He also is a certified College-Level Instructor in the state of Florida and has done graduate work in Computer Science at the University of Florida. As the Technical Publications and Training Manager Simulation and Control Systems Department. General Electric Company Daytona Beach Fla. he currently is responsible for the costing. planning performance scheduling and timely completion of the Department's Technical Manuals and Technical Training Programs. These Training and Manual contracts cover Ship Systems Programs. Simulation Programs. and Communications Programs for the Armed Services and commercial customers. Mr. Hall has over twenty-years experience as a Technical Writer and Instructor and for the past seventeen years has been at the General Electric Company's Daytona Beach Facility. His experience ranges from teaching Basic Electronics and Radar Circuitry as a civilian instructor for the U.S. Army to writing Manuals Proposals Reports Specifications and Brochures for General Electric's product lines. Mr. Donald G. MOSS is a graduate of Kansas State University from which he received both his B.S. degree in Business Administration and his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. He is presently a Senior Systems Engineer for Control Systems in the Simulation and Control Systems Department at the General Electric Company's Daytona Beach Facility. He has been employed by General Electric for 23 years — the first seven as an Engineer and Program Manager on the Fire Control Systems for the Fleet Ballistics Missile Program the next six managing the design of control and checkout equipment on the APOLLO Program and the last ten years working on control equipment for the machinery plants of new Navy ships. At the time this paper was presented he was on active duty in the U.S. Navy serving as the Ship Design Manager for the CVV Naval Sea Systems Command. Prior to that his duty assignments included Deputy Program Manager for the Sea Control Ship Assistant Ship Material Officer. Staff of Commander Naval Air Force U.S. Pacific Fleet and Type Desk Officer for Cruisers/Destroyers and New Construction (CG 30) at the former Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard. He is a graduate of General Motors Institute an accredited private college sponsored by the General Motors Corporation: the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School Monterey. Calif.: and the Defense Systems Management College. Fort Belvoir. Va. Additionally. he has had extensive postgraduate study in Systems Management at The George Washington University. Cdr. Rein is extremely active in his support of professional engineering societies and as a member of ASNE since 1964 has been responsible for the founding of ASNE Local Sections on the west coast and presently is serving as the Society's National Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. In addition he also was the creator and coordinator for the highly successful. Society sponsored Symposium “Aircraft Carriers — Present and Future.”which was held in October 1976 at the U.S. Grant Hotel. San Diego. Calif. and was the first such Symposium jointly sponsored by an Operating Fleet command and a professional society. Mr. J. Christopher Ryanreceived his B.S. degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute of Naval Architecture in 1967 and his M.S. degree in Naval Architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969. SHINPADS — A NEW SHIP INTEGRATION CONCEPT

He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1961 and attended the Royal Roads Military College from 1961 to 1963 receiving his BE degree in Electrical Engineering. Following Pre-Fleet Training he was assigned to HMCS Gatineau for watchkeeping and engineering training. Work on the prototype AN/SQS-505 Sonar ASROC Missile System and the prototype ASW Data System (ASWDS) followed including shipboard installation and evaluation of the system in HMCS Terra Nova during which time he was the “guinea pig” Combat Systems Engineer. Later during the construction phase of the Canadian Navy's Combined Support Center he acted as Principal Engineer subsequently returning to graduate studies at the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1971 from which he received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering designing and building a computer intended for ship machinery health monitoring in the process. Posted to Headquarters in 1974 he served as Project Officer for a mini command and control system known as ADLIPS his additional interests being that of originating plasma and digital television developments. It was during this period that the SHINPADS concept was first put forward and following a year at the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College he was promoted to his present rank in 1977 and posted as Head of the Naval Command and Control Design Authority (DCMS 7). Cdr. Carruthers is a registered Professional Engineer (Ontario). and as an author has had several technical papers published on digital design machinery health monitoring and the SHINPADS concept. At the present time he is Assistant Director Maritime Combat Systems at the National Defense Headquarters in Ottawa where his current responsibilities include all aspects of C2systems. A member of ASNE since February 1978 he is also a member of IEEE U.S. Naval Institute and the IEEE Computer Society.

作者: BECKER, LOUIS A. SIEGRIST, FRANKLIN I. Louis A. Becker was born in New Rochelle N.Y. in 1930 receiving his earlier education in the New Rochelle Public Schools. He completed his undergraduate studies at Manhattan College in 1952 receiving his BCE degree during which time he was also engaged in land surveying. Following this he did postgraduate study at Virginia Polytechnic Institute obtaining his MS in 1954. He joined Naval Ship Research and Development Center in 1953 as a Junior Engineer and is currently the Head of the Engineering & Facilities Division Structures Department. His field of specialization is Structural Research and Development. Franklin I. Siegrist was born in Knoxville Tenn. in 1937 receiving his earlier education in the Public Schools of Erie Pa. He attended Pennsylvania State University graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering having prior to that time served four years in the U. S. Navy. He was a Junior Engineer in the AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors from 1962 until 1964 at which time he came to the David Taylor Model Basin as an Electrical Engineer in the Industrial Department. He is currently Supervisory Engineer for Electrical and Electronics Engineering Structures Department Naval Ship Research and Development Center. His field of specialization is Electrical Engineering Control Systems Data Collection Systems Computer Applications to Structural Research and Hydraulic System Design. In the last of these he holds Patent Rights on a “Hydraulic Supercharge and Cooling Circuit” granted in 1970.

作者: McMICHAEL, DAVID L. ORLEANS, BEATRICE S. Mr. David L. McMichael:is Senior Development Engineer on the Project TRANSIM Staff at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is widely experienced in the application of quantitative analytical methods in particular computer simulation to the solution of real-world problems. Prior to joining the UCLA Staff he was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the Naval Ship Systems Command as a system analyst engaged in the introduction of quantitative analysis methods in the Navy management decision-making process. He has also been Senior Systems Analyst ASSET Inc. Industrial Engineer with the Surface Combustion Corp. and Speiser Engineering Inc. and a lecturer in Mathematics at North Virginia Community College. He received his MS degree in Operations Research at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School having specialized in gaming and simulation and his BSME degree at Tri-State College Angola Indiana. Miss Beatrice S. Orleans:holds a BA degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Hunter College and a MS degree in Statistics from Columbia University-Graduate School of Business. She has also completed graduate courses at Columbia George Washington and American Universities. Prior to her present position she was employed by the International Statistical Bureau as an economic statistician the Educational Testing Service as a research assistant the Air Force Human Resources Research Laboratory as an aviation psychologist and Head of the Statistics Section and CNO Aviation Plans and Programs as a mathematical statistician. For the past 20 years she has been with the Bureau of Ships and now the Naval Ship System Command in what is known as the Statistical Engineering Branch of which she has been the Branch Head for the last 10 years. She also has worked in the areas of Statistical Quality Control and Design of Experiments and Reliability and in addition has taught a number of sessions of a course in Introduction to Statistical Inference for the Navy the Laboratories and the Army.
