Insulator exposed to a wild environment for long-term running usually suffers from the damage of natural calamities that makes them become one of the most fragile components in the whole power system. In this case, even a slight fault will seriously affect the power supply safety of the power grid. Therefore, it is critical to find and identify the faulty insulator efficiently and accurately. However, an insulator is quite a small component in comparison with a huge power system which makes it hard to visible with naked eyes. This characteristic leads to poor recognition accuracy for existing detection methods. In order to solve the above problems, we propose an insulator defect detection algorithm based on an improved YOLOv4-tiny model. It differs from existing insulator detection models, our algorithm applies the effective channel attention network to the feature extraction network of YOLOv4-tiny, which significantly enhances the feature extraction ability of the backbone network. These two-way features of the pyramid can be fully fused in the two-way feature fusion stages seamlessly. Experimental results show that compared with, our proposed algorithm outperforms Faster RCNN and YOLOv3 in average classification accuracy, missed detection, and false detection.

Recently, offshore wind power has rapidly developed due to its low environmental interference and abundant wind resources. However, due to its remote geographical location and high demand for communication infrastructure, off-shore wind turbines (OWTs) are vulnerable to potential threats from false data injection (FDI) attack. FDI attack can interfere with active power control strategies by tampering with the rotor speed data measured by sensors and pose a threat to the stability of the power grid. To ensure that OWTs can accurately track the active power instructions set by wind farm's control center under FDI attack, this paper proposes a rotor speed control (RSC) strategy based on Kalman filtering technology (RSC- KF). This strategy can estimate the rotor speed of the wind turbine in real-time, and then a residual detection and compensation mechanism is designed to effectively detect and correct attacked rotor speed information caused by FDI attack. Further, based on the corrected rotor speed, the RSC method is developed, which can flexibly switch control strategies according to different rotor speed values, ensuring the efficient operation of OWTs under different wind speed conditions. The proposed approach's effectiveness is proved via simulations conducted on the OpenFAST platform.

This research focuses on exploring the exponential $$H_\infty $$ stability of general conformable nonlinear system. In order to address the nonlinearity inherent in the system, a polynomial fuzzy (PF) method is employed. Modeling a general conformable nonlinear system within the polynomial framework reduces the number of fuzzy rules compared to the classical Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy (TSF). Furthermore, controlling such a complex system, which accounts for perturbations, employs a PF model instead TSF model to describe its nonlinear dynamics, and incorporates a general conformable derivative instead of an integer-order one, is significantly more challenging, and remains unaddressed in previous studies. In this paper, a PF controller is designed in the form of sum of squares (SOS) to enhance the resilience against perturbations and ensure the exponential stability of the proposed model. The proposed SOS can be solved numerically, and partially symbolically, using the recently developed SOSTOOLS. In order to ensure the $$H_\infty $$ performance, a generalized criterion is defined for the general conformable nonlinear system. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, a numerical example is provided.

Nine-degrees-of-freedom (9-DoF) object pose and size estimation is crucial for enabling augmented reality and robotic manipulation. Category-level methods have received extensive research attention due to their potential for generalization to intra-class unknown objects. However, these methods require manual collection and labeling of large-scale real-world training data. To address this problem, we introduce a diffusion-based paradigm for domain-generalized category-level 9-DoF object pose estimation. Our motivation is to leverage the latent generalization ability of the diffusion model to address the domain generalization challenge in object pose estimation. This entails training the model exclusively on rendered synthetic data to achieve generalization to real-world scenes. We propose an effective diffusion model to redefine 9-DoF object pose estimation from a generative perspective. Our model does not require any 3D shape priors during training or inference. By employing the Denoising Diffusion Implicit Model, we demonstrate that the reverse diffusion process can be executed in as few as 3 steps, achieving near real-time performance. Finally, we design a robotic grasping system comprising both hardware and software components. Through comprehensive experiments on two benchmark datasets and the real-world robotic system, we show that our method achieves state-of-the-art domain generalization performance.

GITANet: Group Interactive Threshold-based Attention Network for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Group convolution networks have shown great potential in hyperspectral image (HSI) classification because of their ability to divide total spectral bands into multiple groups and focus on fine discrimination within different spectral ranges. Most group convolution networks process parallel spectral groups independently;however, they neglect the important relevance of nearby spectral ranges. Moreover, the feature maps from different spectral groups are not considered for recalibration in the existing attention. To address these issues, we propose a novel group interactive threshold attention network (GITANet). In the network, a stratified-split-concatenation strategy, which not only splits all bands into multiple groups for intragroup convolution but also propagates the intergroup information via the stratified concatenation operation between different groups, is designed for bandwise group convolution. Relying on the high dependencies among nearby spectra, the cross-group interactive attention block is designed to encourage significant spectral features. Subsequently, from different spectral ranges, a learnable threshold generation block is built to estimate the information validity of each pixel. On the basis of this threshold, soft threshold spatial attention is developed in the bandwise encoderdecoder architecture, which emphasizes high-value spatial areas during the fusion of group convolutional features. Therefore, complementary and discriminative spectral-spatial features are obtained to improve the performance of HSI classification. The experimental results on three HSI datasets illustrate that GITANet is superior to several state-of-the-art networks. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Previous studies have shown gender differences in cognitive function and the prevalence of some neurological diseases. Understanding gender differences in functional connectivity (FC) will provide a new perspective for understanding these differences. We wanted to develop an effective model for the gender prediction and identify the major source of gender differences in functional connectivity. In this study we used FC generated from functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) from the Human Connectome Project in 1038 healthy subjects. We apply deep learning to test whether functional connectivity networks can effectively predict gender and identify the main sources of gender differences in FC. The accuracy of predicting gender by using the functional connectivity network has reached more than 90%, and we found that there are significant gender differences in the FC of interhemispheric brain areas and the FC in the right hemisphere, and in addition to the previously discovered default mode network (DMN), frontoparietal network (FPN), somatomotor network (SMN), there were gender differences in visual network (VIN), auditory network (AUN), and dorsal attention network (DAN) as well, and the gender differences within each resting-state network (RSN) were also large. Our results suggest that gender differences exist in functional connectivity networks and certain subnetworks can be focused on when studying gender-related cognitive functions and neurological disorders.

