Agriculture is critical to ensuring and securing food supply for human consumption. Paddy crops are an agricultural practice that produces one of the highest food yields in agriculture. Paddy diseases must now be detected and diagnosed as soon as possible rather than later. Farmers currently use the naked eye to observe suspected infected paddies. The suspected infected paddy will then be sampled and sent to the laboratory for further examination. These methods are highly inefficient, time-consuming, and error prone. Most paddy farmers lack the knowledge to make an informed and accurate diagnosis of which paddies are infected by which diseases. This paper explores using deep learning algorithms to detect and classify various paddy diseases automatically. This method will take an image of paddy leaves and classify it based on the disease category indicated by the idea. The PaddyDoctor dataset from the Kaggle website was used to train and test the deep-learning models. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Transfer Learning models, including MobileNet, MobileNetv2, and InceptionV3, have been constructed. The results of an experiment involving different dataset split ratios, learning rates, and batch sizes. CNN with MobileNetV2 outperformed CNN with MobileNetV1 and CNN with InceptionV3 by 98.05 percent, 80.08 percent, and 83.98 percent, respectively.

In the recommended technique, AI and blockchain technology improve system stability and projected maintenance. This innovative technique begins with sensor data collection and preprocessing. This covers cleaning, normalizing, and extracting characteristics for AI model training. The model’s projections set alarming limitations. These are securely stored on a blockchain for data transparency. Continuous feedback loops make data processing safer and enhance model prediction. Combining monitor data with model projections to identify problems and provide effective solutions makes the system more trustworthy. Adaptive beamforming improves optical communication by changing beamforming weights and channel responses in real time, enhancing signal integrity and performance. The technique enhances transparency, security, automation efficiency, scalability, portability, data integrity, privacy protection, system speed, resource usage, fault tolerance, cost-effectiveness, and user experience. Simple, safe, and effective system management and predictive maintenance are demonstrated by their consistently higher performance than prior methods. AI and blockchain work together to establish a new standard by eliminating current constraints and changing all elements.

In today's world, data volume is immense and is expanding at an exponential rate. A leading factor of this is the data shared over social media by millions of people daily in the form of text, audio, video, and images. Opinion mining is a branch of text mining that seeks to extract public opinion about an event or particular topic on any online platform like review sites, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Most of the work in opinion mining is done in the English language and very little is done in Roman Urdu, which is a dominant social media language in Pakistan and India. Inflation and politics are amongst the most talked-about and discussed topics on social media in Pakistan. In this study, an Inflation and Politics-based Roman Urdu dataset is prepared that is extracted from the Roman Urdu dataset available at Kaggle. Various operations (with text processing, without text preprocessing, with attribute selection, without attribute selection) were performed on the data over machine learning algorithms of Naive Bayes, Bayes Net, KStar, Decision Tree, and Random Forest and determined which algorithm gave the best accuracy on the training data. WEKA (Version 3.8.4) was used to generate opinion mining regarding politics and inflation in Pakistan using the Roman Urdu dataset.

The Skolem Problem asks to decide whether a given integer linear recurrence sequence (LRS) has a zero term. Decidability of this problem has been open for many decades, with little progress since the 1980s. Recently, a new approach was initiated via the notion of a Skolem set - a set of positive integers relative to which the Skolem Problem is decidable. More precisely, S is a Skolem set for a class L of integer LRS if there is an effective procedure that, given an LRS in L, decides whether the sequence has a zero in S. A recent work exhibited a Skolem set for the class of all LRS that, while infinite, had density zero. In response to the growing imperative of addressing environmental concerns and aligning with governmental regulations in supply chain management, this study navigates the optimization landscape of closed-loop supply chains through the lens of carbon cap and trade policy. The optimization model aims to account for the impact of consumer demands, distribution networks, and retail operations on the overall closed-loop supply chain dynamics. The innovative approach introduces an optimization model designed to grapple with the challenges posed by imprecise information within an intuitionistic type-2 fuzzy framework. The bi-objective mixed-integer model integrates pivotal objectives, including carbon emissions reduction, total cost minimization, and trade policy compliance. For a nuanced comprehension of the proposed model, we present three numerical examples, offering clarity on its complexities. Following this, a sensitivity analysis visually depicts the impact of fluctuations in demand and capacity on the defined objective functions. Furthermore, these conclusions unveil promising avenues for future research and exploration within the ambit of this study. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Multiplexed bi-layered realization of fault-tolerant quantum computation over optically networked trapped-ion modules

