Recogni is an AI-based application designed for the purpose of enhancing the quality for individuals who are suffering from amnesia and other memory-related challenges. This application addresses key challenges in memory management, daily task organization, and social integration through features like geofencing reminders, family sharing, and interactive memory aids and turns out to be a good companion for them. To protect user data, recogni's progressive development integrates advanced functions such as location-based notes, voice-controlled reminders, and multi-language support which are all reinforced by robust security measures. Wearable device integration, predictive analytics, and emergency assistance, are promised to be added in the ongoing development, making Recogni a versatile tool for memory care [1]. © 2024 IEEE.

A quantum algorithm for minimum steiner tree problem

Minimum Steiner tree problem is a well-known NP-hard problem. For the minimum Steiner tree problem in graphs with n vertices and k terminals, there are many classical algorithms that take exponential time in k. In this paper, to the best of our knowledge, we propose the first quantum algorithm for the minimum Steiner tree problem. The complexity of our algorithm is O∗(1.812k). A key to realize the proposed method is how to reduce the computational time of dynamic programming by using a quantum algorithm because existing classical (non-quantum) algorithms in the problem rely on dynamic programming. Fortunately, dynamic programming is realized by a quantum algorithm for the travelling salesman problem, in which Grover's quantum search algorithm is introduced. However, due to difference between their problem and our problem to be solved, recursions are different. Hence, we cannot apply their technique to the minimum Steiner tree problem in that shape. Ultrasonic examination is widely used in physical examination and various types of organ inspections because of its merits, such as no harm to human body, cheap and relative high precision. In this paper, a method is proposed to extract liver region in ultrasound images for better liver disease detection. The proposed method firstly smoothes the images by using mean shift, which makes the brightness of the whole liver region to be consistent. Then, the Fuzzy C Mean (FCM) method is used for obtaining the main part of liver region and brightness compensation is applied around the main part. Finally, image segmentation is realized by FCM and the largest foreground area in the image is segmented as the result according to the distribution and shape of the liver. The proposed method has satisfactory results in the experiment of the abdominal ultrasound image segmentation. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2017.

The Internet of Things (IoT), which allows multiple devices to be connected via the Internet, has been widely used in various fields including residential. It is very popular nowadays as it could automate home and electrical appliances without human intervention. This leads to the existence of a smart home. By automating devices at home, electricity consumption can be saved and used at an optimum level. Hence, this paper aims to contribute to the solution of saving energy consumption by deploying a low-cost modular system, that controls lights based on input parameters such as the room's brightness, occupants' presence, and motion. The proposed design uses three main sensors such as load cell sensors, motion sensors, and photoresistors. The load sensors are used to detect the occupant's weight on the bed, the motion sensors are to detect the presence of an occupant, and the photoresistors are used to detect the room's brightness. Besides, the proposed design is recommended to be integrated with any suitable intelligent system, such as back propagation neural network, to learn occupants' sleeping patterns. Finally, this work is hoped to lead in light related studies for energy saving. © 2022 IEEE.

In the current paper we consider theories with vocabulary containing a number of binary and unary relation symbols. Binary relation symbols represent labeled edges of a graph and unary relations represent unique annotations of the graph's nodes. Such theories, which we call annotation theories, can be used in many applications, including the formalization of argumentation, approximate reasoning, semantics of logic programs, graph coloring, etc. We address a number of problems related to annotation theories over finite models, including satisfiability, querying problem, specification of preferred models and model checking problem. We show that most of considered problems are NPTime- or co-NPTime-complete. In order to reduce the complexity for particular theories, we use second-order quantifier elimination. To our best knowledge none of existing methods works in the case of annotation theories. We then provide a new second-order quantifier elimination method for stratified theories, which is successful in the considered cases. The new result subsumes many other results, including those of [2, 28, 21]. © Springer 2009.

