Although remarkable advances have been achieved in generic object detection, small object detection (SOD) remains challenging owing to small objects’ information loss and noisy representation caused by their non-uniform distribution. Their limited width and height, scale variations, and redundant computation make SOD hard. To overcome them, this work proposes a new SOD method based on sparse convolutional network (SCNet) and Query Mechanism called QuerySOD. First, an extended feature pyramid network is constructed for extracting feature maps of small objects with more regional details. Then, a Sparse Head is neatly designed by using SCNet for accelerating the interfering speed and obtaining weights of each layer. After that, a Query Mechanism is innovatively introduced for harvesting the benefit of sparse value feature maps from the Sparse Head. QuerySOD is evaluated on public benchmarks including COCO and VisDrone. Finally, we apply it on ‘Jinghai’ unmanned survey vehicles and receive excellent SOD performance from this real-world application.

Observation of Periodic systems: Bridge Centralized Kalman Filtering and Consensus-Based Distributed Filtering

Compared with linear time invariant systems, linear periodic system can describe the periodic processes arising from nature and engineering more precisely. However, the time-varying system parameters increase the difficulty of the research on periodic system, such as stabilization and observation. This paper aims to consider the observation problem of periodic systems by bridging two fundamental filtering algorithms for periodic systems with a sensor network: consensus-on-measurement-based distributed filtering (CMDF) and centralized Kalman filtering (CKF). Firstly, one mild convergence condition based on uniformly collective observability is established for CMDF, under which the filtering performance of CMDF can be formulated as a symmetric periodic positive semidefinite (SPPS) solution to a discrete-time periodic Lyapunov equation. Then, the closed form of the performance gap between CMDF and CKF is presented in terms of the information fusion steps and the consensus weights of the network. Moreover, it is pointed out that the estimation error covariance of CMDF exponentially converges to the centralized one with the fusion steps tending to infinity. Altogether, these new results establish a concise and specific relationship between distributed and centralized filterings, and formulate the trade-off between the communication cost and distributed filtering performance on periodic systems. Incomplete closure around the spinal cord is the underlying cause of spina bifida, a birth condition. Multiple methods exist for identifying the presence of spina bifida. Ultrasound can be used to look for spinal axis deformities. However, due to the distortion inherent in prenatal ultrasound pictures, this method requires the expertise of a skilled physician in order to pinpoint the anomaly. Examining ultrasound pictures visually may be a subjective and error-prone process. The diagnosis procedure for spinal deformities may benefit from a computerised support system that can automatically locate the site of the abnormality. An algorithm for determining whether the entire spine in an ultrasound picture is healthy or diseased would be the first step in developing such software. In this study, we combine the power of the Jellyfish Search Optimisation Algorithm (JFSOA) with a deep convolution neural network to better identify SB. Improved classification accuracy is achieved by JFSOA's optimal selection of the SDL model's learning rate. Foetal ultrasound scans taken in the second trimester are widely regarded as a useful screening technique for identifying birth defects. The foetal spine picture from an ultrasound scan taken at the 18th week of pregnancy is used. Preprocessing pipelines, such as contrast improvement, intensity modification, and denoising, are used to improve the quality of ultrasound pictures and eliminate noise. Using this method, the suggested model can reliably recognise pictures of people with spina bifida. The suggested approach accurately identifies and labels ultrasound pictures as normal or defective based on the attributes retrieved

Satellite high aerial platform terrestrial integrated networks have become the hot topic these years, which have been regarded as the major part of the intelligence of things for future networks. During this work, we investigate the secrecy performance for rate-splitting multiple access-assisted satellite high aerial platform terrestrial integrated networks. Besides, imperfect hardware and channel estimation errors are considered in the secrecy networks. Moreover, to enhance the energy utilization efficiency, rate-splitting multiple access scheme is utilized into the considered network, which is prior to that of the non-orthogonal multiple access scheme. What's more, to enhance the satellite transmission, multiple high aerial platforms are used to forward the transmission along with multiple eavesdroppers. In addition, the direct transmission link is not considered in the secrecy networks due to the heavy fading and obstacles. Relied on the former considerations, the exact and asymptotic analysis for the secrecy performance is further obtained to confirm the rightness of the analysis. Organisations and users have been experiencing significant rises in cyberattacks and their severity, which means that they require a greater awareness and understanding of the anatomy of cyberattacks, to prevent and mitigate their effects. In analysing cyberattacks, there are a number of different approaches that may be used to assess their potential risks and effects. However, these are utilised in specific types of cyberattacks and their analysis, which means they cannot be applied in every situation or cyberattack. Moreover, several other factors may influence the decision to use these approaches, such as cost, complexity, skills and adaptability. As a result, continuous research to design and enhance these approaches is undertaken to produce a generic, cost-effective, easy and adaptable approach. This paper presents one such approach to assess the risk of cyberattacks utilising an attack tree and fuzzy logic. An attack tree is a systematic and illustrative method for describing an attack on a system and analysing its taxonomy and other aspects. Subsequently, the probability and risk of each leaf node in the attack tree are calculated using the proposed formulas. Finally, fuzzy logic enables decision making based on imprecise data and heuristics to obtain the overall risk of attack. This proposed approach comprises systematic steps to accomplish an assessment of any cyberattack and its associated risks in an uncomplicated and effective manner, enabling its prevention and mitigation to be determined. The paper illustrates an application of the proposed approach to assess the risk of an information theft attack on an organisation, which can then be utilised to assess the risk of other cyberattacks.

