A Sentence Retrieval Generation Network Guided Video Captioning

Currently,the video captioning models based on an encoder-decoder mainly rely on a single video input *** contents of video captioning are limited since few studies employed external corpus information to guide the generation of video captioning,which is not conducive to the accurate descrip-tion and understanding of video *** address this issue,a novel video captioning method guided by a sentence retrieval generation network(ED-SRG)is proposed in this ***,a ResNeXt network model,an efficient convolutional network for online video understanding(ECO)model,and a long short-term memory(LSTM)network model are integrated to construct an encoder-decoder,which is utilized to extract the 2D features,3D features,and object features of video data *** features are decoded to generate textual sentences that conform to video content for sentence ***,a sentence-transformer network model is employed to retrieve different sentences in an external corpus that are semantically similar to the above textual *** candidate sentences are screened out through similarity ***,a novel GPT-2 network model is constructed based on GPT-2 network *** model introduces a designed random selector to randomly select predicted words with a high probability in the corpus,which is used to guide and generate textual sentences that are more in line with human natural language *** proposed method in this paper is compared with several existing works by *** results show that the indicators BLEU-4,CIDEr,ROUGE_L,and METEOR are improved by 3.1%,1.3%,0.3%,and 1.5%on a public dataset MSVD and 1.3%,0.5%,0.2%,1.9%on a public dataset MSR-VTT *** can be seen that the proposed method in this paper can generate video captioning with richer semantics than several state-of-the-art approaches.

Rational design of defected carbons adjacent to nitrogen(N)dopants is a fascinating but challenging approach for enhancing the catalytic performance of N-doped ***,the combined effect of heteroatom doping and defect engineering can efficiently increase the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)ability of inactive carbons through charge ***,we report that an enhanced built-in electric field caused by the combined effect of N-doping and carbon defects in the twodimensional(2D)mesoporous N-doped carbon nano flakes(NCNF)is a promising technique for improving ORR *** a result,the NCNF exhibits more promising ORR activity than Pt/C and similar performance with reported robust *** experimental and theoretical investigations suggest that topologically defected carbon adjacent to the graphitic valley nitrogen is a real active site,rendering optimal energy for the adsorption of ORR intermediates and lowering the total energy barrier for ***,NCNF-based Zn-air batteries exhibited an excellent power density and specific capacity of~121.10 mW cm^(-2)and~679.86 mA h g_(Zn)^(-1),*** study not only offers new insights into defected carbons with graphitic valley N for ORR but also proposes novel catalyst design principles and provides a solid grasp of the built-in electric field effect on the ORR performance of defective catalysts.

The nonlinear filtering problem has enduringly been an active research topic in both academia and industry due to its ever-growing theoretical importance and practical *** main objective of nonlinear filtering is to infer the states of a nonlinear dynamical system of interest based on the available noisy measurements. In recent years, the advance of network communication technology has not only popularized the networked systems with apparent advantages in terms of installation,cost and maintenance, but also brought about a series of challenges to the design of nonlinear filtering algorithms, among which the communication constraint has been recognized as a dominating concern. In this context, a great number of investigations have been launched towards the networked nonlinear filtering problem with communication constraints, and many samplebased nonlinear filters have been developed to deal with the highly nonlinear and/or non-Gaussian scenarios. The aim of this paper is to provide a timely survey about the recent advances on the sample-based networked nonlinear filtering problem from the perspective of communication constraints. More specifically, we first review three important families of sample-based filtering methods known as the unscented Kalman filter, particle filter,and maximum correntropy filter. Then, the latest developments are surveyed with stress on the topics regarding incomplete/imperfect information, limited resources and cyber ***, several challenges and open problems are highlighted to shed some lights on the possible trends of future research in this realm.

To solve the problem of low efficiency involved in manually inserting power sockets into soft wires, a new system called an automatic insertion wire device of mechanical arm as a part of intelligent agents has been designed. It has a manipulator end lead channel actuator, a two-degree-of-freedom manipulator, a scissor bending mechanism and a control system. A coordinate system has been established for kinematics analyses and inverse kinematics solution. The joint angles of the manipulator when reaching the terminal hole of the power socket are 47.7° and 91.3° for joint angles 1 and 2, respectively. The motions of the scissor bending mechanism are analyzed using a coordinate system, and the rotation angle of support rod 1 is found to be 32.3° after the completion of soft wire bending. A model of the actuator and scissor bending mechanism is created using SolidWorks, and motion simulations are carried out to verify the insertion of soft wire. A prototype is built and tested, which demonstrates that the angle variation range of the soft wire head part due to push block movement is between 58° and 63°, while the angle variation range of the shear fork bending mechanism to other parts of the soft wire is between 168° and 173°. All parameters meet the anticipated goal, effectively resolving the problem of low efficiency. © 2024 SPIE.

