Joint Data Compression and Task Scheduling for LEO Satellite Networks

We investigate a joint data compression and task scheduling problem for Low Earth Orbit Satellite Networks (LEOSNs), to maximize the sum weights of tasks while simultaneously minimizing the total data loss. First, we propose a novel Multi-Resource Conflict Graph (MRCG) model to characterize the intertwined communication and computation allocation conflicts inherent in typical data offloading processes of LEOSNs. Leveraging the proposed MRCG model, we then formulate the studied problem for LEOSNs as a linear integer program, to maximize the normalized weighted sum of both the sum task weight and the total data loss. We further explore the intrinsic structure of the linear integer program to propose an efficient solution using the Semi-Definite Relaxation (SDR) technique. Finally, the simulation results underscore that the synergistic optimization of data compression and task scheduling significantly facilitates the data offloading efficiency of LEOSNs, and the performances surpass existing benchmarks across a broad range of system parameters. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Due to the decentralized and public nature of the blockchain ecosystem, malicious activities on the Ethereum platform impose immeasurable losses on users. At the same time, the transparency of cryptocurrency transactions provides a unique opportunity to analyze illegal activities, such as phishing scams, from a network perspective. Most existing phishing scam detection methods focus primarily on analyzing account interaction networks, which limits their ability to uncover transaction behavior patterns embedded within transaction interactions. To address this, we construct the Transaction SubGraph Network (TSGN) by using transaction subgraphs as basic elements and further propose a novel framework for Ethereum phishing account detection. Specifically, we rebuild the graph structures via three well-designed mapping mechanisms, yielding TSGN and its two variants, i.e., Directed-TSGN and Temporal-TSGN, to obtain direction-aware and time-aware transfer flow features. By further incorporating the mapping strategy into transaction multidigraphs, we develop the Multiple-TSGN, which could preserve more transaction flow features while concurrently reducing the time consumption of modeling large-scale networks. TSGN models based on transaction subgraph interactions can capture complex higher-order dependencies, which lay beyond the reach of models that exclusively capture pairwise account interactions. As a general framework, our model can incorporate various feature extraction methods to improve the performance of phishing detection. Extensive experimental results on Ethereum datasets show that our method achieves superior performance in phishing detection, yielding 3.27%∼6.71% relative improvement over previous state-of-the-art. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Manual visual inspection for defect detection in manufacturing can lead to high false positive rates. This paper compares data mining techniques for the binary classification of defects in flat products in a relatively open scenario. The background provides context on research into data mining-based detection. The methodology is divided into five sections: data collection, selection, preprocessing and transformation, classification, and model evaluation. Each section details the techniques applied, tailored to the application context, with specifying examples. Experiments apply real-world data sets self-collected from production lines. Statistics like prediction accuracy are generated by established data mining evaluation algorithms. Results indicate the efficacy of data mining for automated defect detection over manual approaches. Finally, conclusions summarize findings and discuss the limitations of the current research and planned future work to address the drawbacks. Overall, the formalized methodology and supportive experimental results demonstrate both the viability and potential areas of improvement for data mining in manufacturing quality control. © 2025, The Authors. Joint Optimization of Power Allocation and Beamforming for UAV-RIS Communication System

This paper considers the communication system assisted by a fixed-trajectory unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is equipped with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). For this UAV-RIS assisted system, we jointly optimize the power allocation and active beamforming at the base station (BS) and the passive beamforming at the RIS, by a novel phase block coordinate descent algorithm framework aimed at maximizing the system sum-rate. Specifically, the joint optimization problem is decomposed into two phases, and we propose two optimization algorithms: one for BS power allocation using fractional programming (FP) and the other for jointly optimizing active and passive beamforming using FP-manifold, which alternately optimize two phases. Simulation results not only highlight the rapid convergence and evident superiority of our proposed framework but also reveal that the optimal UAV-RIS placement is related to the flight height. © 2012 IEEE.