In order to save human life and assets, the emergency management system (DMS) requires roving rescue teams to respond promptly and effectively. Installation and restoration of appropriate communication infrastructure are important for reducing the effect of disasters and enabling and coordinating information flow among relief teams working in the region. This paper describes a data collection system based on vehicular cloud network services that incorporates the advantages of both architectures of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) with the cloud to establish vehicular cloud networks (VCNs). Vehicles in the current plan perform tasks like monitoring the environment, gathering data, and transmitting data to the control center depending on their positions and instructions. To build a disaster management system, the proposed system uses hybrid wireless networking, which includes both a central system and ad hoc networks. The implementation results show that the suggested system is more dependable and efficient;even light density is improved in terms of reachability with few hops. Furthermore, as compared to the existing system, the suggested system has a lower end-to-end delay and a higher packet delivery ratio. © 2021 Malik Bader Alazzam and Fawaz Alassery.

Summary: Most studies investigating the association between physical activity and osteoporosis prevention only focused on specific types of physical activity. This study’s evidence regarding the combined effects or interaction of sleep duration and physical activity. The findings emphasize the role of sleep duration and physical activity in association with osteoporosis. Purpose: The associations between physical activity, sleep duration, and prevalent osteoporosis in Taiwanese adults were studied in this cross-sectional study. Methods: The Taiwan Biobank enrolled a community-based cohort of ~ 120,000 volunteers (as of April 30, 2020) between 30 and 76 years of age with no history of cancer. Amongst, bone mineral density (BMD) measures by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) were available in 22,402 participants. After excluding individuals who had no complete data of BMI (n = 23), MET score (n = 207), T-score (n = 8,826), and sleep duration (n = 16), 13,330 subjects were included as the primary cohort. Univariate and multivariable regression analyses were performed to determine the associations between the presence of osteoporosis, physical activity level, sleep duration, and other variables. Results: The results showed that after adjustment, subjects with physical activity < 20 METs/week and ≥ 20 METs/week (aOR = 1.017 and 0.767, respectively) were associated with risk of osteoporosis than those with zero MET. The odds of osteoporosis were not significantly lower in subjects who slept for ≥ 8 h/day (aOR = 0.934,p=0.266). In addition, compared to short sleepers with no physical activity, adults with increased physical activity ≥ 20 METs/week and sleep ≥ 8 h/day had a significantly lowest likelihood of osteoporosis (aOR = 0.702). Those with medium physical activity (< 20 METs/week) plus average sleep duration (6.5–8 h/day) did not have significant higher odds of osteoporosis (aOR = 1.129,p=0.151). Zero-shot learning (ZSL) which aims at predicting classes that have never appeared during the training using external knowledge (a.k.a. side information) has been widely investigated. In this paper we present a literature review towards ZSL in the perspective of external knowledge, where we categorize the external knowledge, review their methods and compare different external knowledge. Ranong and Chumphon provinces in Thailand pos-sess significant tourism potential due to their natural beauty and archaeological heritage. However, tourism development in the region remains limited due to inadequate information infrastructure and limited technology integration. This research presents a chatbot designed to promote tourism in these locations. The chatbot leverages a graph database built using data from the University to Tambon (U2T) project. Functioning as a virtual travel companion, it provides information on tourist attractions, accommodations, and dining options. Advanced natural language processing and machine learning enable the chatbot to under-stand user inquiries and effectively retrieve relevant information. Evaluation demonstrates strong performance with an F1-score of 99.56 for intent classification and 99.96 for named entity recognition. Testing with user-designed test cases confirmed the chatbot's functionality.
