Monitoring is critical enabler of digitalization in modern manufacturing, supporting enhanced process control, quality assurance, and real-time decision-making. By integrating data-driven techniques with the powerful capabilities of deep learning, monitoring systems can efficiently extract valuable insights from complex, high-dimensional time-series data. However, traditional data-driven approaches often lack interpretability, limiting their adoption in industrial applications that demand high reliability and accountability. To address this challenge, this paper proposes an interpretable monitoring framework based on a deep temporal neural network (DTNN). Designed with a modular architecture, the DTNN integrates key components for embedding, temporal feature learning and classification, enabling it to effectively capture complex underlying patterns in temporal process data and overcome the limitations of conventional methods. The DTNN’s capabilities are demonstrated in the context of micro-electrical discharge machining (micro-EDM), a prominent non-traditional machining process known for producing intricate and high-precision components. Through a pulse discrimination task utilizing a large dataset of reliable labels, the DTNN achieves superior classification accuracy under varying processing parameters while providing interpretable insights into discharge phenomena. Furthermore, the DTNN monitoring approach is applied to a deep-hole drilling process in micro-EDM, enabling closed-loop control of discharge status and ensuring long-term process stability. The DTNN’s modular design, interpretability and real-time adaptability underscore its potential for advancing data-driven monitoring systems in digital manufacturing.

At the moment, digital documents are just as important as paper documents. As a result, authenticity is essential, especially in legal situations and digital forensics. As technology advances, these digital signature algorithms become weaker, necessitating the development of digital authentication schemes capable of withstanding current security threats. This study proposed a scheme based on an asymmetric key cryptosystem and the user's biometric credentials to generate keys for digital signatures. A single document can be signed by multiple signatories at the same time under this scheme. The primary goal of this article is to create a safe and cost-effective multiignature scheme. To create keys for document signing and verification, the Edwards-curve Digital Signature Algorithm (EdDSA), especially Ed25519, is employed. The Edwards-curve Digital Signature Algorithm is used with blockchain technology to sign crypto wallets. The Python implementation of a scheme that enables platform independence. We performed performance, security, and comparative analysis to ensure maximum usability. The article's main findings are that the Ed25519 algorithm can be used in blockchain. © 2023 Gauri Shankar et al.

Neural Radiance Fields have shown great potential to synthesize novel views with only a few discrete image observations of the world. However, the requirement of accurate camera parameters to learn scene representations limits its further application. In this paper, we present adaptive positional encoding (APE) for bundle-adjusting neural radiance fields to reconstruct the neural radiance fields from unknown camera poses (or even intrinsics). Inspired by Fourier series regression, we investigate its relationship with the positional encoding method and therefore propose APE where all frequency bands are trainable. Furthermore, we introduce period-activated multilayer perceptrons (PMLPs) to construct the implicit network for the high-order scene representations and fine-grained gradients during backpropagation. Experimental results on public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method with APE and PMLPs can outperform the state-of-the-art methods in accurate camera poses and high-fidelity view synthesis.

In this paper, we propose an Industrial Semantic Communications (ISC) framework to ensure efficient and in-telligent communication in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) networks, and further apply the proposed framework to the task of tool wear monitoring. A semantic-aware tool wear monitoring network (TWM-Net) is designed to accurately identify the idling state from tool wear data, thus assisting the semantic data transmission process of the ISC framework. Then, a demo software system is implemented to verify the delay performance of the proposed ISC framework. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed ISC framework can facilitate the semantic information exchange between edge industrial system and cloud platform together with the deep compressed sensing method, and significantly reduce the amount of data transmissions in IIoT networks. Machine learning is a key component of many applications, among which decentralized learning has attracted wide attention because of its cost-effectiveness and high efficiency. However, decentralized learning is vulnerable to various Byzantine attacks. Existing defense models face challenges in defending against complex attacks and are often constrained by strict network topologies. To address this issue, a parameter aggregation rule based on reputation evaluation (RPV) is proposed in this paper. This rule establishes a reputation model for neighboring nodes and continuously updates it based on their distance performance during each iteration. By applying the reputation model of neighboring nodes to the Beta distribution, their reliability is obtained. Based on the reliability of neighboring nodes, the set of reliable nodes for this iteration and select parameter values from them for aggregation are determined. Finally, we gradually eliminate the influence of Byzantine nodes. Our experimental results on the MNIST dataset demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is resilient to attacks from any number of Byzantine nodes and outperforms previous defense models in terms of network topology constraints, training accuracy, and computational costs.