Intelligent Orchestrating of IoT Microservices Based on Reinforcement Learning

With the recent increase in the number of Internet of things(IoT) services, an intelligent scheduling strategy is needed to manage these services. In this paper, the problem of automatic choreography of microservices in IoT is explored. A type of reinforcement learning(RL) algorithm called TD3 is used to generate the optimal choreography policy under the framework of a softwaredefined network. The optimal policy is gradually reached during the learning procedure to achieve the goal, despite the dynamic characteristics of the network environment. The simulation results show that compared with other methods, the TD3 algorithm converges faster after a certain number of iterations, and it performs better than other non-RL algorithms by obtaining the highest reward. The TD3 algorithm can effciently adjust the traffic transmission path and provide qualified IoT services.

In this paper we deal with stochastic optimization problems where the data distributions change in response to the decision variables. Traditionally, the study of optimization problems with decision-dependent distributions has assumed either the absence of constraints or fixed constraints. This work considers a more general setting where the constraints can also dynamically adjust in response to changes in the decision variables. Specifically, we consider linear constraints and analyze the effect of decision-dependent distributions in both the objective function and constraints. Firstly, we establish a sufficient condition for the existence of a constrained equilibrium point, at which the distributions remain invariant under retraining. Moreover, we propose and analyze two algorithms: repeated constrained optimization and repeated dual ascent. For each algorithm, we provide sufficient conditions for convergence to the constrained equilibrium point. Furthermore, we explore the relationship between the equilibrium point and the optimal point for the constrained decision-dependent optimization problem. Notably, our results encompass previous findings as special cases when the constraints remain fixed. To show the effectiveness of our theoretical analysis, we provide numerical experiments on both a market problem and a dynamic pricing problem for parking based on real-world data. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

While the $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control has found widespread application in the literature for integer-order systems, researchers have shown less interest in addressing the same issue within the fractional-order framework. In this context, this study delves into the application of $$H_\infty $$ observer-based control for the Hadamard fractional-order system (HFOS) described by the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models (TSFM). Using Lyapunov approach and by employing a matrix decoupling technique, LMI based conditions ensuring the existence of an observer and controller, are proposed. To minimize the impact of disturbances on the controlled output, $$H_\infty $$ optimization technique is used. The validity of our approach is substantiated through an example, underscoring the robustness and reliability of our proposed findings.

HierDAMap: Towards Universal Domain Adaptive BEV Mapping via Hierarchical Perspective Priors

The exploration of Bird’s-Eye View (BEV) mapping technology has driven significant innovation in visual perception technology for autonomous driving. BEV mapping models need to be applied to the unlabeled real world, making the study of unsupervised domain adaptation models an essential path. However, research on unsupervised domain adaptation for BEV mapping remains limited and cannot perfectly accommodate all BEV mapping tasks. To address this gap, this paper proposes HierDAMap, a universal and holistic BEV domain adaptation framework with hierarchical perspective priors. Unlike existing research that solely focuses on image-level learning using prior knowledge, this paper explores the guiding role of perspective prior knowledge across three distinct levels: global, sparse, and instance levels. With these priors, HierDA consists of three essential components, including Semantic-Guided Pseudo Supervision (SGPS), Dynamic-Aware Coherence Learning (DACL), and Cross-Domain Frustum Mixing (CDFM). SGPS constrains the cross-domain consistency of perspective feature distribution through pseudo labels generated by vision foundation models in 2D space. To mitigate feature distribution discrepancies caused by spatial variations, DACL employs uncertainty-aware predicted depth as an intermediary to derive dynamic BEV labels from perspective pseudo-labels, thereby constraining the coarse BEV features derived from corresponding perspective features. CDFM, on the other hand, leverages perspective masks of view frustum to mix multi-view perspective images from both domains, which guides cross-domain view transformation and encoding learning through mixed BEV labels. Furthermore, this paper introduces intra-domain feature exchange data augmentation to enhance the efficiency of domain adaptation learning. Verification analysis of self-verifying automata via semi-tensor product of matrices

The semi-tensor product （STP） of matrices was used in the article, as a new matrix analysis tool, to investigate the problem of verification of self-verifying automata （SVA）. SVA is a special variant of finite automata which is essential to nondeterministic communication with a limited number of advice bits. The status, input and output symbols are expressed in vector forms, the dynamic behaviour of SVA is modelled as matrix product is STP. By such algebraic formulation, three an algebraic equation of the states and inputs, in which the necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the verification problem, by which three algorithms are established to find out all the strings which are accepted, rejected, or unrecognized by a SVA. Testing examples show the correctness of the results.
