Accurate and efficient floor localization with scalable spiking graph neural networks

Evolutionary Trainer-Based Deep Q-Network for Dynamic Flexible Job Shop Scheduling

Dynamic flexible job shop scheduling (DFJSS) aims to achieve the optimal efficiency for production planning in the face of dynamic events. In practice, deep Q-network (DQN) algorithms have been intensively studied for solving various DFJSS problems. However, these algorithms often cause moving targets for the given job-shop state. This will inevitably lead to unstable training and severe deterioration of the performance. In this paper, we propose a training algorithm based on genetic algorithm to efficiently and effectively address this critical issue. Specifically, a state feature extraction method is first developed, which can effectively represent different job shop scenarios. Furthermore, a genetic encoding strategy is designed, which can reduce the encoding length to enhance search ability. In addition, an evaluation strategy is proposed to calculate a fixed target for each job-shop state, which can avoid the parameter update of target networks. With the designs, the DQNs could be stably trained, thus their performance is greatly improved. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art peer competitors in terms of both effectiveness and generalizability to multiple scheduling scenarios with different scales. In addition, the ablation study also reveals that the proposed algorithm can outperform the DQN algorithms with different updating frequencies of target networks. IEEE

Physical information-enhanced graph neural network for predicting phase separation

Although phase separation is a ubiquitous phenomenon, the interactions between multiple components make it difficult to accurately model and predict. In recent years, machine learning has been widely used in physics simulations. Here,we present a physical information-enhanced graph neural network(PIENet) to simulate and predict the evolution of phase separation. The accuracy of our model in predicting particle positions is improved by 40.3% and 51.77% compared with CNN and SVM respectively. Moreover, we design an order parameter based on local density to measure the evolution of phase separation and analyze the systematic changes with different repulsion coefficients and different Schmidt *** results demonstrate that our model can achieve long-term accurate predictions of order parameters without requiring complex handcrafted features. These results prove that graph neural networks can become new tools and methods for predicting the structure and properties of complex physical systems.

User cold-start recommendation aims to provide accurate items for the newly joint users and is a hot and challenging problem. Nowadays as people participant in different domains, how to recommend items in the new domain for users in an old domain has become more urgent. In this paper, we focus on the Dual Cold-Start Cross Domain Recommendation (Dual-CSCDR) problem. That is, providing the most relevant items for new users on the source and target domains. The prime task in Dual-CSCDR is to properly model user-item rating interactions and map user expressive embeddings across domains. However, previous approaches cannot solve Dual-CSCDR well, since they separate the collaborative filtering and distribution mapping process, leading to the error superimposition issue. Moreover, most of these methods fail to fully exploit the cross-domain relationship among large number of non-overlapped users, which strongly limits their performance. To fill this gap, we propose User Distribution Mapping model with Collaborative Filtering (UDMCF), a novel end-to-end cold-start cross-domain recommendation framework for the Dual-CSCDR problem. UDMCF includes two main modules, i.e., rating prediction module and distribution alignment module. The former module adopts one-hot ID vectors and multi-hot historical ratings for collaborative filtering via a contrastive loss. The latter module contains overlapped user embedding alignment and general user subgroup distribution alignment. Specifically, we innovatively propose unbalance distribution optimal transport with typical subgroup discovering algorithm to map the whole user distributions. Our empirical study on several datasets demonstrates that UDMCF significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art models under the Dual-CSCDR setting. © 2024 ACM.

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation on Point Clouds via High-Order Geometric Structure Modeling

Point clouds can capture the precise geometric information of objects and scenes, which are an important source of 3-D data and one of the most popular 3-D geometric data structures for cognitions in many real-world applications like automatic driving and remote sensing. However, due to the influence of sensors and varieties of objects, the point clouds obtained by different devices may suffer obvious geometric changes, resulting in domain gaps that are prone to the neural networks trained in one domain failing to preserve the performance in other domains. To alleviate the above problem, this article proposes an unsupervised domain adaptation framework, named HO-GSM, as the first attempt to model high-order geometric structures of point clouds. First, we construct multiple self-supervised tasks to learn the invariant semantic and geometric features of the source and target domains, especially to capture the feature invariance of high-order geometric structures of point clouds. Second, the discriminative feature space of target domain is acquired by using contrastive learning to refine domain alignment to specific class level. Experiments on the PointDA-10 and GraspNetPC-10 collection of datasets show that the proposed HO-GSM can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art counterparts. © 2020 IEEE.