EdgePro: Edge Deep Learning Model Protection via Neuron Authorization

With the development of deep learning processors and accelerators, deep learning models have been widely deployed on edge devices as part of the Internet of Things. Edge device models are generally considered as valuable intellectual properties that are worth for careful protection. Unfortunately, these models have a great risk of being stolen or illegally copied. The existing model protections using encryption algorithms are suffered from high computation overhead which is not practical due to the limited computing capacity on edge devices. In this work, we propose a light-weight, practical, and general Edge device model Protection method at neuron level, denoted as EdgePro. Specifically, we select several neurons as authorization neurons and set their activation values to locking values and scale the neuron outputs as the "passwords" during training. EdgePro protects the model by ensuring it can only work correctly when the "passwords" are met, at the cost of encrypting and storing the information of the "passwords" instead of the whole model. Extensive experimental results indicate that EdgePro can work well on the task of protecting on datasets with different modes. The inference time increase of EdgePro is only 60% of state-of-the-art methods, and the accuracy loss is less than 1%. Additionally, EdgePro is robust against adaptive attacks including fine-tuning and pruning, which makes it more practical in real-world applications. Halide perovskites exhibit high performance in all sorts of optoelectronic and photonic areas, suggesting their huge potential in integrated photonic devices. However, until now, all optical logic gates based on perovskites are still rarely explored, hindering the development of all-optical networks and computing. Herein, a new concept of all-optical logic gates is proposed based on the modulation of photoluminescence(PL) from perovskite nanocrystals(PNCs). A hierarchical photonic crystal(Hie PhC) is developed by self-assembling polystyrene(PS) and SiO2nanoparticles, which exhibit a higher PL enhancement than that of a monolayer PhC. Moreover, the light-controlled PL is realized by taking advantage of the high thermal response of the PL from PNCs/Hie PhC on polyethylene(PE) substrate, assisted by a graphene layer for light-heat conversion. Consequently, optical diode and triode are achieved based on the modulated PL, which exhibit contrast ratios(CR) of 24.7 and 74.0 dB, ***-optical logic gates, including “AND”, “OR” and “NOT”, are realized based on the optical diode and triode.

The study of electric vehicles (EVs) aims to address the critical challenges of promoting widespread adoption. These challenges include EVs’ high upfront costs compared to conventional vehicles, the need for more sufficient charging stations, limitations in battery technology and charging speeds, and concerns about the distance EVs can travel on a single charge. This paper is dedicated to designing an innovative strategy to handle EV charging station arrangement issues in different cities. Our research will support the development of sustainable transportation by intelligently replying to the challenges related to short ranges and long recharging times through the distribution of fast and ultra-fast charge terminals by allocating demand to charging stations while considering the cost variable of traffic congestion. A hybrid combination of Dynamic Greylag Goose Optimization (DGGO) algorithm, as well as a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model, is employed in this approach to determine, in a cost-sensitive way, the location of the parking lots, factoring in the congestion for traffic as a variable. This study examines in detail the experiments on the DGGO + LSTM model performance for the purpose of finding an efficient charging station place. The results show that the DGGO + LSTM model has achieved a stunning accuracy of 0.988,836, more than the other models. This approach shapes our finding’s primary purpose of proposing solutions in terms of EV charging infrastructure optimization that is fully justified to the EV’s wide diffusion and mitigating of the environmental consequences. Reduced Network Cumulative Constraint Violation for Distributed Bandit Convex Optimization under Slater’s Condition

This paper studies the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. To calculate network cumulative constraint violation, existing distributed bandit online algorithms solving this problem directly use the clipped constraint function to replace its original constraint function. However, the use of the clipping operation renders Slater’s condition (i.e, there exists a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations) ineffective to achieve reduced network cumulative constraint violation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new distributed bandit online primal–dual algorithm. If local loss functions are convex, we show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{c,1−c})network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the total number of iterations and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds, the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). In addition, if local loss functions are strongly convex, for the case where strongly convex parameters are unknown, the network regret bound is reduced to O(T1−c), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is O(T1−c/2) and O(T1−c) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. For the case where strongly convex parameters are known, the network regret bound is further reduced to O)(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is among the first to establish reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) bandit convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater’s condition.
