Semantic Overlap Summarization (SOS) is a novel and relatively under-explored seq-to-seq task which entails summarizing common information from multiple alternate narratives. One of the major challenges for solving this task is the lack of existing datasets for supervised training. To address this challenge, we propose a novel data augmentation technique, which allows us to create large amount of synthetic data for training a seq-to-seq model that can perform the SOS task. Through extensive experiments using narratives from the news domain, we show that the models fine-tuned using the synthetic dataset provide significant performance improvements over the pre-trained vanilla summarization techniques and are close to the models fine-tuned on the golden training data;which essentially demonstrates the effectiveness of out proposed data augmentation technique for training seq-to-seq models on the SOS task. © 2022 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The autonomous number plate detection system plays a crucial role in modern transportation, law enforcement, and security infrastructure. Technical approaches using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision are actively researched to achieve ease of maintenance through real-time vehicle detection. The recent development has drastically improved the accuracy of object detection and recognition systems in deep neural networks. Using these techniques, vehicle number plates can easily be detected autonomously for vehicle identification and tracking. Here, we have used a custom-trained TensorFlow-based number plate detection method to autonomously detect vehicles using images captured by a smartphone, or surveillance camera. It showed an impressive mAP @ 0.5 of 95%, and demonstrated limitations in long-distance detection, leading us to designate it as the optimal vehicle detection model for accuracy. We designed and developed an autonomous number plate detection system for vehicle identification and tracking, which includes web-based, android-based, and embedded-based applications. In addition, we evaluated the proposed autonomous number plate detection system with real-time images and videos. The proposed system achieved real-time vehicle detection and tracking, boasting a commendable 90% detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Personalized Federated Learning (PFL) has gained significant attention for its ability to handle heterogeneous data effectively. Parameter decoupling is a typical approach to PFL. It decouples the model into a feature extractor and a classifier head, where the feature extractor is trained collaboratively to learn a common representation and the classifier head is personalized for local data. Since local training only learns personalized feature information and ignores global information, the generalization ability of the feature extractor is limited. To improve the performance of the local model, a feasible approach is to make the local feature extractor more generalized. However, prior work requires the transmission of additional feature data beyond the transmission of model parameters, which leads to privacy leakage and higher communication overhead. To address these shortcomings, we propose a PFL algorithm with feature alignment via knowledge distillation, named PFAKD. PFAKD enhances the training of local feature extractors by explicitly aligning each sample’s local features with global features, providing more detailed guidance. Meanwhile, it avoids additional communication overhead and the risk of privacy leakage. We conduct extensive experiments in heterogeneous data scenarios. PFAKD outperforms other state-of-the-art methods by up to 4.35% in terms of model accuracy. Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) emerged as an innovative and patient-centric approach for non-invasive and painless examination of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It serves as a pivotal tool in helping medical practitioners in the early detection of anomalies within the intricate domain of the human GI tract. The automated identification of aberrations assumes paramount significance, contributing not only to temporal efficiency but also to timely diagnosis. Within the realm of academic literature, a plethora of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methodologies have been proposed to effectuate the automatic classification, segmentation, and synthesis of anomalies inherent in WCE images. This scholarly endeavor undertakes a comprehensive and meticulous survey, elucidating the spectrum of anomaly classification, summarization, and detection techniques harnessed for computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) in the context of WCE images. The survey begins by delineating the methodologies underpinning WCE image classification and video processing. Subsequently, an exhaustive evaluation of techniques for analyzing WCE images is furnished, accompanied by an in-depth exploration of pertinent surveys, in addition to a judicious assessment of their merits and demerits. Furthermore, this study undertakes a rigorous evaluation of prevailing datasets utilized to benchmark the efficacy of various WCE techniques. Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

Over the past few years, AI has emerged as a formidable asset in the battle against spam. AI approaches have demonstrated their potential in improving spam detection in social systems. The importance of AI methods lies in their flexibility and ability to identify patterns, rendering them highly suitable for addressing the ever-changing characteristics of spam. In this paper, we provide an overview of all AI methods and algorithms used for spam detection in social systems, and evaluation of their performance in terms of used metrics such as accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score. Also, we provide a comparative analysis of the used AI methods, challenges and limitations, emerging trends and future research directions, and privacy concerns in AI-driven spam detection in social systems. This paper emphasizes the significance of AI Methods in the realm of spam detection and investigates a range of AI-driven strategies that have been suggested and put into practice to combat spam with efficacy. © 2023 IEEE.

In addressing labor-intensive process of manual plant disease detection, this article introduces an innovative solution—the lightweight parallel depthwise separable convolutional neural network (PDSCNN) coupled with a hybrid ridge regression extreme learning machine classifier. This combined approach automates plant disease classification, significantly expediting the learning process and reducing computational complexity. The PDSCNN model excels in feature capture, boasting a mere 9 layers and 0.053 million parameters, resulting in exceptional computational efficiency. On top of that, the classification performances of traditional ELM increased by introducing a hybrid ridge ELM model. Its accelerated operations, reduced memory usage, and optimized parallel processing render it lightweight and ideal for edge devices. The proposed framework exhibits remarkable efficacy, showcasing a precision of 95.76%, a recall of 89.29%, an F1-score of 91.25%, an accuracy of 94.22%, and an AUC of 99.72%. Moreover, training and testing times clock in at just 0.2314 and 0.0259 s, respectively. A comparative analysis against state-of-the-art transfer learning methods underscores its real-time analytical prowess. To demonstrate real-world applicability, we successfully validated our model on the Jetson Nano hardware, making it suitable for resource-constrained settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This paper proposes an improved initialization strategy for the multi-view k-means clustering algorithm based on the adaptive sparse membership and weight allocation multi-view k-means clustering algorithm (MVASM). The method first performs k-means++ clustering on each view to obtain the labels for each view, and then defines a cross-view consistency objective function. The labels and view weights are optimized iteratively, and the subviews are integrated according to the view weights. The integrated view is then subjected to k-means++ clustering. The similarity between the subviews and the integrated view is calculated using the labels, and the weights are solved using gradient descent. After iteration, the center of the subviews is calculated using the labels of the integrated view. Finally, the initialized labels, centers, and weights are brought into the MVASM algorithm for clustering. Experiments on multiple benchmark datasets show that the algorithm proposed in this paper improves the accuracy of four evaluation metrics (ACC, NMI, Purity, Jaccard) by an average of 18.49%, 37.15%, 6.34%, and 14.87%, respectively. © 2023 ACM.

Language model pre-training has emerged as a highly effective approach for acquiring universal language representations. Among the state-of-the-art models in this field, BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) has garnered significant attention due to its remarkable performance across various language understanding tasks. With its advanced architecture and innovative techniques, BERT has consistently delivered impressive results, solidifying its position as a leading language model pre-training model. CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) is also widely used in language model *** study presents a novel approach for text classification by combining a pre-trained BERT model with a CNN classifier. The model under consideration attains the highest level of performance currently available on the AG News and Amazon product reviews datasets. The BERT model is applied to produce contextualized embeddings for the input text data, while the CNN classifier executes the classification process. By utilizing the contextualized embeddings of BERT and the n-gram feature capturing of CNN, our model exhibits superior performance in both accuracy and F1 score when compared to the baseline models. The findings indicate the capability of our methodology in analyzing social media, determining sentiment, and classifying documents. © 2023 IEEE.
