Significant TCP unfairness in wireless local networks has been reported during the past several years. This unfairness results from the greedy TCP protocol and shared wireless medium. To solve the unfairness problem between uplink TCP flows, we proposed a scheduling algorithm called uplink weighted fair queueing (UWFQ). By adjusting the service weight of ACK packets, UWFQ achieves the channel adaptive fairness between uplink TCP flows. Analysis and simulation results show that UWFQ not only improves the fairness greatly, but also achieves higher total network throughput.

Based on elastic-thin-plate bending theory, elastic-foundation theory and key strata theory in ground control, the mechanical mechanism of injecting grout into separated strata was discussed, and the mechanical model of the overlying strata and the evaluation model for the reducing-subsidence effectiveness by injecting grout into separated strata were established. A formula to calculate the deformation of key strata was derived from their flexing equations pre and post grouting. Combined with the concept of reducing-subsidence coefficient, a formula to evaluate the reducing-subsidence effectiveness by injecting grout into separated strata was obtained. The example shows that the theoretical result agrees well with practical observations and numerical simulations of injecting grout into separated strata.

In this paper, an objective way to evaluate artistic voice of singing is discussed. The authors take F1 (the first formant), F3 (the third formant), fundamental frequency, vocal range, perturbation of fundamental frequency, perturbation of F1, perturbation of F3 and average energy as the evaluating parameters and assess the quality of singing voices with BPNN (back propagation neural network). The results are then compared with the subjective evaluation of experienced professionals. Experiments show that BP neural network is effective to evaluate the singing voices, thus to be helpful to scientific guidance of selecting and training the talent of artistic voice.

Recently, computation, communication and control are deeply and pervasively embedded into physical and engineered components of network system, to advance entire networked system performance and dependability. In such systems, the growing complexity of network structure result in need of increasing system reliability. Network reliability modeling and analysis need not only capture the complex dynamic process of network systems, but also need the facilities for applying, understanding and computing. The objective of this paper is to develop a suitable modeling and analysis framework to study the ad-hoc network reliability. Using the mutual transformations of reliability functions between the time-domain and the frequency-domain, we adopt frequency-domain analysis approach to model network reliability. The advantages of the proposed approach over the traditional time-domain approaches include capability to capture higher order moments of system characteristics, scalability to analyze reliability of complex network systems, efficiency in calculation and practicability in computer simulation, etc. Finally, numerical experiment results show the feasibility and efficacy of this approach.

Efficient design techniques are presented for improving the response of seismic-excited buildings under actuators with fimited capacity. The controller, which is based on the concept of equivalent input disturbance, suppresses earthquake-induced vibrations. The controller produces an estimate of the equivalent vibration on the control input channel, which can be used to directly suppress seismic shocks. The configuration of the control system guarantees effective shock suppression. Information about the actuator saturation is taken into consideration. A three-story building structure under seismic loads is used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the structural vibration. Simulation results show that larger actuators result in better performance guarantees.

Mixel decomposition of remote sensing images is one of valid assistance means for improving quality of feature extraction from the images. Some problems exist in normal linear mixels decomposition, for example, registration error is too large, and neighbourhood information can be took full advantage of and so on. These result in that distortion of new images generated after linear mixels decomposition is more serious. Aiming at an above-mentioned circumstance, particle swarm intelligence searching method is put forward in this paper. New algorithm implements mixel decomposition of remote sensing images, combined with linear mixels decomposition model. The algorithm takes full advantage of neighbourhood information, makes the decomposition result more human, and presents better robustness to environment.

A new structure road detection algorithm based on open uniform B-spline curve model is proposed. Firstly,canny edge detection algorithm is used to extract the road edge. Then road markings are gotten from the edge map by the least square method. Lastly, the road model (B-spline model) is fitted after the central points of the road are gotten from the lane markings. In order to accurate the position of the road bend, the algorithm introduces the maximum deviation of position shift (MDPS) method to search control points. A large number of experiments show that the algorithm is fast, stable, and flexible. It is able to meet the requirements of intelligent navigation.
