In the field of medical image analysis, the accurate segmentation of brain tumors plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of brain-related diseases. This study aims to address key challenges in this domain, with a particular focus on improving feature extraction, information integration, and model generalization capabilities. By concurrently introducing multi-dimensional attention mechanisms in convolutional operations, a method has been developed to dynamically generate convolution kernels in spatial, input channel, and output channel dimensions. This approach optimizes the limitations of traditional static convolutional kernels, maintaining high-performance efficiency while reducing the model's parameter count. To overcome the deficiencies of traditional convolutional networks in capturing global information, channel and spatial attention mechanisms have been integrated between convolutional layers. This enhances adaptability and global information retrieval capabilities, allowing the model to dynamically adjust the weight of feature maps based on different task requirements. Leveraging the advantages of Vision Transformer in handling global information and addressing its limitations in capturing details and training on small datasets, the algorithm aligns and learns feature representations effectively by incorporating channel attention and normalizing attention weights within its multi-head attention. When applied to the BraTs2021 multi-modal brain tumor image database, the proposed algorithm accurately delineates brain tumor regions, demonstrating excellent performance. © 2024 IEEE.

The proliferation of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in various applications has necessitated the exploration of network architectures that can ensure efficient, scalable, and reliable communication. This study presents a comparative performance evaluation of traditional networking paradigms and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based architectures within WSN. Utilizing the Floodlight SDN controller and Mininet-WiFi emulator, we conducted a series of experiments across three different network topologies, varying the number of hosts and access points. The performance metrics focused on are average latency, packet loss percentage, and throughput. The results demonstrate a considerable improvement in all measured parameters under the SDN-based environment compared to the traditional setup. Specifically, SDN environments consistently showcased lower latency, minimal packet loss, and higher throughput, with the most notable difference observed in smaller network configurations. The findings suggest that SDN, with its centralized control plane, can significantly enhance the performance of WSNs, particularly in scenarios demanding rapid scalability and dynamic traffic management. This study underscores the potential of SDN architectures in optimizing WSN operations and lays the groundwork for future research in this domain. © 2024, Politechnica university of Bucharest. Pressure performance for a thin-walled ring and turbulent-jet orifice modeled elastic squeeze film damper

This paper explores an analytical model for Elastic Ring Squeeze Film Damper(ERSFD) with thin-walled ring and turbulent-jet orifices, and uncovers its Oil Film Pressure Performance(OFPP). Firstly, the ring deformation is addressed by using the Fourier series expansion approach and the orifice outflow rate is characterized with the Prandtl boundary layer theory. Secondly, applying finite difference scheme, the influence of elastic ring flexibility, orifice diameter, and attitude angle on the OFPP is analyzed. Finally, Outer chamber pressure was measured experimentally at different rotor speeds. The results indicate that the outer chamber pressure coats an individual load-carrying region and spreads symmetrically pertaining to the attitude angle. Its amplitude drops as the elastic ring flexibility decreases but boosts with the reduction of the orifice *** inner chamber pressure, the orifice diameter effects a similar trend to the outer cavity, but exhibits more stable distribution regarding the attitude angle. Minimizing the elastic ring flexibility causes an increase in amplitude. The model is validated by the test results giving that the outer chamber pressure shifts synchronously and periodically with the variation of the attitude angle,while the pressure amplitude increases slightly at higher rotor speeds.

Diabetes is a common disease that causes complications in the eyes known as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). It aids in discovering the DR and tends to be the main cause behind people’s blindness amidst the previous decades. For prevent the complications of DR and to control the level of blood Glucose, the timely and crucial diagnosis is essential. A model is provided for detecting the DR. Here, Light Spectrum Tasmanian Devil Optimization (LSTDO) is utilized with SpinalNet for DR detection. The method undergoes an adaptive median filter and Region of interest mining process to generate a pre-processed image. The Sparse Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) is adapted for segmenting the optic disks followed by feature extraction. Then, the Hough line transformation with Tyler Coye algorithm (HLTCA) is used for blood vessel segmentation. Concurrently, the Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT) is adapted to input image to overwhelm the deficiency of translation-invariance issue and then the feature mining is done. The feature vector is generated by unifying the outputs of the three-feature extraction phases and is employed to detect DR. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity obtained by the LSTDO-based SpinalNet are 91.6%, 89.9% and 92.1%, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.