Solar energy is a clean and simple method of electricity generation. This electricity is utilized for various purposes, ranging from modest electrical gadgets and cars to major enterprises, satellites, and space exploration. The title of this project, "Solar tracking system with light-dependent resistors and a stepper motor controlled by a microcontroller" alludes to the project’s purpose, which is to harvest as much solar energy as possible from a solar panel throughout the day using a specific Sun tracking mechanism. To do this, a mechanism was developed that tracks the sun’s position and rotates the solar panel correspondingly so that it receives maximum sunlight at all times of the day. This is accomplished by mounting a stepper motor and a couple of light-dependent resistors (LDRs) on the solar panel, which adjusts its orientation based on the location of the sun. This project has three primary components: the solar panel, the stepper motor, and the LDRs. Microcontroller, sensor, and stepper motor. For this aim, an Arduino UNO microcontroller has been utilized. It accepts an output signal from a sensor as input, processes it, and controls stepper motors based on the supplied program. A stepper motor is attached to the shaft on which a panel is positioned to raise and lower the panel. Since maximal solar rays always strike the surface of the solar panel module, it is possible to obtain maximum power output, increasing its total efficiency as compared to the static panel.

The label-embedded dictionary learning (DL) algorithms generate influential dictionaries by introducing discriminative information. However, there exists a limitation: All the label-embedded DL methods rely on the labels due that this way merely achieves ideal performances in supervised learning. While in semi-supervised and unsupervised learning, it is no longer sufficient to be effective. Inspired by the concept of self-supervised learning (e.g., setting the pretext task to generate a universal model for the downstream task), we propose a Self-Supervised Dictionary Learning (SSDL) framework to address this challenge. Specifically, we first design a p-Laplacian Attention Hypergraph Learning (pAHL) block as the pretext task to generate pseudo soft labels for DL. Then, we adopt the pseudo labels to train a dictionary from a primary label-embedded DL method. We evaluate our SSDL on two human activity recognition datasets. The comparison results with other state-of-the-art methods have demonstrated the efficiency of SSDL. © 2021 IEEE computer Society. All rights reserved.

Detecting pedestrians plays a crucial role in various computer vision applications such as surveillance, public security, intelligent transportation systems, improved safety for vulnerable road users, and driving assistance systems. Unsupervised pedestrian re-identification (re-ID) enables the full utilization of existing data resources by feature extraction and clustering pedestrian images. It promotes the development of sustainable computing system design. However, in unsupervised re-ID approaches, the progress of clustering updates is typically inconsistent because of the limits of convolutional neural networks in obtaining fine-grained cues from features. To address this issue, we proposed the double-branch transformer and clustering contrastive learning (DBTCC) method for unsupervised re-ID tasks. Specifically, we designed a double-branch structure (DBST) based on an improved vision transformer to obtain multi-granularity local and global features by reshaping and averaging operations on the extracted feature. Furthermore, we constructed a cluster-level memory dictionary so that a unique cluster representation describes each cluster. In addition, we applied cluster contrastive learning for updating features, which addresses the consistency issue in cluster updating. The multi-granularity features retrieved by DBST improved the clustering outcomes, and the consistency of clustering can also be maintained effectively throughout the pipeline. Extensive experiments have demonstrated that DBTCC shows significant improvements compared to pure unsupervised methods on the Market-1501, DukeMTMC-reID, and MSMT17 datasets. © 2023, The Authors.
