Microstructure and tribological performances of Cr3C2- and B4C-added CoCrFeNiMo HEA coatings prepared by laser cladding

The inadequate wear durability of CoCrFeNiMo high-entropy alloy coatings poses great challenges to achieving reliable surface protection for engineering components. This study strategically addresses this limitation by incorporating ceramic carbide particles. The pure CoCrFeNiMo (P0), CoCrFeNiMo-10wt%Cr3C2 (CrC10), and CoCrFeNiMo-10wt%B4C (BC10) composite coatings were deposited onto Q235 substrate utilizing laser cladding. Those coatings' structural characteristics, mechanical properties, tribological behavior, and wear mechanisms were analyzed and compared. The P0 coating was composed of FCC and σ phases with a herringbone-like hierarchical eutectic structure, showing good fracture toughness (10.7–24.61 MPa·m1/2). The Cr3C2-added coating had a typical dendrite structure, and the primary phase from FCC gradually transformed upward into the σ phase. Adding B4C particles induced plenty of carbides and borides precipitation such as MoC, M7C3, and Fe3(B, C) in BC10 coating. Adding carbide particles promoted the solid solution strengthening of C and B atoms and in-situ precipitation of reinforcement phases, significantly enhancing the hardness. The hardnesses of P0, CrC10, and BC10 coatings were 652.8, 744.3, and 1162.1 HV0.2, respectively. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of the Mo-rich hardening phase and lubricating oxide layer, the BC10 coating achieved the lowest wear rate (9.8 × 10−6 mm3·N−1·m−1), showing an order-of-magnitude improvement over the P0 and CrC10 coatings. The P0 and CrC10 coatings predominantly exhibited abrasive wear modes. Surprisingly, the worn surface of the BC10 coating was very slight without detectable scratches or delamination, which was dominated by oxidative wear. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Writing comprehensive commit messages is tedious yet important, because these messages describe changes of code, such as fixing bugs or adding new features. However, most existing methods focus on either only the changed lines or nearest context lines, without considering the effectiveness of selecting useful contexts. On the other hand, it is possible that introducing excessive contexts can lead to noise. To this end, we propose a code model COMMIT (Context-aware prOMpting based comMIt-message generaTion) in conjunction with a code dataset CODEC (COntext and metaData Enhanced Code dataset). Leveraging program slicing, CODEC consolidates code changes along with related contexts via property graph analysis. Further, utilizing CodeT5+ as the backbone model, we train COMMIT via context-aware prompt on CODEC. Experiments show that COMMIT can surpass all compared models including pre-trained language models for code (code-PLMs) such as CommitBART and large language models for code (code-LLMs) such as Code-LlaMa. Besides, we investigate several research questions (RQs), further verifying the effectiveness of our approach. Tunnelling has increasingly become an essential tool in the exploration of underground space.A typical construction problem is the face instability during tunnelling,posing a great threat to associated *** face instability often occurs with the soil arching *** study investigates the combined effect of cutterhead opening ratio and soil non-uniformity on soil arching effect and face stability,via conducting random finite-element analysis coupled with Monte–Carlo *** results underscore that the face stability is strongly associated with the evolution of stress *** obtained stability factors in the uniform soils can serve as a reference for the design of support pressure in practical tunnelling *** addition,non-uniform soils exhibit a lower stability factor than uniform soils,which implies that the latter likely yields an underestimated probability of face *** tunnel face is found to have a probability of failure more than 50%if the spatial non-uniformity of soil is *** the end,a practical framework is established to determine factor of safety(FOS)corresponding to different levels of probability of face failure considering various opening ratios in non-uniform *** required FOS is 1.70 to limit the probability of face instability no more than 0.1%.Our findings can facilitate the prediction of probability of instability in the conventionally deterministic design of face pressure.