Aggregate Plant Species Categorization with Deep CNN Based Positional Encoded Cross Attentional Mechanism

Plants plays a major role in the life of humans. It offers food, medicines, fibers, wood, spices, perfume, oil, and paper. Besides, it minimizes soil erosion and prevents air pollution. Particularly, the piper plant is used around the world for various applications. It comprises of several species, which is useful for humans in enormous ways like medicine, food, ornaments, etc. For that reason, the classification of plants is necessary to utilize the exact plants for appropriate applications. The traditional way of plant classification are time consuming, less accurate and require skilled professionals. To resolve this, several conventional researches utilized technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to classify plant species but lacks in few limitations such as accuracy and speed. Therefore, the proposed system employ Positional Encoded Cross Attention Mechanism-Deep Convolutional Neural Network (PECAM-DCNN) system for the classification of all plants and piper plant species. The DCNN is used for the capability of handling larger datasets and accuracy. Though, it is the effective classifier, it still have few limitations like noise, speed and over-fitting of data. To resolve this, the respective method used Adaptable normalization with positional encoded cross attention mechanism to enhance the speed, accuracy, denoise task and prevent over fitting of data. The positional encoding in the cross attentional mechanism capture significant features at abundant scales and minimize loss in spatial resolution. Further, the efficiency of the projected system is calculated using performance metrics to evaluate the efficacy of the system. Predicting Age and Gender in Author Profiling: A Multi-Feature Exploration

Author Profiling (AP) is a subsection of digital forensics that focuses on the detection of the author’s personalinformation, such as age, gender, occupation, and education, based on various linguistic features, e.g., stylistic,semantic, and syntactic. The importance of AP lies in various fields, including forensics, security, medicine, andmarketing. In previous studies, many works have been done using different languages, e.g., English, Arabic, French,***, the research on RomanUrdu is not up to the ***, this study focuses on detecting the author’sage and gender based on Roman Urdu text messages. The dataset used in this study is Fire’18-MaponSMS. Thisstudy proposed an ensemble model based on AdaBoostM1 and Random Forest (AMBRF) for AP using multiplelinguistic features that are stylistic, character-based, word-based, and sentence-based. The proposed model iscontrasted with several of the well-known models fromthe literature, including J48-Decision Tree (J48),Na飗e Bays(NB), K Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Composite Hypercube on Random Projection (CHIRP), NB-Updatable,RF, and AdaboostM1. The overall outcome shows the better performance of the proposed AdaboostM1 withRandom Forest (ABMRF) with an accuracy of 54.2857% for age prediction and 71.1429% for gender predictioncalculated on stylistic features. Regarding word-based features, age and gender were considered in 50.5714% and60%, respectively. On the other hand, KNN and CHIRP show the weakest performance using all the linguisticfeatures for age and gender prediction.

Deep learning framework for automatic detection and classification of sleep apnea severity from polysomnography signals

Sleep apnea (SA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder characterized by breathing pauses during sleep. A person’s sleep schedule is significantly influenced by that person’s hectic lifestyle, which may include unhealthy eating habits and their line of work. Polysomnographic (PSG) sleep studies examine sleep-related disorders by recording various biosignals from the human body. However, SA classification methods could be more robust in terms of performance because they rely on feature-engineering strategies or employ a particular signal from PSG recording for diagnosis. This study aims to classify the severity of SA according to the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) into normal, mild, and moderate-to-severe groups using oxygen saturation (SpO2), electroencephalogram (EEG), and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The proposed deep neural network (DNN)-bidirectional long short-term memory (DNN-BiLSTM) framework addresses the issue of low detection accuracy in analysis. The DNN-BiLSTM approach employs features extracted from a multiscale dilation attention 1D convolutional neural network (MSDA-1DCNN) as input for detection and classification purposes. The MSDA-1DCNN network extracts deep features from processed SpO2, EEG, and ECG signals. The developed firefly combined electric fish optimization (FCEFO) algorithm improves performance by optimizing the hidden neuron count of the DNN and the learning rate of the BiLSTM framework. The performance measures proved the effectiveness of the model over conventional machine and deep learning approaches. With the integration of deep features, the proposed DNN-BiLSTM model provides enhanced performance in terms of accuracy and precision.
