Evaluation of surface temperature and pressure derived from MERRA-2 and ERA5 reanalysis datasets and their applications in hourly GNSS precipitable water vapor retrieval over China

Temperature and pressure play key roles in Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) precipitable water vapor(PWV) retrieval. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) and European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ECMWF) have released their latest reanalysis product: the modern-era retrospective analysis for research and applications, version 2(MERRA-2) and the fifthgeneration ECMWF reanalysis(ERA5), respectively. Based on the reanalysis data, we evaluate and analyze the accuracy of the surface temperature and pressure products in China using the the measured temperature and pressure data from 609 ground meteorological stations in 2017 as reference *** the accuracy of the two datasets and their performances in estimating GNSS PWV are analyzed. The PWV derived from the pressure and temperature products of ERA5 and MERRA-2 has high accuracy. The annual average biases of pressure and temperature for ERA5 are-0.07 hPa and 0.45 K, with the root mean square error(RMSE) of 0.95 hPa and 2.04 K, respectively. The annual average biases of pressure and temperature for MERRA-2 are-0.01 hPa and 0.38 K, with the RMSE of 1.08 h Pa and 2.66 K, *** accuracy of ERA5 is slightly higher than that of MERRA-2. The two reanalysis data show negative biases in most regions of China, with the highest to lowest accuracy in the following order: the south,north, northwest, and Tibet Plateau. Comparing the GNSS PWV calculated using MERRA-2(GNSS MERRA-2 PWV) and ERA5(GNSS ERA5 PWV) with the radiosonde-derived PWV from 48 co-located GNSS stations and the measured PWV of the co-location radiosonde stations, it is found that the accuracy of GNSS ERA5 PWV is better than that of GNSS MERRA-2 PWV. These results show the different applicability of surface temperature and pressure products from MERRA-2 and ERA5 data, indicating that both have important applications in meteorological research and GNSS water vapor monitoring in China.

Using the SCRM method to repair a damaged planning graph for service composition

Software, hardware, data, and computing power can be abstracted and encapsulated as services authorised to users in a paid or free manner for on demand deployment. Service composition combines multiple existing services in a certain logical order to solve complex tasks that a single service cannot complete. Many AI approaches have been proposed to solve service composition problems. However, the network environment is dynamic, and services in a composition may disappear or change. Furthermore, the composition requirement of a user may also vary. The composition plan should adjust accordingly. This paper proposes a repairing service composition approach based on a planning graph. We repair a solution from the last layer, then search backward for missing services. Return a repaired solution until a satisfactory result is obtained. To verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our approach, experiments are carried out compared with some repair methods and replanning approaches. Experimental results indicate that our approach has an average 5.05% higher chance of finding a solution compared to the original repair method. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

ShennongMGS: An LLM-based Chinese Medication Guidance System

The rapidly evolving field of Large Language Models (LLMs) holds immense promise for healthcare, particularly in medication guidance and adverse drug reaction prediction. Despite their potential, existing LLMs face challenges in dealing with complex polypharmacy scenarios and often grapple with data lag issues. To address these limitations, we introduce an LLM-based Chinese medication guidance system, called ShennongMGS, specifically tailored for robust medication guidance and adverse drug reaction predictions. Our system transforms multi-source heterogeneous medication information into a knowledge graph and employs a two-stage training strategy to construct a specialized LLM (ShennongGPT). This method enables the simulation of professional pharmacists' decision-making processes and incorporates the capability for knowledge self-updating, thereby significantly enhancing drug safety and the overall quality of medical services. Rigorously evaluated by medical professionals and artificial intelligence experts, our method demonstrates superiority, outperforming existing general and specialized LLMs in performance. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Surface Defect Detection Algorithm for Strip Steel Based on Improved YOLOv7 Model

This research proposes a refined deep learning framework aimed at boosting the precision and efficacy of detecting surface imperfections in strip steel. This method integrates enhancement and simplification techniques inspired by the You Only Look Once version 7 (YOLOv7) detection method, resulting in significant enhancements in the model's accuracy, speed, and flexibility. The substitution of ELAN with Bottleneck Transformer 3 (BoT3) leads to improved accuracy and mean Average Precision (mAP) values, while also introducing a more lightweight network architecture. The incorporation of the Involution mechanism enhances the model's feature extraction capabilities, thereby improving its ability to recognize small targets through the utilization of local perceptual fields. The ASPP_CA architecture leverages a multi-scale feature fusion technique along with an attention mechanism to reduce model parameters and enhance inference speed. Furthermore, it extends the model's receptive field, allowing it to capture additional visual information. The enhanced algorithm, denoted as YOLOv7-IBA, demonstrates empirical results that underscore its superiority over the three current state-of-the-art detection techniques in identifying surface flaws on strip steel. The accuracy has been improved to 82.9%, representing a significant increase of 7.2% compared to the previous performance. Furthermore, the mean mAP value has experienced a 3.2% increase, reaching a total of 79.9%. Moreover, there has been a remarkable 8.8% improvement in efficiency. The adoption of this approach holds the potential to enhance both the precision and productivity of strip surface flaw detection, while also providing valuable methodological support for the advancement of other related disciplines. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Drug-Target Interactions Prediction Based on Signed Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks

Drug-target interactions(DTIs) prediction plays an important role in the process of drug *** computational methods treat it as a binary prediction problem, determining whether there are connections between drugs and targets while ignoring relational types information. Considering the positive or negative effects of DTIs will facilitate the study on comprehensive mechanisms of multiple drugs on a common target, in this work, we model DTIs on signed heterogeneous networks, through categorizing interaction patterns of DTIs and additionally extracting interactions within drug pairs and target protein pairs. We propose signed heterogeneous graph neural networks(SHGNNs), further put forward an end-to-end framework for signed DTIs prediction, called SHGNN-DTI,which not only adapts to signed bipartite networks, but also could naturally incorporate auxiliary information from drug-drug interactions(DDIs) and protein-protein interactions(PPIs). For the framework, we solve the message passing and aggregation problem on signed DTI networks, and consider different training modes on the whole networks consisting of DTIs, DDIs and PPIs. Experiments are conducted on two datasets extracted from Drug Bank and related databases, under different settings of initial inputs, embedding dimensions and training modes. The prediction results show excellent performance in terms of metric indicators, and the feasibility is further verified by the case study with two drugs on breast cancer.
