Cutting out an object and estimating its opacity mask, known as image matting, is a key task in image and video editing. Due to the highly ill-posed issue, additional inputs, typically user-defined trimaps or scribbles, are usually needed to reduce the uncertainty. Although effective, it is either time consuming or only suitable for experienced users who know where to place the strokes. In this work, we propose a decomposed-uncertainty-guided matting (dugMatting) algorithm, which explores the explicitly decomposed uncertainties to efficiently and effectively improve the results. Basing on the characteristic of these uncertainties, the epistemic uncertainty is reduced in the process of guiding interaction (which introduces prior knowledge), while the aleatoric uncertainty is reduced in modeling data distribution (which introduces statistics for both data and possible noise). The proposed matting framework relieves the requirement for users to determine the interaction areas by using simple and efficient labeling. Extensively quantitative and qualitative results validate that the proposed method significantly improves the original matting algorithms in terms of both efficiency and efficacy. A Unified Blockchain-Semantic Framework for Wireless Edge Intelligence Enabled Web 3.0

Web 3.0 enables user-generated contents and user-selected authorities. With decentralized wireless edge computing architectures, Web 3.0 allows users to read, write, and own contents. A core technology that enables Web 3.0 goals is blockchain, which provides security services by recording content in a decentralized and transparent manner. However, the explosion of on-chain recorded contents and the fast-growing number of users cause increasingly unaffordable computing and storage resource consumption. A promising paradigm is to analyze the semantic information of contents that can convey precisely the desired meanings without consuming many resources. In this article, we propose a unified blockchain-semantic ecosystems framework for wireless edge intelligence-enabled Web 3.0. Our framework consists of six key components to exchange semantic demands. We then introduce an Oracle-based proof of semantic mechanism to implement on-chain and off-chain interactions of Web 3.0 ecosystems on semantic verification algorithms while maintaining service security. An adaptive Deep Reinforcement Learning-based sharding mechanism on Oracle is designed to improve interaction efficiency, which can facilitate Web 3.0 ecosystems to deal with varied semantic demands. Dynamic multiobjective optimization problems (DMOPs) present significant challenges to conventional evolutionary optimization methods because of the continuous changes in their Pareto-optimal sets (PSs) and fronts (PFs). Prediction-driven approaches have demonstrated potential in rapidly adapting to these changes. However, many existing methods depend on linear models to forecast the evolving PSs, which may be restrictive. To counteract this limitation, this research presents a novel dynamic multiobjective evolutionary optimization algorithm that incorporates predictions from long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. Initially, in our methodology, the PS for each problem is segmented into multiple clusters, and the centroid of each cluster is identified. These cluster centroids, representing the PSs across various environmental conditions, are then transformed into a series of time series data. The LSTM network models are subsequently trained on this time series data as input samples. Utilizing these refined models, the centroids of the evolving PSs are predicted with improved precision. Moreover, to enhance the performance of the algorithm, an innovative population-generation strategy is also introduced that guarantees a well-converged and diverse starting population. Our proposed algorithm undergoes rigorous testing using benchmark functions, and the outcomes validate its proficiency in tackling DMOPs, showing superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2024, The Authors. Facial expression recognition plays a pivotal role in comprehending emotions and social interactions, particularly in individuals grappling with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who often encounter challenges in non-verbal communication. For some with ASD, even subtle shifts in their facial expressions can prove elusive, rendering it arduous to categorize their emotional states accurately. Consequently, the analysis and processing of facial expression data hold the potential to facilitate early autism diagnosis, thereby enabling timely therapeutic interventions and alleviating the economic and psychological burdens experienced by patients. In this study, we introduce an enhanced approach that leverages a fuzzy convolutional neural network (CNN) and an Improved Binary Genetic Algorithm (IBGA) for autism diagnosis based on facial expression data. Our model confronts the intricate task of recognizing facial images by selecting salient features employing the IBGA method. Moreover, it employs fuzzy weights to ascertain the probability of similarity within the classifier layer. Our proposed model has yielded impressive outcomes, boasting an average accuracy of 0.9405 for ASD detection and 0.9365 for the recognition of six distinct facial expressions. These results hold profound implications for the enhancement of emotion recognition systems and the refinement of interventions aimed at bolstering social interactions for individuals grappling with ASD. © 2024, The Authors. CLeBPI: Contrastive Learning for Bug Priority Inference