In vitro binding capacities, physicochemical properties and structural characteristics of polysaccharides fractionated from Passiflora edulis peel

This study aimed to determine structural characteristics, physical properties and binding effects of polysaccharide and its fractions from Passiflora edulis peel on lipid, cholesterol and bile acids. The crude polysaccharide (WPEP) was extracted using hot water extraction method, fractionated using DEAE-52 cellulose column, and purified by Sepharose CL-6B column to obtain four polysaccharide fractions (WPEP-F1, WPEP-F2, WPEP-F3, and WPEP-F4). The physicochemical properties and structural characteristics were analyzed using several methods. The chemical-binding effects were also determined. Among all polysaccharide samples, WPEP-F2 had the highest total sugar content (77.63%). The viscosity of all polysaccharide samples was increased. Among the four polysaccharide fractions, WPEP-F2 showed the best emulsifying activity. WPEP-F1 was mainly composed of glucose, galactose, mannose, and arabinose, whereas WPEP-F2, WPEP-F3, and WPEP-F4 were principally composed of galacturonic acid. SEM analysis showed that the four fractions had different microstructures. Among the polysaccharide components, WPEP-F2 had the highest lipid-binding effect (9.3 g/g). It also had the best binding effect on taurocholic acid, deoxycholic acid, glycocholic acid, and cholesterol (50.87%, 69.12%, 30.22%, and 78.68%, respectively), but WPEP-F3 had the best binding effect on cholic acid (53.99%). The lipid, cholesterol, and bile acid-binding activities of WPEP-F2 could be attributed to its high viscosity, porous appearance structure, and sugar content in addition to its triple helix structure. The findings lay a theoretical foundation for developing Passiflora edulis peel polysaccharide-related foods and promoting application of the peel polysaccharide in functional food industries.

Traditional single-modal radio frequency fingerprinting (RFF) approaches often suffer from limitations such as sensitivity to environmental changes and limited discriminative power. Therefore, this paper takes Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) devices as an example to build an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system based on a specific frame format and proposes a USRP equipment identification method that integrates differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) constellation trajectory diagrams with logarithmic differences of adjacent synchronization symbols to enhance the accuracy of Internet of Things (IoT) device identification. The experimental results demonstrate that the dual-feature fusion method proposed in this paper outperforms other single-feature methods, including Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) signals, I/Q signals, the Difference of the logarithm of the spectrum (Dolos), and Differential Constellation Trace Figure (DCTF), making it an effective radio frequency fingerprinting technique. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to solve the problem of high cost and low efficiency in manual welding of power socket welding components, a soldering robot arm system was developed. The gripper, 5-DOF manipulator, clamp, support, and control system were designed. The coordinate system of the robot arm was constructed, and the working space of the robot arm was analyzed by using the MATLAB robot toolbox. It was concluded that the x0 coordinate range of the welding working area was [175mm, 215mm], the y0 coordinate range was [55mm, -55mm], and the z0 coordinate was 90mm. At the same time, the motion trajectory of the robot arm was determined. Using Raspberry PI as a controller, the control system is developed by programming Python language. The prototype is made, and a welding test is carried out. The test shows that the system has completed the welding operation, and the welding effect is good. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Clustering is crucial for analyzing heterogeneous information networks (HINs). Mainly state-of-the-art algorithms often focus on single-type node clustering, overlooking the clustering of multiple node types and requiring manual setting of cutoff distances and clustering centers. This paper introduces a clustering algorithm integrating multi-type objects, named MTOClus, which generates multiple similarity matrices for different node types and assigns weights to each matrix to indicate their significance. By aggregating weighted similarity matrices, it creates a distance matrix. MTOClus automates cluster center selection through node sorting and mitigates the impact of outliers by utilizing the K-Nearest Neighbors approach to compute the cutoff distance. Experimental results across four datasets consistently show that MTOClus outperforms six other algorithms, underscoring its superior clustering efficacy. © 2025 SPIE.

Event-triggered tracking control for a class of nonholonomic systems in chained form

In this study, the event-triggered asymptotic tracking control problem is considered for a class of nonholonomic systems in chained form for the time-varying reference input. First, to eliminate the ripple phenomenon caused by the imprecise compensation of the time-varying reference input, a novel time-varying event-triggered piecewise continuous control law and a triggering mechanism with a time-varying triggering function are developed. Second, an explicit integral input-to-state stable Lyapunov function is constructed for the time-varying closed-loop system regarding the sampling error as the external input. The origin of the closed-loop system is shown to be uniformly globally asymptotically stable for any global exponential decaying threshold signals, which in turn rules out the Zeno behavior. Moreover, infinitely fast sampling can be avoided by appropriately tuning the exponential convergence rate of the threshold signal. A numerical simulation example is provided to illustrate the proposed control approach.
