Metasurface is a kind of artificial layered material whose thickness is less than the wavelength, which can flexibly and effectively control the polarization, amplitude, phase, polarization mode and propagation mode of electromagnetic waves. In this paper, a split ring metasurface structure with two openings is designed to excite Fano resonance by breaking the symmetry of the structure. Based on the finite element method (FEM), the asymmetric splitting ring of Thz metsurface is studied. It is shown that the peak value of Fano resonance and the quality factor (Q) can be modulated by changing the inner and outer diameters of the splitting ring. The Fano resonance is very sensitive to the asymmetry of the structure. A small asymmetry will excite the Fano resonance with high intensity, high quality factor and very narrow resonance linewidth. The refractive index sensitivity of the designed sensor reaches 7.23THz/RIU, and the Q value is up to 93.33. It can be used as a sensor to monitor the ambient refractive index, ambient temperature and liquid concentration. © 2024 IEEE.

Face Detection Based on Improved Multi-task Cascaded Convolutional Neural Networks

With the development of deep learning and computer vision, face detection has achieved rapid progress owing. Face detection has several application domains, including identity authentication, security protection, media, and entertainment. Although multi-task cascaded convolutional neural networks (MTCNN) have high accuracy and robustness, the model has the disadvantages of large parameters and computational overhead in the real scene due to the complexity of the real scene and the constraints of hardware facilities. Therefore, the development of an improved network model is crucial. This paper improves the MTCNN model by reducing the number of parameters and the computational overhead and using better model parameters to locate the key points of the face. This model improves the accuracy and robustness of the face age estimation. The WiderFace and CelebA datasets are used for training. The final face detection accuracy reaches 98.7% while simultaneously reducing the number of model parameters to 70% under the same conditions. This model meets the application needs of modern society for face detection and demonstrates the efficiency and accuracy of the improved network model. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Distribution,enrichment mechanism and risk assessment for fluoride in groundwater:a case study of Mihe-Weihe River Basin,China

Due to the unclear distribution characteristics and causes of fluoride in groundwater of Mihe-Weihe River Basin(China),there is a higher risk for the future development and utilization of ***,based on the systematic sampling and analysis,the distribution features and enrichment mechanism for fluoride in groundwater were studied by the graphic method,hydrogeochemical modeling,the proportionality factor between conventional ions and factor *** results show that the fluorine content in groundwater is generally on the high side,with a large area of medium-fluorine water(0.5–1.0 mg/L),and high-fluorine water is chiefly in the interfluvial lowlands and alluvial-marine plain,which mainly contains HCO_(3)·Cl-Na-and HCO_(3)^(-)Na-type *** vertical zonation characteristics of the fluorine content decrease with increasing depth to the water *** high flouride groundwater during the wet season is chiefly controlled by the weathering and dissolution of fluorine-containing minerals,as well as the influence of rock weathering,evaporation and *** weak alkaline environment that is rich in sodium and poor in calcium during the dry season is the main reason for the enrichment of ***,an integrated assessment model is established using rough set theory and an improved matter element extension model,and the level of groundwater pollution caused by fluoride in the Mihe-Weihe River Basin during the wet and dry seasons in the Shandong Peninsula is defined to show the necessity for local management measures to reduce the potential risks caused by groundwater quality.

BaO-Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2/YAG:Ce: A novel YAG:Ce glass-ceramic with excellent fluorescent properties for phosphor-converted white LEDs

YAG:Ce glass-ceramic has been proved to be an outstanding fluorescent material for high-power phosphor-converted white LEDs. However, the existing methods for preparing the YAG:Ce glass-ceramic are very complex, time-consuming and energy-intensive. Here, we report a novel YAG:Ce glass-ceramic (BaO-Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2/YAG:Ce) with excellent fluorescent properties, which can be easily and quickly obtained by firing the powder mixture composed of BaCO3, Y2O3, CeO2, Al2O3 and SiO2 at 1580 °C for 1 h. The YAG phase was confirmed as the sole crystal phase and YAG grains are evenly dispersed in the BaO-Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 glass host. The fluorescence quantum yield of the prepared YAG:Ce glass-ceramic excited at 453 nm is as high as 98.36 %, and its fluorescence intensity at 125 °C still remains 91.4 % of the value at 25 °C. The optical performance of the white LED lamp made by employing the YAG:Ce glass-ceramic as a light converter is as good as that of a commercial white LED lamp, with Ra = 69.2, CCT = 6530 K and CIE 1931 chromaticity values as (x = 0.3111, y = 0.3372). The results indicate that BaO-Y2O3-Al2O3-SiO2/YAG:Ce is an excellent phosphor with great application prospects in phosphor-converted white LEDs. In addition, this work also provides a novel and enlightening method for preparing the YAG:Ce glass-ceramic. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Preparation and property studies of ferric sulfoaluminate cement based on Bayer red mud and phosphogypsum