Automated bug priority inference can reduce the time overhead of bug triagers for priority assignments, improving the efficiency of software maintenance. Currently, there are two orthogonal lines for this task, i.e., traditional machine learning based (TML-based) and neural network based (NN-based) approaches. Although these approaches achieve competitive performance, our observation finds that existing approaches face the following two issues: 1) TML-based approaches require much manual feature engineering and cannot learn the semantic information of bug reports;2) Both TML-based and NN-based approaches cannot effectively address the label imbalance problem because they are difficult to distinguish the semantic difference between bug reports with different priorities. In this paper, we propose CLeBPI (Contrastive Learning for Bug Priority Inference), which leverages pre-trained language model and contrastive learning to tackle the above-mentioned two issues. Specifically, CLeBPI is first pre-trained on a large-scale bug report corpus in a self-supervised way, thus it can automatically learn contextual representations of bug reports without manual feature engineering. Afterward, it is further pre-trained by a contrastive learning objective, which enables it to distinguish semantic differences between bug reports, learning more precise contextual representations for each bug report. When finishing pre-training, we can connect a classification layer to CLeBPI and fine-tune it for bug priority inference in a supervised way. To verify the effectiveness of CLeBPI, we choose four baseline approaches and conduct comparison experiments on a public dataset. The experimental results show that CLeBPI outperforms all baseline approaches by 23.86%-77.80% in terms of weighted average F1-score, showing its effectiveness. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In this paper, we focus on the resource optimization issue in Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) section of a novel Biomedical Cyber Physical System (BM-CPS) in which the Digital Twin (DT) technique is adopted concurrently. We propose a scenario where multiple physiological sensor nodes continuously monitor the electrophysiology signals from patients and connect to a Cyber Managing Center (Cyb-MC) in a wireless way to transmit the physiological indices to the paramedic reliably. Specifically, to optimize the energy efficiency of physiological sensors while ensuring the reliability of emergency-critical electrophysiology signals transmissions and modeling the uncertain stochastic environments, the optimization issue is transformed into a Markov Decision Process (MDP) in terms of joint transmission mode, relay assignment, transmission power and time slot scheduling consideration. Subsequently, we propose a Random Graph-enabled Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (RG-DDPG) scheme to tackle the challenge while releasing computing complexity. In addition, as an innovative paradigm for reshaping cyberspace applications, the DT of WBAN is created to capture the time-varying resource status, where virtualized and intelligent resource management can be performed uniformly. Finally, extensive simulation studies verified the advancement of the proposed scheme and demonstrated that the DT can mirror the topology, predict the behavior, and administrate the resources of the WBANs. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Pedestrian detection under occlusion scenes remains a formidable challenge in computer vision. Recently, anchor-free approach has been raised on the object detection and pedestrian detection field, anchor-free detector Center and Scale Prediction (CSP) has been proposed in pedestrian detection without special measures for occlusion. In this paper, we propose an anchor-free detector named OCSP with power ful occlusion handling ability to existing anchor-free detection network. OCSP integrates prior information into the network to handle occlusion. This high-fusion prior information gives the detector a hint about identifying the structural features of pedestrians. OCSP becomes more robust with the prior information which fusion the semantic head, the visible part, and the size and center body for each pedestrian. The detector enhances the perception of occlusion by predicting the semantic head and visible part. Besides, we design a head branch and add predicting the visible box to achieve a similar result. Experiments show that this fusion of prior information represents a suitable combination. We compare our OCSP with state-of-arts models on the Citypersons dataset, the proposed OCSP detector achieves the state-of-arts result on the CityPersons benchmark. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Clear imagery of retinal vessels is one of the critical shreds of evidence in specific disease diagnosis and evaluation, including sophisticated hierarchical topology and plentiful-and-intensive capillaries. In this work, we propose a new topology- and shape-aware model named Multi-branch Vessel-shaped Convolution Network (MVCN) to adaptively learn high-resolution representations from retinal vessel imagery and thereby capture high-quality topology and shape information thereon. Two steps are involved in our pipeline. The former step is proposed as Multiple High-resolution Ensemble Module (MHEM) to enhance high-resolution characteristics of retinal vessel imagery via fusing scale-invariant hierarchical topology thereof. The latter is a novel vessel-shaped convolution that captures the retinal vessel topology to emerge from unrelated fundus structures. Moreover, our MVCN of separating such topology from the fundus is a dynamical multiple sub-label generation via using epistemic uncertainty, instead of manually separating raw labels to distinguish definitive and uncertain vessels. Compared to other existing methods, our method achieves the most advanced AUC values of 98.31%, 98.80%, 98.83%, and 98.65%, and the most advanced ACC of 95.83%, 96.82%, 97.09%,and 96.66% in DRIVE, CHASE_DB1, STARE, and HRF datasets. We also employ correctness, completeness, and quality metrics to evaluate skeletal similarity. Our method's evaluation metrics have doubled compared to previous methods, thereby demonstrating the effectiveness thereof. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The manipulators actuated by Pneumatic Artificial Muscles (PAMs) are characterized by high nonlinearity and time varying of their coefficients. Therefore, nonlinear and robust controllers are required to cope with these challenging control problems. This work presents the development of control design for trajectory tracking of PAM-Actuated manipulator based on Sliding Mode control (SMC). The PSO technique is used to tune the design parameters of proposed controller for further enhancement of controlled PAM system performance. A comparison study has been conducted between the optimal and non-optimal SMC controllers via computer simulation using MATLAB programming software. © 2021 IEEE.

With the impact of African swine fever, the survival rate of domestic pigs has sharply decreased, and pork prices continue to rise. Many unscrupulous elements obtain illegal profits by avoiding inspection and quarantine, processing sick and dead pigs, and injecting water, etc. Unquarantined meat products pose serious food safety risks. In this context, we propose a machine learning based risk identification method for illegal slaughter of live pigs. Firstly, we use the RetinaNet algorithm to detect live pig transport vehicles and use a dual residual network to Super-Resolution the vehicle area in the detected image to improve facial clarity. Subsequently, the ArcFace algorithm is used to match the facial information with the ex-convicts, and finally, the Location of vehicles passing through, time, frequency and facial analysis results are combined for calculation and scoring and provide the risk warning for illegal slaughter of live pigs. © 2023 IEEE.