We study an architecture for fault-tolerant measurement-based quantum computation (FT-MBQC) over optically-networked trapped-ion modules. The architecture is implemented with a finite number of modules and ions per module, and leverages photonic interactions for generating remote entanglement between modules and local Coulomb interactions for intra-modular entangling gates. We focus on generating the topologically protected Raussendorf-Harrington-Goyal (RHG) lattice cluster state, which is known to be robust against lattice bond failures and qubit noise, with the modules acting as lattice sites. To ensure that the remote entanglement generation rates surpass the bond-failure tolerance threshold of the RHG lattice, we employ spatial and temporal multiplexing. For realistic system timing parameters, we estimate the code cycle time of the RHG lattice and the ion resources required in a bi-layered implementation, where the number of modules matches the number of sites in two lattice layers, and qubits are reinitialized after measurement. For large distances between modules, we incorporate quantum repeaters between sites and analyze the benefits in terms of cumulative resource requirements. Finally, we derive and analyze a qubit noise-tolerance threshold inequality for the RHG lattice generation in the proposed architecture that accounts for noise from various sources. This includes the depolarizing noise arising from the photonically-mediated remote entanglement generation between modules due to finite optical detection efficiency, limited visibility, and presence of dark clicks, in addition to the noise from imperfect gates and measurements, and memory decoherence with time. Our work thus underscores the hardware and channel threshold requirements to realize distributed FT-MBQC in a leading qubit platform today—trapped ions. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The satellite Internet of Things (IoT), utilizing Cyber-Physical systems (CPS) Communication Networks and various satellite-borne and ground-based terminal devices, enables integrated human-object connectivity and information exchange across space, sky, and ground. A terminal authentication method based on trust evaluation is proposed to ensure the secure and efficient utilization of satellite IoT resources. This method optimizes authentication strategies by evaluating the trustworthiness of terminal devices. A satellite IoT terminal trust evaluation mechanism is proposed for scenarios where a previously strongly authenticated terminal needs re-authentication within a short time or where trust is granted via a strongly authenticated node. This mechanism describes dynamically adjusted trust metrics and evaluation models based on direct and indirect trust. A satellite IoT access authentication protocol based on trust evaluation is also designed, employing corresponding authentication mechanisms according to the device's trust level. This simplifies the re-authentication process for highly trusted devices, enabling differentiated authentication services for various terminal devices within the same authentication framework. A comprehensive security analysis of the protocol is conducted using informal methods and the Tamarin formal verification tool. Experiments validate the protocol's effectiveness, showing that it can reduce overall authentication costs and streamline the authentication process through trust-based simplifications. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

A Continuous Variable Quantum Switch

The continuous quadratures of a single mode of the light field present a promising avenue to encode quantum information. By virtue of the infinite dimensionality of the associated Hilbert space, quantum states of these continuous variables (CV) can enable higher communication rates compared to single photon-based qubit encodings. Quantum repeater protocols that are essential to extend the range of quantum communications at enhanced rates over direct transmission have also been recently proposed for CV quantum encodings. Here we present a quantum repeating switch for CV quantum encodings that caters to multiple communication flows. The architecture of the switch is based on quantum light sources, detectors, memories, and switching fabric, and the routing protocol is based on a Max-Weight scheduling policy that is throughput optimal. We present numerical results on an achievable bipartite entanglement request rate region for multiple CV entanglement flows that can be stably supported through the switch. In image retrieval systems, many search engines rely on text-based methods, extracting information from descriptions and tags to retrieve relevant images. However, this conventional approach often overlooks the optical or semantic information present in photographs, leading to errors in the retrieved results. To address this issue, it is essential to consider content-based information such as intensities, edges, and pixel values when designing image retrieval systems, especially in domains like medicine. This study focuses on developing a Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system for the domain of medicine, with a particular emphasis on lung cancer detection. Early identification and treatment of lung cancer are critical for patient outcomes, making suitable computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems essential for assisting clinicians. The proposed ensemble model incorporates various feature extraction methods, including image processing techniques and wavelet transform, to harness the valuable information from images. These features are then fed into a deep learning model to assess their effectiveness in image retrieval tasks. By combining machine learning and image processing techniques, this work presents a comprehensive CBIR system capable of efficiently retrieving relevant medical images. Such advancements in image retrieval technology hold significant promise for aiding medical professionals in diagnosing and treating diseases like lung cancer promptly.

Fast-forwarding quantum algorithms for linear dissipative differential equations

We establish improved complexity estimates of quantum algorithms for linear dissipative ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and show that the time dependence can be fast-forwarded to be sub-linear. Specifically, we show that a quantum algorithm based on truncated Dyson series can prepare history states of dissipative ODEs up to time T with cost Oe(log(T)(log(1/ϵ))2), which is an exponential speedup over the best previous result. For final state preparation at time T, we show that its complexity is Oe(√T(log(1/ϵ))2), achieving a polynomial speedup in T. We also analyze the complexity of simpler lower-order quantum algorithms, such as the forward Euler method and the trapezoidal rule, and find that even lower-order methods can still achieve Oe(√T) cost with respect to time T for preparing final states of dissipative ODEs. As applications, we show that quantum algorithms can simulate dissipative non-Hermitian quantum dynamics and heat process with fast-forwarded complexity sub-linear in time.
