-law and non-local) engenders the damping on gradients of momentum and temperature;consequently, transportation approaches are affected by the histories entirely of the previous and current time. The fractional differential equations of velocity as well as temperature are solved analytically by invoking Laplace and the finite Sine-Fourier transform method. In a particular case, the solution to the classical model is also found. Moreover, these solutions are described in respect of the Lorenzo-Hartley G-function together with the Mittag-Leffler function. This investigation exposes that rising nanoparticle volume fraction improves the heat transfer rate, however the skin friction coefficient is affected by time and fractional parameters. The influences of diverse parameters are debated graphically. This study has numerous operations in thermal engineering. © 2024

Traditional randomized clinical trials are regarded as the gold standard for assessing the efficacy of chemotherapy. However, this procedure has drawbacks such as high cost, time consumption, and limited patient exploration of treatment regimens. We develop a multi-objective optimization-based framework to address these limitations and determine the best chemotherapy dosing and treatment duration. The proposed framework uses patient-specific biological parameters to create a mathematical model of cell population dynamics in the patient's body. The framework employs evolutionary heuristic search methods (simulated annealing and genetic algorithms) and a prescriptive analytics approach to optimize therapy sessions that transition from treatment to relaxation. We carefully adjust the chemotherapy dose during treatment to reduce tumor cells while preserving host cells (such as effector-immune cells). We strategically time the relaxation sessions to aid recovery, considering the ability of tumors and healthy cells to regenerate. We use a combined optimization method to determine the length of the session and the amount of drug to be administered. We compare quadratic and linear optimal control solvers for drug administration while genetic algorithms and simulated annealing are used to optimize session length. This approach is especially important in limited healthcare resources, ensuring efficient allocation while accurately identifying high-risk patients to optimize resource allocation and utilization. © 2024 The Authors