The Bayer red mud (RM) and phosphogypsum (PG) accumulation have caused significant environmental contamination. However, practical and effective resource utilization technologies are still lacking currently. This work aims to develop ferric sulfoaluminate cement (FSAC) employing low-cost materials including Bayer red mud, phosphogypsum, and other materials. This method effectively improves the utilization rate of Bayer red mud and phosphogypsum. Under the premise of ensuring the performance of FSAC, the utilization rate of solid waste can reach up to 48.56%. The effects of different red mud dosages on cement mineral formation, workability, and mechanical properties are investigated. Then, untreated phosphogypsum is adopted as a retarder for FSAC, and the hydration process, working properties, mechanical properties, types of hydration products, and morphology of FSAC are explored. The results suggest that the crystal transformation of Ye’elemite C4A3S¯ is promoted with the increase of Bayer red mud content. Cubic crystal system Ye’elemite C4A3S¯-c with higher hydration activity is generated, which increases the early strength of cement but greatly reduces the setting time, hindering the later strength growth. Untreated phosphogypsum can effectively delay the early hydration process of FSAC, prolong the setting time of cement, and increase the strength of FSAC in the later stage. When the dosage of Bayer red mud and phosphogypsum is 17.64% and 9.21%, respectively, with phosphogypsum dosage of 20%, the prepared FSAC has satisfactory mechanical properties, and the 3-day and 90-day compressive strengths are 34.6 MPa and 57.1 MPa, respectively. In addition, the study of heavy metal leaching indicates that the FSAC prepared by Bayer red mud, phosphogypsum, and other raw materials will generate no environment pollution, and the solidification of heavy metal elements in the cement slurry is superior. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, p

The promotion and application of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) suffer from the lack of effective sharing of research and design (R&D) resources among enterprises in the networked collaborative design environment. This paper establishes a cross-enterprise R&D resource sharing incentive evolutionary game model, which considers multiple factors about resource sharers, sharing process and shared resource value information. The model analyses how various factors influence the evolution trend of sharing behavior. In addition, in order to realize the dynamic multidimensional evaluation and feedback of shared R&D resources and promote the positive development of resource sharing, this paper establishes a new dynamic double-objective resource evaluation model. The digital information resource in R&D resources is taken as an example to carry out experimental simulation and verification. Compared with the traditional evaluation methods, the new dynamic double-objective evaluation model established in this paper owns better performance on improving the cross-enterprise R&D resources collaborative sharing and further promoting the deep integration between R&D resources and R&D process under the networked collaborative design and MBSE development mode than others. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

A Novel Reliable and Trust Objective Function for RPL-Based IoT Routing Protocol

The Internet of Things (IoT) integrates diverse devices into the Internet infrastructure, including sensors, meters, and wearable devices. Designing efficient IoT networks with these heterogeneous devices requires the selection of appropriate routing protocols, which is crucial for maintaining high Quality of Service (QoS). The Internet engineering Task Force’s Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks (IETF ROLL) working group developed the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) to meet these needs. While the initial RPL standard focused on single-metric route selection, ongoing research explores enhancing RPL by incorporating multiple routing metrics and developing new Objective Functions (OFs). This paper introduces a novel Objective Function (OF), the Reliable and Secure Objective Function (RSOF), designed to enhance the reliability and trustworthiness of parent selection at both the node and link levels within IoT and RPL routing protocols. The RSOF employs an adaptive parent node selection mechanism that incorporates multiple metrics, including Residual Energy (RE), Expected Transmission Count (ETX), Extended RPL Node Trustworthiness (ERNT), and a novel metric that measures node failure rate (NFR). In this mechanism, nodes with a high NFR are excluded from the parent selection process to improve network reliability and stability. The proposed RSOF was evaluated using random and grid topologies in the Cooja Simulator, with tests conducted across small, medium, and large-scale networks to examine the impact of varying node densities. The simulation results indicate a significant improvement in network performance, particularly in terms of average latency, packet acknowledgment ratio (PAR), packet delivery ratio (PDR), and Control Message Overhead (CMO), compared to the standard Minimum Rank with Hysteresis Objective Function (MRHOF).

In recent years, with the continuous application of intelligent unmanned technology, network optimization of Intelligent Unmanned Wireless Sensor Networks (IUWSNs) has emerged as a research hotspot. However, due to the limitations imposed by sensor size, the sensing capabilities of small wireless sensors in IUWSN s are restricted. To achieve higher network performance, it is crucial to devise suitable and efficient task allocation schemes. Therefore, a novel Adaptive Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (AHPSO) is proposed for efficient task allocation in IUWSN s. Firstly, AHPSO significantly enhances the efficiency of task distribution in IUWSN s, thereby markedly improving network benefits. Secondly, the new adaptive mechanism, by dynamically adjusting algorithm parameters, greatly increases the diversity of population solutions and accelerates the convergence speed of the algorithm. Additionally, a new simulated annealing strategy created in this study effectively prevents the algorithm from falling into local optima. Finally, extensive simulation experiments were conducted comparing AHPSO with Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA). The results demonstrate that AHPSO markedly outperforms other methods in enhancing task allocation efficiency and overall network performance of IUWSNs. © 2024 IEEE.