Effects of MgO on the microstructure and thermal shock properties of 8YSZ

To enhance the application of 8YSZ ceramics in high-temperature environments, ongoing efforts have focused on improving their thermal shock resistance. In this study, MgO was introduced as a second phase to modify the thermal shock resistance of 8YSZ ceramics, and the effect of MgO content on the microstructure, mechanical properties and thermal characteristics of 8YSZ ceramics was systematically investigated. With the addition of MgO, the solid solution reaction improved the sintering properties of 8YSZ, resulting in the relative density increased from 92.0 % of 8YSZ to 93.7 % of 12 wt% MgO doped 8YSZ ceramics. The presence of the second phase MgO and the microcracks caused by the mismatch in coefficients of thermal expansion between 8YSZ and MgO deflected the cracks generated in the samples during thermal shock. Consequently, the thermal damage resistance parameter of the samples was increased and the thermal shock fracture resistance parameter was not significantly reduced. Results from cooling at room temperature quenching experiments and the calculation of the thermal damage resistance parameter (R' ' ' ') demonstrated an improved thermal shock resistance in MgO doped 8YSZ ceramics, with an increase in the residual flexural strength ratio (RFSR) from 48.69 % of 8YSZ to 67.25 % of 12 wt% MgO doped 8YSZ ceramics. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Blockchain has unlimited possibilities to break through many application areas. Cloud service is an on-demand service paradigm that facilitates the availability of shared resources for data storage and computing. Last several years, the combination of blockchain and cloud services has attracted much attention to ensure efficiency, openness, safety and even provide better cloud services in the form of novel service models. In order to develop the all potential of blockchain and cloud integration, it is significance that have a clear comprehension of current work in this area. None of the current overviews covers blockchain cloud integration from a service-oriented perspective. This article aims to outline the service orientation of blockchain integration to fill this vacancy. This overview explores different service models that integrate blockchain. Clinical research highlights the interaction between human-residing microorganisms and drug efficacy/toxicity, making microbes innovative targets for antibacterial drug development. The growing availability of microbiome and drug data offers opportunities to use machine learning to predict microbedrug associations, enhancing research and development. Previous computational approaches typically learned microbe representations from the entire graph of microbe-drug associations. Drugs exhibit different mechanisms of action for various microbes, while learning drug representations remains static and agnostic to different microorganisms. When the same microbe interacts with different drugs, it becomes crucial to discern relevant contextual information. With this in mind, we introduce a novel method, MDPAGCN, which utilizes a dual-attention GCN to extract contextual information from microbe-drug pairs within larger microbe-drug association graphs. We then employ a graph convolutional network to learn feature representations for specific microbe-drug subgraphs. Treating microbe-drug associations as a graph classification task, we generate a fixed-size matrix that integrates graph representations using an attention pooling layer, and the graphs are classified using a fully connected module. Experimental results under different cross-validation settings show that our proposed method outperforms seven benchmark methods. A case study on the prediction of microbe-drug associations further demonstrates the effectiveness of our proposed MDPAGCN method. © 2024 IEEE.

A high gain vertical polarization omnidirectional antenna is proposed, with overall size of 250mm×16mm×1mm. A double U-shaped symmetrical dipole oscillator is used as radiation oscillator, and then four radiation elements are formed into a series-fed antenna array. Meanwhile, two four-element series-fed arrays are connected in parallel, feeding in the parallel center. All antenna elements are direct connected by microstrip lines. With the popularity of cloud native and DevOps, container technology is widely used and combined with microservices. The deployment of container-based microservices in distributed cloud-edge infrastructure requires suitable strategies to ensure the quality of service for users. However, the existing container orchestration tools cannot flexibly select the best deployment location according to the user's cost budget, and are insufficient in personalized deployment solutions. From the perspective of application providers, this paper considers the location distribution of users, application dependencies, and server price differences, and proposes a genetic algorithm-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) application deployment strategy for personalized cost budgets. The application deployment problem is defined as an optimization problem that minimizes user service latency under cost constraints. This problem is an NP-hard problem, and genetic algorithm is introduced to solve the optimization problem effectively and improve the deployment efficiency. The proposed algorithm is compared with four baseline algorithms, Time-Greedy, Cost-Greedy, Random and PSO, using real datasets and some synthetic datasets. The results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other competing baseline algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.