A Comparative Analysis of Conversational Large Language Models in Knowledge-Based Text Generation

Generating natural language text from graph-structured data is essential for conversational information seeking. Semantic triples derived from knowledge graphs can serve as a valuable source for grounding responses from conversational agents by providing a factual basis for the information they communicate. This is especially relevant in the context of large language models, which offer great potential for conversational interaction but are prone to hallucinating, omitting, or producing conflicting information. In this study, we conduct an empirical analysis of conversational large language models in generating natural language text from semantic triples. We compare four large language models of varying sizes with different prompting techniques. Through a series of benchmark experiments on the WebNLG dataset, we analyze the models’ performance and identify the most common issues in the generated predictions. Our findings show that the capabilities of large language models in triple verbalization can be significantly improved through few-shot prompting, post-processing, and efficient fine-tuning techniques, particularly for smaller models that exhibit lower zero-shot performance. This paper describes the AIA architecture for agents whose behavior is driven by their intentions and who reason about, and act in, changing environments. The description of the domain, written in action language AL, includes both a description of agent's environment and the Theory of Intentions which describes properties of intentions. The architecture is designed to make agents capable of explaining unexpected observations (by means of diagnostic reasoning) and determining which of his actions are intended at the present moment. Reasoning tasks are reduced to computing answer sets of CR-Prolog programs constructed automatically from the agent's knowledge. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Fingerprinting-based Indoor Positioning systems (IPS) offer several key advantages over other indoor positioning technologies, including cost-effectiveness with high accuracy and passive tracking of entities’ location without Global Positioning System (GPS) dependence. However, achieving a satisfactory accuracy performance of the WLAN fingerprinting-based IPS is still challenging, as it is affected by several factors, such as obstacles (e.g., walls and furniture) that can block or weaken wireless signals. Additionally, the IPS’s accuracy can be affected by environmental changes, such as the height, addition, or removal of a WLAN Access Point (AP) or changes in radio frequency interference. This paper presents a novel algorithm incorporating a probabilistic analytical model employing only high signal relations that mitigate the effect of low signal relation on the WLAN fingerprinting-based IPS, thus improving the accuracy performance. Furthermore, it analyses the impact of AP heights on the accuracy performance of the WLAN IPS. Upon extensive experiments, the proposed algorithm improves the accuracy of the IPS by an average of 32.74% in terms of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). These results imply that incorporating APs’ height and high signal relations can significantly improve the accuracy performance of the WLAN fingerprinting-based IPS. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

As one of the most important aspects of artificial intelligence, computer vision technologies enable intelligent systems to comprehend the real world through imaging. Despite this, there are still opportunities to enhance the development of machine vision technologies in the manufacturing industry. Many industrial systems still apply manual methods, particularly in small to medium-sized enterprises. Existing machine learning models also struggle with diverse datasets because models were mostly trained for particular datasets. Hence, creating a rational defect detection system that can be used across different imaging datasets is a crucial task for efficiency, precision, and labor relief. We present a novel machine learning model for defect detection of industrial products, fusing classification and segmentation, and crossing multiple datasets. A novel framework is established by combining classification and segmentation modules for multiple datasets. The classification uses a DenseNet model for distinct data categories, followed by the segmentation part. The developed model can benefit the industry by enhancing inspection accuracy and efficiency for multiple products. © 2023 IEEE.

BACKGROUND: Precision prevention involves using biological, behavioral, socioeconomic, and epidemiological data to improve health for a particular individual or group. With almost 63% of the global population using social media, these platforms show promise to deliver tailored messaging and personalized interventions to individuals. OBJECTIVES: To describe the personalization elements and behavior components used in a sample of precision prevention interventions delivered through social media. METHODS: To identify examples of cases, a search was done on ***, searching for 'other terms: prevention' + 'Intervention/Treatment: social media intervention' + 'study results: With results. The selected cases were described, personalization elements reported, and their adopted intervention components were coded according to the Behavior Change Wheel (BCW) framework. RESULTS: A total of four cases employing personalization in their interventions were identified. Three of these cases targeted women's health. The intervention period varied from two to eight months, with participant commitment ranging from active involvement on five out of seven days to monthly participation. The BCW interventions of persuasion and incentivization, were most frequently utilized, while education and coercion were used sparingly in the selected cases. Notably, none of the four cases reported the use of training, restrictions, or modeling. CONCLUSIONS: Social media has the potential to serve as a tool for digital phenotyping and contribute to the advancement of precision prevention. Challenges include the social media platform set-up and ensuring all ethical considerations are met. The Author(s).
